It took a couple seconds before Jaye could form a coherent thought again. When he could, he quickly stood, but those were precious seconds lost. He knew now that there was less moisture in the air, for the fire was becoming easier to maintain. If the rain had stopped, then the balance was tipping in his favor. With that motivation in mind, he overcame some of the focus issues that the pain was causing. So as he stood he launched himself forward to hit Red, acting like a firey arrow.

The Riolu stood stock still, waiting for Jaye's next move. He knew he didn't have time to prepare himself to attack, so he would wait and see what the Chimchar would do next. When Jaye launched himself at him like an arrow loosed from its bow, however, he was caught by surprise. He had never seen a Pokemon do anything like that before, even in all of his training exercises. And so, he was successfully slammed by Jaye's tactic, causing him to get forced back helplessly by his opponent.
Red was sent flying backward and his back hit the trunk of a nearby tree loud enough for the resulting thud to be heard quite clearly. He slid down to the trunk's base on his tail, unsure of what to do now. This Chimchar has proven to be quite a large handful at this point. But still, he refused to back down. However, he felt himself begin to lose strength in his limbs, so he had a difficult time getting back up. Using the tree trunk for support, he managed to climb back up.
Once Red was back on his feet, he brought his two palms together, forming a small sphere between them, like before. He then thrust both arms forward, launching a desperate Petite Sphere attack, in a last-ditch effort to end this battle. However, he figured that this single move wouldn't be enough to turn the tide of the battle again...however, he just had to try.

Jaye was already desperate. Using himself as a flaming projectile, then, might have surprised himself even more than Red when it worked. He still had to get up after knocking the Riolu back, but figured it worked. The noise when the latter hit the tree helped to drive that point into his mind. He didn't take his eyes off his adversary for a moment; training as a human had taught him that much.
The trouble started coming when Red attacked. Jaye, vaguely recalling the move from earlier, braced himself as best he could, keeping his vortex of fire close. Though as he had a very short time-frame in which to prepare, it wasn't much. As the projectile struck him, in recieving the momemtum he flipped backwards. To his relief he didn't hit his head again, but instead - possibly not much better - ended up on his feet with his back to a tree, much like Red. In taking the hit his fire had gone out.
The Chimchar noticed that his breathing was getting heavier, an audible reminder that adrenaline only lasted so long. Determined, he kept his gaze on his adversary and kept his guard up, prepared to move, judging the distance. The thought crossed his mind that this probably wasn't the best tactic since the Riolu was skilled at moving quickly, although it seemed to be a calculated risk to keep him in sight as the battle started showing wear on him, too.

Red eyed his opponent carefully for a few moments after he finally managed to finish recovering. He clenched his fists and thought about his next move. Various options swam through his mind. He could attack from a distance and give himself more room to evade the Chimchar's responses. That seemed like it would be the best possible way to do this. However, it seemed too...cowardly to him. As such, he shook his head and decided on a more direct approach. He wasn't going to allow this Chimchar to scare him into defensive tactics.
As a result, he ended up rushing forward. However, he decided to keep things simple this time around. After all, if he ended up missing this attack, he'd end up hitting the tree, and that would probably stop him long enough for Jaye to pull out a couter-attack of some sort. So, he went with a simple Quick Attack, in an attempt to close the distance between the two combatants as quickly as possible while still maintaining good accuracy in his movements and while actually dealing damage, even if it may not be quite on the same level as, say, a Force Palm move would be.
The red Riolu charged forward at a rushing speed, lowering his shoulder in an attempt to slam it as hard as he could into Jaye's chest. If this worked, then perhaps he could wrap this fight up soon. If not, then he might find himself in a much tighter spot.... However, to Red, it was worth the risk.

Jaye absolutely refused to take his watch off his opponent. It almost puzzled him that the battle paused, but he certainly wasn't about to complain about it. Having a good chance to observe without needing to carry out split-second judgement about the flow of the battle helped his judgement of Red. Against all odds the other Pokemon seemed finally to be wearing down.
That was just before the Riolu prepared to attack. Jaye soon recognized the Quick Attack as it came. Knowing that because of the move's nature he had less than a couple seconds to react, he started running to put the closest obstacle between them. By the time of the move's completion he'd probably be a bit more than halfway to putting the tree between Red and himself. Even if the Riolu didn't hit the tree, hopefully it would save Jaye from doing it in his stead.

