The pounding began...and abruptly stopped. Ingress...egress. Once more in and out, like the waves of the ocean. But these, the waves of a piercing headache, slicing through any hope of sleep.
". . ." Groggily, Jaye blinked his pale blue eyes. "...uggh...five more minutes..." He closed his eyes and kept them closed. The headache, though, made it impossible to sleep, so he opened his eyes again a couple minutes later. He stared up at the sky...the sky! "Huh?" This realization finally got him moving, although his mind still wasn't fully aware yet. Everything was so out of proportion and it all seemed so much larger. Maybe it was just his sleepiness. Maybe it was the fact that there wasn't a lot to measure off of in the open field. As he stood and looked around, shaking and stretching the last of sleep away, he decided that he wasn't dreaming: even the most real of dreams weren't this vidid. However, ignorance might have been bliss as Jaye found only moments later that he had fur - and not only fur, but a short tail consisting of a glowing ember. He rubbed his eyes, at a loss for words, hoping against hope that he was wrong when he decided he wasn't dreaming.
Yet a certain part of him, during the shock, remembered the myths he'd studied. According to those ancient legends, humans becoming Pokemon was not unheard of. He just...didn't think it could ever happen to him..."...yet here I stand, a Chimchar, in the flesh..." Though rare, he had an occasional tendency to talk to himself when under stress. He experimentally blew a small flame into a cupped hand (or was it paw? He couldn't be sure). The fire didn't hurt inside, but it sure did outside. He waved his arm a bit, trying to cool it down from the mild burn, and looked around the open space more closely, any doubt gone as to the self-evidency of what happened to him.

As the Chimchar began to awaken and realize what was going on, the area around him began to reveal itself. Jaye awoke in the middle of a large, rolling plain. The skies above were less than cheerful. Dark clouds covered a large portion of the sky, and the only blue that could be seen was closer to the horizon and treelines. Yes, treelines. Not that far away was a set of trees, clearly leading to a miniature forest of sorts. Other than that, there wasn't much to be seen. A few hills along the plain, upon which dim green grass was sprawled.
Despite the looming dark clouds, the landscape seemed quite peaceful and serene. It certainly seemed like a good place to take a rest. However, the peace was quick to be cut. It wasn't long before a figure came running toward Jaye from behind the treeline. After a short while, the form became a bit more clear. It was a bipedal creature with a lengthy, thin tail with a glowing source of light on its tip. The form could soon be identified as a Charmander. The Fire Lizard Pokemon was scrambling as quickly as it could, with a pair of figures following it rather closely. These forms were a bit more difficult to distinguish, but an expert may have recognized them as Riolu.
"H-hey, you...!" the Charmander suddenly called out as he came into earshot. "Y-you've gotta help me...!" It wasn't long before the Charmander managed to arrive at where Jaye was standing and jump behind him. "Th-these guys are crazy...! I didn't do anything, and yet-!"
However, before he could say anything more, the Riolu had arrived on the scene. One was an average color, although a slightly lighter shade of blue. The other Riolu was covered in red fur where a normal Riolu would be blue. "Stand aside, citizen, or be arrested for obstruction of justice." the blue Riolu stated, stopping in front of Jaye and the Charmander.
The red Riolu was quick to add to the blue's statements. "Yes, stand aside. This Pokemon is under official Dimensional Guard arrest."
"N-no, they're wrong...!" the Charmander begged, apparently quite sincere. "P-please, you can't let them take me away...! Y-you have to help me...!"
Jaye hadn't been awake for even five minutes yet, and he suddenly found himself in what appeared to be a police chase of some kind. The Charmander was hiding behind him, and the two Riolu, who appeared to be part of some kind of police force, were waiting for his response.

Jaye shivered subconsciously as he realized the dark and the gloom, regardless of his fur and internal fire. His perception shifted with the shiver, however, so that he realized that it wasn't bitter and cold but actually quite quiet and peaceful. Deciding to head towards the trees, the only particular visible landmark, he was just beginning to enjoy the stillness at the point at which it was broken.
He frantically took in the information of everything which happened - it happened so fast - and tried to formulate a response. Failing at that, he just as frantically tried to buy time and understand what was happening. The Chimchar backed up a bit, keeping the Charmander behind him. He also tried to make clear the motion of keeping ready to trip the fugitive while keeping the same foot in place to give him a getaway push if necessary.
He tried to sound shaken, which was not that hard. After all he'd just been through (including some memories, fading in, of a portal and a mysterious voice), few would have a hard time not sounding shaken. "...w-what's going on? I definitely don't want to stand in the way of justice, and I won't. But...um...how'd this happen...?" He tapped the Charmander's foot, hoping to signal that he could stay without worrying. Jaye said he didn't want to stand 'in the way' of the law, and he wasn't about to go against his word. However, he could stand to be literally honest and yet make the lives of the the officers more difficult in the process.

The two Riolu were obviously not pleased with Jaye's actions and response to their demands. A small, glowing sphere appeared in the palm of the red Riolu's paw. He had a clearly frustrated expression. "That's classified information. Stand aside now." he growled, in a tone that was clearly made as an ultimatum. He definitely seemed like the type of intimidating Pokemon one would not want to cross if they could help it. However, upon closer inspection, it would be a bit more apparent that he seemed to be breathing a bit heavier than usual.
The red Riolu's partner, the blue one, put a paw on the red one's shoulder and gave him a stern look and stole a glance down at the glowing orb in the red one's paw. The red Riolu growled once more when he met the blue's gaze, but dropped his arm and allowed the sphere to dissolve. The blue one looked up at the Chimchar, and let a small smirk cross his lips. "Look kid, we don't want to hurt you, but we can't tell you what's going on. You can call me...well let's keep thsi simple. Call me 'B' and he's 'R' for probably obvious reasons. Now listen...take my word on this. The Dimensional Guard isn't a group you want to be crossing. Just step aside and hand him over, and you're free to go."
The Charmander seemed just as panicked as before, if not moreso. "N-no, you have to help me...! Th-they think I stole...s-something...but I-I didn't do a thing...! They're just setting me up...! P-please, you can't listen to them!"
Whatever was going on, both sides definitely seemed sincere. But their contradictory claims begged a single question. Which was the side in the wrong?

Both sides responded and neither response helped Jaye much. Behind him, a frightened lizard Pokemon claiming some sort of innocence. Before him, two imposing Riolu claiming the need to capture the Charmander. Despite all the rest of the information (or lack thereof), Jaye at least had a name to go off of. The Dimensional Guard. Maybe they were trustworthy and licit, maybe not. He had to put his trust somewhere, though.
Jaye sighed and glanced at the Charmander, his thought speeds swift as of full wakefulness. "I may or may not be doing the right thing. I don't even know any longer. But I want to ask your name, give you a boost whether or not you deserve it, and wish you best of luck if you deserve it." It made sense in Jaye's mind that either the Riolu or their compatriots (if the Dimensional Guard was a real force) could catch the Charmander, although he knew that the same guards might as easily take him on here.
And then Jaye crashed that entire train of thought when he realized that if black-and-white didn't exist before, it certainly didn't suddenly come into being now.
Besides this, he realized as his thoughts raced that only one of four general scenarios turned out in his favor. Subcategorized, with no sign of civilization in sight, he could get information from the pursuers or pursued. Subdivided, if he helped the pursuers and they were friendly (which seemed unlikely), therefore probably legal, then his story and sanity would be irrevocably questioned. If he helped the pursuers and they were unfriendly (no matter of legality), he'd end up no better than the fugitive Charmander. On the other hand, if he helped an unfriendly pursued, at best he'd have two Riolu chasing him and at worst he'd be battling a Charmander while his description hung on 'WANTED' notices around the world. If he helped a friendly pursued, he'd have an ally to ask questions, flee with, and maybe even face the world with.
So Jaye placed his trust, and put it in his fellow Fire-Type.
He turned to the Charmander while he spoke. "On second thought...run - I've got your back!" Jaye knew nothing about battle from his new perspective, but figured it couldn't be too hard based on the ease with which he emitted flame earlier. With two uses of Ember, he started burning the grass in front of him (hopefully no rain would impede) and presumably finished burning his bridges with the Riolu. Jaye started running, virtually dragging the Charmander along.