Red continued to charge toward his Chimchar target. However, he had made his move a bit too quickly due to his frustration and anger. He was already moving too quickly to stop himself. As a result, when Jaye managed to slip himself behind a tree, he couldn't do anything more than ram hard into the wooden tree trunk. The tree's trunk held firm, and he winced in pain as a result. He stumbled back a few steps and cursed angrilly under his breath. He clearly was not pleased with Jaye's, as he probably considered it, cowardly tactic.
Whatever the case, he couldn't do much more. His shoulder throbbed with pain from his collision with the tree, and it was going to take him a few seconds to recover from Jaye's evasionary tactic. If the Chimchar was going to finally take hold of this fight, he would need to make his move now.

Jaye rounded the tree, glad (in a way he himself found sickening) to hear the dull sound of Red hitting the tree at high speed. Now, with the Riolu seemingly at his mercy, he faced a dilemna: Let his opponent go, knowing that he had won, or rub it in? While the Chimchar was no sadist, he was resolute and strong-willed. He decided to finish what he started and with the opening moved to jump on Red's back, furiously swiping out with claws on his right hand (not targeting anything in particular) and holding fire in his left hand to scald the Riolu's nearest shoulder (hopefully thereby disabling his left arm).
As an aside, Jaye noted that he somewhat liked this tactic of attacking simeltaneously with claws and fire. He also noted that the dull ache he had from his injuries seemed to be slowly fading, though only being then replaced by a more complete soreness including both the worse injuries and his growing exhausion. The Chimchar hoped for something, anything, to soon end the battle and let him rest.

Red growled in frustration as he finally began to finish recovering from his impact with the tree. He looked over in the direction the Chimchar had moved and...no longer saw him there. Before he could question it, he felt something heavy jump on him from behind. The force from Jaye jumping onto his back took him by surprise, and he couldn't support the weight due to the fact that he couldn't brace himself for it. As a result, he fell underneath the weight of the Chimchar. The Riolu was thrown down hard onto the ground on his stomach underneath Jaye's feet. On top of this, he suddenly felt a searing heat connect with his left arm, causing him to cry out in pain, as well as the Chimchar's hands Scratching away at him.
The Riolu lay on the ground beneath Jaye, completely helpless at the moment. He was on his stomach, so he couldn't simply attack him. On top of this, he wasn't flexible enough to bring an arm around and use his Force Palm. He growled in fury as he struggled with all of his remaining might. "Get...off...of...me...!!" he growled...but he could feel his remaining strength drain away every second he struggled. What was he going to do now...!? He was helplessly pinned down by a Chimchar who had helped with his target to escape. This was definitely NOT going to look good for him....

As the techniques completed, Jaye realized that the Riolu was at his mercy - the Chimchar could set the terms for the balance of the battle. Finally, the light became visible at tunnel's end. Relief swept through him, the tense agony beginning to lift.
The other agony, however, mildly troubled him. The cry of pain and the growling request slightly pierced the otherwise solid resolution of carrying through and putting the Riolu down for the count. Jaye held on, teeth clenched, as best he could with his legs and left arm (fire extinguished). With his free right hand he went to thoroughly burn Red's right shoulder. As Jaye figured it, burning both shoulders would disable the Riolu.
'A Quick Attack would exacerbate the pain. The Force Palm and that mini Aura Sphere - whatever it was - would have him moving his shoulders for power and aim, also making it worse. And once that's done I need to hide so not even an aura gives me -away.'
Despite talking himself into and through it, the Chimchar's strength wavered a bit at the constant thrashing that Red kept up.