The Charmander hesitated for a moment. He clearly wasn't sure what to say or how to react to the Chimchar's response. At first, this stranger had asked him a question of his name, and he wasn't sure if he'd respond. It seemed as though he didn't fully believe his story, although that was completely understandable. After all, the two of them had never even met before. But even so, he couldn't work with mistrust. If he was going to get away from this, he needed this Chimchar on his side completely. Not long after that, however, the Chimchar suddenly changed his mind and started flat-out helping him by attempting to impede the Riolu's progress! That had been exactly what he'd been hoping for, and a smile grew on his lips. The next thing he knew, he was running along with his fellow Fire-type Pokemon, in the opposite direction as the two Riolu that he had been chased by before. Of course, he was sure that they wouldn't stay back there for very long. He had been barely able to out-run them for as long as he had. He wasn't sure how much longer he could keep running. Regardless, he managed to utter a small, "th-thank...you...!" through his panting. The Chimchar's sudden reaction didn't seem to take the two Riolu by surprise. Or at least, their reactions didn't show it. The Riolu that was introduced as Red jumped up and somersaulted over the flames with impressive acrobatic skill, and he was hounding the two Fire-types almost immediately after the two had began to run again. The small sphere in Red's palm appeared once more, and he sharply brought his arm around, launching the small energy sphere toward the escaping Chimchar. The small sphere was blindingly fast and accurate, flying directly toward the center of Jaye's back. Perhaps Jaye would recognize the resemblance to the Aura Sphere move, but it seemed smaller and less powerful.... Meanwhile, Blue realized what was going on and quickly surveyed his surroundings once more. Spotting the trees and realizing that this chase was going along its treeline, he considered leaping among them and giving chase as well. He looked up at the sky and it became quite obvious that it was going to rain sometime in the near future. He looked down at the flames that were starting to get stronger and clicked his tongue. He took the time to dig up a ring of dirt around the flames before they got too out of hand. The last thing he needed to worry about was a small forest being set ablaze. When he was finished, the Riolu gave a short nod before looking out across the field. He saw Red still in hot pursuit of the two escapees and nodded once more to himself. He then turned his attention back to the forest and jumped up into its branches.... {Oh, a quick note. The move Red is using is an "Advanced Move" called Petite Sphere. You can find information on that here: rpdimension.wikia.com/wiki/Petite_Sphere }

Before long, the chase erupted again, now with two Fire-type Pokemon running for their lives. "You're welcome...now save your breaths for... when we can be sure...that we have more to take." It was all Jaye said between breaths; it was all he said whatsoever.
At least until he glanced backwards. The fire slowed down one foe, Blue, for as long as it took for him to keep the fire from speading and get into the trees. The Chimchar looked up the treeline, only to see that the environment was turning against him since Blue had a straight line towards them through the trees. Burning a tree, especially in this kind of weather, wouldn't help...or would it?
Jaye reached a conclusion to exploit the environment at any cost. He watched the trees and carefully (as carefully as a sprint allows) tried to set fire to a damp tree. He only glanced back enough to see that it started producing smoke - soon to be massive amounts of smoke - to obscure Blue's vision until the Riolu got past it.
As for Red, when Jaye took a look back, he wasn't sure beyond the continue of the pursuit. Then the Riolu threw something - the orb from earlier? - and Jaye saw only a flash before pain lanced through his spine as something hit his back and he sprawled forward. It hurt, stunning him very briefly, but it didn't hurt as much as he expected and the tenacious Chimchar quickly got up and kept running. He paused for just a moment at the crest of a hill. Scattering Embers in a roughly circular pattern, he tried another unorthodox tactic, but not without problems. The circle of fire he created was much smaller than he hoped and it took more effort. The Embers earlier he barely noticed, but the swift, repeated use, sapped some of his vim and he breathed a little more heavily. While the fire started spreading over the hilltop, he hurried out of the circle with his Charmander ally and cut through the treeline into the forest, hoping that the hill, the beacon of flame, and the 'smoke bomb' tree he started aflame would sufficiently cover the escape.
[OOC: Two things:
Edit: Questions answered. I have written the answers in my own words for reference.
1) Should I have reacted differently to Petite Sphere? Wasn't completely sure how to handle it. The reaction is fine. Jaye would be near peak stamina at the moment, and it would be fine with the P65 move since the Power difference between the characters is unknown.
2) Is it fine that I'm taking such liberty with the environment? If need be, I'll write more confrontation and work on improving in that area. Yes, I can use the environment I'm given as I'd like, so long as I ensure that the moderator retains the primary influence (especially the result) and has something to write about.]

The Charmander didn't reply at all to the Chimchar's next words and simply continued to follow him as quickly as he could. He really hoped this Chimchar knew what he was doing; otherwise the two of them could end up smack dab in the middle of an even worse situation. And that was definitely something they couldn't afford to do at this point. He was certain that these Riolu were rather angry at them at this point. It was all or nothing now. However, when he saw the Chimchar get hit by the Petite Sphere in the back, he couldn't help but wince a bit. He'd taken that hit simply because he was trying to help...even if he didn't show signs of it hurting very much.
Meanwhile, Red was still in hot pursuit. The rain-weakened flames didn't even seem to slow down the red Riolu. He didn't seem to care about possible collateral damage in the slightest. Instead, he jumped up and to his left, landing his feet against the bark of one of the nearby trees and leaped from that to the branches of another tree before jumping back down to ground level without even missing a beat. He continued his pursuit of the two Fire-type Pokemon as though nothing had happened at all.
However, finally having decided that enough was enough, he chose to make more of an effort to stop the two Pokemon before they could cause more harm. He lifted both of his arms and in both palms, another Petite Sphere was formed. He was quick to throw the one in his right hand, followed quickly by the other toward the two Pokemon he was chasing...however, his target was not the two Pokemon themselves, but rather at a set of trees in front of them. This may not be a very thick forest, but they were certainly big enough to fall down and, if this worked, impede the two Fire Pokemon from moving on.
At the very least, it would stop the Charmander, which was, by nature, not a very acrobatic Pokemon. Red knew that the trees would be difficult to get around for him.
And so, Red's Petite Spheres flew toward the trees ahead of the two Fire Pokemon. If these were allowed to collide with their intended targets, it would result in the dropping of two large trees collapsing on the route the escapees were taking...and that was what Red was looking to accomplish.

Although looking back was historically not a good policy, Jaye continued his occasional backward glances. Blue was out of sight, but among the trees (a bit of a mistake to enter in the first place) that meant nothing. Red was still going strong, and he was getting ready to attack again...wait, the sphere looked like Aura Sphere, except smaller. Probably faster, too. That was proven in front of Jaye as the spheres sped towards the trees. He didn't figure out exactly why in the heat of the moment, but he knew that the Riolu had it in for them and that the Chimchar would rather not have the spheres hit anything in close proximity.
Unfortunately, as far as Jaye was all too well aware, his options were quickly running out. The rain didn't puncture the foliage which existed, but precious little existed in the first place. Desperation started to set in, enough that he tried more things he probably wouldn't have otherwise.
The Chimchar attempted igniting the spheres in midair, regardless of the unlikelihood that it would make a difference. He also turned, carefully running backwards and gave Red a long, hard stare with his piercing blue eyes...a Leer, of sorts. After turning back, he altered his escape path ever so slightly so as to run towards the outside edge of the forest, although if the trees fell it would still take time to get around.

The two smaller Sphere attacks shot straight through the flames that Jaye launched, demonstrating a superior power behind it. The Spheres were unhindered in their path through the air and struck their intended targets. As a result, the two trees that were struck by the attacks splintered at the points of impact. The two trees fell over and smashed firmly into the ground just in front of where the Chimchar and Charmander were running together.
Due to the unexpected turn of events, the Charmander hadn't noticed the trees start falling until it was too late. The trees fell down and smashed into the ground just in front of him. He quickly tried to stop his forward momentum and wound up stumbling a bit before getting tripped up by an upturned root from one of the nearby trees. The Charmander fell forward and hit the ground hard on his stomach, uttering a small, "Oomph...!" as he hit the ground. He quickly got back up to all fours and shook his head vigorously, trying to get rid of the stars that now clouded his vision.
Meanwhile, the Riolu who had been referred to as Red was already bearing down on the unsuspecting Charmander in a matter of seconds. The Riolu was quick to pounce on this opportunity. He jumped up into the air, pulling his fist back. As he did, a bit of bluish-colored energy began to form around it. He opened his fist so that his palm was showing and he thrust it down toward the fallen Charmander. His Force Palm would, he hoped, be enough to paralyze the sitting duck, assuming his descent wasn't interrupted or his move blocked....

Jaye had his skepticism confirmed as the spheres carried on despite his attempts to stop them with fire. At the crack of the wood and the crash of the trees, he too was stunned though he kept his balance. The wood and sap had a sickly sweet smell, though that might have been perception altered by sweat and adrenaline. As his pursuer quickly approached, Jaye rushed first to help his ally up...but then changed to defending him as the pursuit came to a head.
As combat loomed in reality, more questions and less answers also loomed in Jaye's mind. '...why did it have to be like this...I remember more, I went to explore and found a portal, but...what came before and what came after?' The Chimchar, now nigh-on forced to either fight the Riolu or give up entirely, gave Red another Leer then burst into flames as he also jumped into the air, somersaulting at the Riolu to try to hit with a Flame Wheel.
[Sorry for the shorter-than-usual post. Still working on how to describe the environment more than we've already described it.]