The Riolu continued to growl and struggle against Jaye's grip. While he knew that he was most likely physically stronger than the Chimchar, it would be practically impossible to escape from this with his Burns in place. And of course, this certainly was not helped by the fact that he felt the Fire-type begin to burn his right arm similarly to how he had done to his left. With another growl of pain, Red knew that this battle was going to end in his defeat if he didn't do something now.
As a result of Red's desperation, he managed something he hadn't tried before. He attempted to use all of his remaining strength to raise the right side of his body, which was under less pressure than the rest of him given Jaye's position, in an attempt to force the Chimchar off-balance. If he could just do that, then perhaps he could perhaps roll and, using nothing but momentum, attempt to throw the Chimchar off of him.
Red was well aware that he would have a very difficult time continuing this fight with these painful Burns...but this was too important to allow himself to surrender now. He was going to fight until either this blasted Chimchar lost consciousness...or he himelf did.

Jaye continued with his flame, confident that Red wouldn't be able to hurt him more. Even the struggling seemed to be getting weaker, a certain sign that he was repidly approaching the point of blacking out. The Chimchar didn't let his guard down - that would be the height of folly - but let himself relax, sinking a bit into the angry demands of his soreness and exhaustion so that he could quiet them, even marginally.
Then, he felt Red surge and push on his own right, presumably trying to off-balance him and turn the tide of battle. Not really expecting any further resistance, this took Jaye by surprise. He leapt off the Riolu's back, using him as a springboard and trying to push him down in order to gain clearance of counterattack distance. However, as the Chimchar wasn't entirely ready for the scenario, his jump trajectory would carry him diagonally and cost precious moments in reorienting himself after landing.

Red growled in anger as he managed to finally throw the Chimchar off of his back. He raised his paws to the ground beside his chest, trying to ignore the pain that began to shoot through his arms as a result. He slowly managed to climb his way back to his feet before turning around to face the Chimchar. He had taken a good beating for the last few minutes of battle, and he was about to pay his opponent back tenfold. Of course, that was going to be a lot more difficult with his Burns to worry about, but he didn't care. He was going to do this. He was furious. And he was going to take it out on Jaye if it was the last thing he did. Red, glaring at Jaye, stepped forward menacingly in the Chimchar's direction. "I've had...enough of you...." he roared through exhausted, deep breaths. "I'm going to make sure...you feel this...for the rest of your life...." He continued to step forward, plotting how to make this Chimchar's next few moments as agonizingly painful as possible. However, before he could get close enough to put any of his dark thoughts into motion...he fell. His legs gave out and he sank to his knees. From there he fell forward, with his upper body hitting the grass with a soft thud. He now lay unconscious, defeated, at Jaye's feet. ~For defeating the red Riolu, Jaye acquires 40 Power!~

Jaye put his hands back up as Red slowly rose. He knew well enough that if he was up against an opponent who could get up after the breaing the brunt of his full power, he was very likely well and truly done for. '...is there anything that can put him down and keep him down...?' He even took a step back as the Riolu advanced, desperation kicking back in.
Then his opponent fell. Right at his feet, even. The Chimchar mumbled thanks to any higher power overseeing this place and leand back against thenearest tree. A rather different and completely inexplicable feeling of relief washed through him, bringing back some strength and lessening the soreness a bit, but for the most part he remained tired. Glancing around, he considered his next move, finally not under immediate threat.
'Don't want him getting up any time soon, not that he probably will...so what about him and his partner? The Charmander was probably right, these aren't 'good cops' if Red's last statements were anything to go by...' Very briefly, Jaye considered searching his unconscious opponent for anything that seemed useful, but then passed up the idea, at least for the moment. 'If this world is, presumably, inhabited by Pokemon...and the Charmander didn't like these guys - I definitely don't either - that means that public opinion of this 'Dimensional Guard' is low...so then maybe I can find help... He glanced around then carefully examined his surroundings for any signs of life, keeping a close watch on Red as well.

As Jaye finally found some breathing space to himself, without getting jumped on by a rampaging Riolu, it would become even glancingly obvious that the place Red had chased him to was none other than some kind of Berry grove. There were many different kinds of Berry plants sitting around the two of them. In fact, a few seem to have fallen to the ground at some point during the struggle. From round, blue Berries that could be identified by most people as an Oran Berry to some kind of red and beige Berry that experts might be able to identify as a Liechi Berry. Sitting around Jaye were many different types of Berry plants, each apparently ripe with fruit.
However, other than this, the area seemed to be somewhat empty. The overhead clouds began to clear away, revealing a bit more sunlight that began to seep its way through the canopy of the grove and fall onto the ground below. There wasn't a sound but that of ruffling greenery being carried on the still-blowing breeze. Overhead, a small rainbow could also be seen, just above the trees.
Despite everything that had just occurred, and the unconscious Riolu that was laying on the ground, the grove seemed very...serene and peaceful.