{Oh there's no need to worry about that. It was fine~ xP}
As Red came down with his Force Palm, he saw the Chimchar suddenly move into his path. Fine then. If the Chimchar wanted to be the first to get himself beaten down and arrested, then so be it. He didn't care in what order he took them down, after all. He came down, aiming his Force Palm at the Chimchar's face...but before he could get close enough, the Chimchar was curling himself up into a ball and launching himself at him with Flame Wheel. This caused Red to stop his attack and reach out his paws in an attempt to catch the Chimchar in his paws and stop the attack.
He felt the fiery wheel hit his extended palms hard and he was knocked backward from the force of the attack. However, he managed to keep himself from being overpowered by the Flame Wheel and he landed on his feet, still trying to hold the Chimchar back. He was forced backward a few more feet, his paws burning from holding onto the fiery body. But he still didn't give up and soon, he had glanced backward and alligned himself perfectly. He finally managed to start holding his ground by obtaining proper footing. The rain-weakened Fire-type move certainly helped him as well. When he was ready, he moved his paws to the side, attempting to throw/aim the Chimchar's fire wheel at a nearby tree, hoping to send the Chimchar slamming into it. If this strategy worked, he hoped the Chimchar would be stunned long enough for him to lunge forward and attack again....

The Chimchar kept pushing and pushing what advantages he had, since so few of them seemeed to remain on his side. So his heart leapt, out of exuberance (or was that fear?) when he actually disrupted Red with an attack. The motivation kept building as Jaye drove the Riolu back a bit.
Then it sizzled and went out, much similar to the way that his fire began sputtering in the rain.
Jaye had precious little time to plan as Red countered, but shifted his momentum to spin the other way and try to curve his path in the other direction, away from a clear obstacle. If anything else barred his path remained to be seen - as it were, he couldn't tell at the moment. If his desperate idea worked, however, he fully planned on getting in a few more hits before he'd even think about giving up.
As a side thought, he briefly wondered how his traveling companion was doing and resolved to make sure that he was okay.
[Question, also. I know that, on this site, a character may use all moves from their species moveset. Does this include moves learned by evolution or in later evolutions?]

As Jaye was able to roll himself away from the tree that he had thrown him toward, Red growled in frustration. This little runt was proving to be way more of a handful than he should have been.
Thankfully for Jaye, there were no objects in his immediate path that had to be avoided, and he would be able to stop his Flame Wheel without difficulty. However, Red wasn't about to give the Chimchar a chance to recover. Instead, he jumped into action, rushing in the Fire Chimp's direction at a surprisingly impressive speed. He was using a Quick Attack to come up on his foe at a superior speed, in an attempt to surprise him and hopefully land his follow-up move. "Just surrender now and this will be over much faster, you little runt!" he growled at Jaye as he brought an open palm forward, aiming his Force Palm attack at the side of the Chimchar's face.
Meanwhile, the Charmander was finally able to scramble back to his feet. He saw the Chimchar begin a desperate battle against the red Riolu. He watched Red's leap forward and gulped. He tried to move, but fear anchored his limbs to the ground. Surely if he tried to jump in, he'd just get flatted, rolled up and tossed aside anyway. So, he decided on a different course of action. He turned his back to the battle, silently wished Jaye the best, and attempted to flee the scene. Perhaps he would be able to get away if Jaye were keeping Red busy like that....
{Nope. You stick solely to what your Pokemon could learn by level-up. For example, Chimchar would be able to use Acrobatics, but he is NOT be able to use an Monferno/Infernape-only move Close Combat}

The manuver apparently worked. Jaye pulled out of the battering fire attack and even landed on both feet (paws?)! He glanced at the seemingly more open space which he now had to work in. This, however, was interrupted by the sight of Red bearing down on him.
While almost panicking, Jaye brought up both hands at about the same time as the Force Palm. One hand held an Ember - a meager thing in the soaking, dreary landscape, but workable for slplit-second defense. The other hand had claws extended, trying to Scratch the Riolu. Jaye's intended target with both attacks? The face. Was it dirty fighting to aim for the face? Probably. Did it matter right now? Probably not.

As the Riolu came down at the Chimchar, Force Palm aimed at his stomach. He felt his palm successfully collide with his intended target, blasting the Fire-type Pokemon with a surprisingly strong amount of force for a Pokemon of his size. Unfortunately for him, he had not seen Jaye's response coming. At the same time his Force Palm hit, the Ember and Scratch attacks met him hard in the face. He let out a growl of pain and was knocked to the side. He stumbled around for a moment, trying to shake off the attacks.
Red reached up to his face as he finally caught his balance again after a few moments, but winced a bit as he touched it. On the side of his face was a small Burn; no doubt due to the Chimchar's successful Ember attack. That, however, only seemed to serve to infuriate the red Riolu further, as he growled and glared at Jaye in anger, clenching his fists. However, he wasn't able to get around to actually making a move.

"...oof..." At the Force Palm, Jaye flew back through the air quite some distance. He was fortunate enough to avoid a tree but not fortunate enough to avoid getting a concussion. Starly and Staryu cluttered his vision after his head hit the ground, taking their time to clear up.
Groggily staggering to his feet, blinking to regain vision, he saw Red but not the Charmander. Hoping that this fact indicated that he was escaping, and also wishing him the best, the Chimchar slowly backed away. After a few steps he heedlessly turned tail and ran, thinking through the pounding headache, 'I was brave five minutes longer...I did my best...the rest is up to him...'

By the time Jaye was able to stagger to his feet, Red was already advancing on his position. The Riolu was getting closer. However, when the Chimchar started to run away, he didn't hesitate to leap forward. He used his Quick Attack to close in on Jaye too fast for him to really get anywhere after turning around. He jumped and rammed at the Chimchar's back, trying to slam him down as hard as he could into the ground. He then placed his palms down onto the Chimchar's shoulders, pinning them down. He was not about to let his prey start running away again at this point. He had lost his initial target, but at least he could drag one of them down....
"Now where the heck do you think YOU'RE going!?" Red growled down at the Chimchar. "You cost me my target. I'm not about to let you get away with that!"
As he said this, however, he looked up for a moment. He had just realized that he wasn't getting rained on anymore. The rain had just stopped and the sky was now beginning to clear. That certainly wasn't good. If this Chimchar realized that his Fire-type attacks weren't going to be hindered any longer, he might make things more difficult. And so, Red lifted a palm up into the air and it began to pulse with a red aura. He readied himself, prepared to slam a Force Palm down at Jaye's face if Jaye couldn't do anything.

Adrenaline, pain, adrenaline, pain...it reminded Jaye a lot of when he first woke up. How long ago was it now? Minutes? Hours? Surely it couldn't have been more than an hour, yet it seemed to be the better part of an eternity. Miss a step, almost trip, get back into the beat...beat...beat...beat. The dripping had stopped. Amidst the rush, Jaye considered that the dripping from the trees was getting weaker. Was the forest thicker or the rain stopping- oops, another misstep, no more time for thinking. Was the running even happening, or instead a figment of his imagination while being dazed?
So it went for what seemed long minutes, too. In reality, it was pretty much a figment of his imagination, until the point that Jaye went sprawling, tackled by his opponent. 'It hurts more than the headache. Definitely not my imagination.' The pendulum swung towards pain, then back towards adrenaline. In a snapshot of clear thought, knowing the harm the Riolu meant, Jaye did something like half of a Flame Wheel. The ground, regardless of the sky, was still wet and the fire probably wouldn't penetrate it - Jaye didn't even try. But aboveground, the Chimchar effectively burst into flames, which would hopefully not only dissuade Red but also give him some nasty burns. Then the pendulum swung back to pain and the thought ended while the fire still revolved.

Red growled a bit as he brought his paw down toward Jaye's face as hard as he could. However, before he could hit his foe, the Chimchar set himself on fire. The sudden flames caused Red to yelp a bit in pain and surprise. He recoiled from the intense flames and released his grip on the Chimchar. He stumbled off of his foe and fell over backward and onto his tail, wincing at the Burns that now stung on his palms. He attempted to simply shake off the pain that he felt quickly as he climbed back to his feet again. After all, he was leaving himself wide open for the Chimchar to turn this battle around. And he couldn't afford to allow that...not after losing his initial target like he had.