The peace became overwhelming in a way that the heat of battle could not. The utter silence...the complete stillness...Jaye slumped against the tree. He sat there for a few minutes, taking it all in. He regarded the spots of sunlight bittersweetly - staying would be so nice, but he also wanted to distance himself from Red.
Wearily, so wearily, the Chimchar pushed himself to his feet. Once he picked up the dropped berries ('No use letting these go to waste'), he decided to search Red for anything that looked useful. Curiosity was quickly getting the better of Jaye, and any scruples against theivery vanished when he considered the nature of his oppenent. He chewed on an Oran Berry (figuring it was safe to eat) and stood in the warm, comforting sunlight as he searched the red Riolu.
The Chimchar began making other plans, too. After resting and basking in the natural beauty, he needed to move out of the area at speed - a shame, too, as he was unlikely to ever find it again. If he could find any non-hostile, maybe he could start getting answers about the world...and himself. A momentary, unintended glance showed the necklace he almost always wore. 'A connection to before...my team...something to press on for...' With further renewed resolve, he rededicated himself to his work, searching the Riolu - then scanning the area - for anything he could carry that even looked remotely useful, as long as it wasn't still attached to a plant.

As Jaye picked up the Berries, it became obvious that there were a select few types of berries thrown into this mix. However, a couple of them appeared to be somewhat rare. This little grove definitely seemed to be a good find indeed. It didn't seem like carrying all of these Berries was going to be much of a problem either, so Jaye seemed to luck out a bit with this red Riolu encounter as a whole. As Jaye began to snack on one of the Oran Berries he had picked up, he could feel his energy being restored almost immediately. Any physical injuries he had or feelings of exhaustion he may have been feeling were washed away as the Berry was consumed. It wasn't enough to restore his strength completely, but at least it seemed to give him plenty of energy to work with. When Jaye began to frisk and search the Riolu's unconscious body for anything useful, it became apparent that this Riolu had been carrying plenty. The first object that the Chimchar found was a pair of small, red glasses-looking object. These were none other than a pair of Scanglasses; an interesting find to say the least. The next thing Jaye would find was a small pile of money. After counting this small pile out, it turned out the Riolu was carrying a good 200 Poké on him. There were two additional items on the red Riolu. The first was a small, red and black device that resembled a human cellular phone. This one had what appeared to be a touch screen, but it was blank except for a set of numbers from zero to nine and a set of letters from A to F. On the underside of the device, a small number was etched in. "52656-4" The other object that Jaye found was a small badge. This badge looked small enough to be worn, and it was designed as a small, silver fist. There wasn't much else to it; there was nothing written on it like the communicator-like device, and there were no small devices on it either. It appeared to be nothing more than an ordinary badge. But then that would raise the question...of what exactly this Riolu was doing carrying this thing with him? Jaye obtained:
Oran Berry x3 Pecha Berry x2 Sitrus Berry x1 Lum Berry x2 Liechi Berry x1

Despite only partial familiarity with the better part of his good fortune, Jaye felt that things were truly working quite well in his favor at the moment. Curiosity overcoming any prior uncertainties, the Chimchar put on the apparent sunglasses and tried to determine the mechanics of the phone. This proved rather more frustrating that not and he put it on a growing to-do list.
It took some consternation and some mental hoops, but Jaye decided to take the phone-like device. At worst, he could be tracked with it...although he shivered as he held it - "...what kind of reckless streak is getting into me...?" Almost as an afterthought, he did a bit of finangling, trying to put on the badge. He made his determination with a deep breath, had his last looks and rest, then headed out for the world that awaited him. He certainly felt better about it.

As Jaye slipped the red sunglasses onto his face, something unusual happened. The unconscious body of the red Riolu appeared to be outlined for a moment before a small screen appeared in his vision. A small list showed, with a thin line connecting to the Riolu's outline. The list read as follows:
Name: Rumen Reed Power: 200 Nature: Ruthless, Sadistic Items: None Money: None Status: Unconscious
When Jaye looked down at the communicator-like device in his hands, another small screen popped up, replacing the Riolu's outline with its own. Another small list popped up, connected to the outline. This one read:
PokéCom - A remote phone. It can be used as a cell phone to call any other phone in the dimension. It can store an infinite amount of phone numbers in memory; each phone number is a 5-digit hexadecimal number.
However, Jaye's moments of rest were soon to be interrupted. A familiar voice came from through the trees, apparently heading right for the two of them. "Hmph. Sheesh, you owe me big time for putting out that fire and finding and dragging this little runt back to you," the voice muttered in what seemed to be an annoyed grumble. Soon enough, the Riolu that came to be known as Blue finally showed himself from the trees. And he clutched something that he was dragging along behind him.
When Blue looked up and saw the scene before him, he stopped. The Chimchar that Red had gone after was standing there, holding Red's PokéCom and wearing a pair of Scanglasses. On top of this, Red was collapsed on the ground, badly Burned and unconscious. "Wh-what's going on here...!?" he exclaimed, looking from the unconscious Red to Jaye. "Y-you beat...Red...!?"
Just as Blue stopped in shock, the thing that he was dragging behind him let out a groan. It wiggled a bit and it finally emerged into full sight. Without a doubt, this was the same Charmander as before; although now he seemed to have taken a bit of a beating. He was now being helplessly dragged along by the tail by the blue Riolu.

Some information came up which Jaye filed in memory to reference, apparently due to the tinted glasses. Then the voice Jaye had hoped not to hear returned to his ears. He got the things he picked up together as best he could, just in time to see the blue Riolu - who introduced himself as Blue, though in all likelihood that wasn't his actual name either - come around a nearby tree and see the scene that the Chimchar had been in for quite some time.
The Riolu seemed genuinely startled. 'Maybe that 'power' thing the glasses listed was unusually high?' Jaye smirked, putting on a confident face. After all, he took down Red - or Rumen, actually - and felt pretty good again. Why couldn't he defeat his partner? "What does it look like? I'm not the one laying on the ground." The Chimchar got his guard back up, trying to use the glasses on the blue Riolu, but then he also noticed that the Charmander was back and tried to get the information about him too.
'I've got to talk to that guy this time. One chance meeting is coincidence. Two, and it's suspicious. Just have to keep him from running off again...'

As Jaye turned the Scanglasses and his gaze upon the blue Riolu, a small window appeared beside him, connected to an outline, just like what had happened with Rumen and the PokéCom. This time, however, the rext read:
Name: Blake Baron Power: 100 Nature: Insecure, Strategic Items: Fire Bomb x2, Ice Bomb x2, Thunder Bomb x2, Spore Bomb x2 Money: 300 Status: No problems
When Jaye turned his focus on the Charmander, the glasses also gave a reading for him as well:
Name: Cameron Hyde Power: 30 Nature: Timid, Friendly Items: None Money: 50 Status: Red
As Blue, or Blake as Jaye came to realize as his true name, saw the look of confidence on the Chimchar's face, he stumbled back slightly, clearly unsure if he could handle this. He listened to the Chimchar's words and silently gulped to himself. Who was this guy, and how was he able to defeat Red and suffer so few injuries? Blake quickly shook his head and called out, "N-no...it must just be a fluke...." he growled, clenching his fists. "Th-there's no way a non-Guard runt like you could have been able to beat Red like that!"
Despite Blake's rather...unconvincing accusation, he didn't move, nor did he make an aggressive motion other than curling his paws into fists. If nothing else, it seemed like he was weighing his odds of actually managing to defeat the Chimchar who apparantly had managed to defeat his partner.
Meanwhile, the Charmander, who had long-since been released by the Riolu, turned his head around so that he could see who Blake was talking to. After seeing that it was the Chimchar again, he whimpered a bit. "P...Please...help me...!" he called out, rather weakly and pathetically.
