Ashley awoke in the shade of a tree. This wasn't where she normally woke up. She would always wake up in her bed, no matter where she fell asleep. She looked around and could see a large, seemingly empty plain. A little too empty... there was one thing Ashley always woke up with. "M-mommy!?" The poor girl cried out. "Mommy!!" She called out again, hoping for an answer. Instead, there was silence. Realizing she was alone, Ashley began to feel scared. Wh-what was going to happen? Why was she here? Where was her mother!? "K-katie?" She called out, hoping her sister would show up. Again, there was no response.
The poor, lost little girl sat down and cried. She had never been so afraid in her life. What if she never saw her mommy again? What if she was stuck here forever? She was trembling in fear, crying even harder now. "Mommy! Katie! I-I'm scared!!!" She called out with a choked up voice.

It was an oddly serene day in the fields of Daetus, if a little on the cloudy side. There was not a lot of activity fauna-wise, and there was a calm tranquility... which was cut short by the crying of a frightened, bewildered little girl.
Despite the lack of souls in the vicinity, her cries did reach one individual. Leaping out of a nearby tree, a slender figure landed with the dexterity of a cat and approached the young Pichu gently. "Are you lost, little one?" The voice was soft, soothing. "Out here alone in a strange forest? It's harsh, suddenly losing track of everyone you know."
The figure stepped into the sunlight, where it could clearly be seen by Ashley, to show that it meant no harm. He was a Furret, his coat a little paler than average. His face portrayed a sympathetic, warm benevolence, and his posture was rather relaxed. "I know what it's like... to wake up in an unfamiliar location, nobody you know by your side... it is far too early for such chaos to happen to an innocent kid like yourself. There is no need to be afraid. I am a friend to all. You may call me Fred."
Fred the Furret stood docile, extending his paw and waiting for... hoping for the youngster to open up to him. There was a slight twitch in his tail - a sign to an observant eye as minor suppressed nervousness. But, it was fairly obvious that there was a great depth behind his eyes, as if this Pokemon had seen and experienced a lot in his time, and as if he had a longing to share that experience and to guide others.

Ashley jumped when she heard the voice. Last time she heard a voice, she was teleported... here.... wherever "here" was. She trembled in fear as the creature approached her. She looked down and closed her eyes.
Thankfully, the Ferret seemed friendly. When the normal-type asked if she was lost, the Pichu just nodded shyly. The girl was glad that he understood her, but she was just too shy to talk. She just nodded in reply to everything and when the Ferret held out his hand, she just stared at the hand for a little while. "I-.... I'm not-" She started, but her voice turned into a mumble and then a whisper.

Fred retracted his paw. "It's ok," he spoke, with only a hint of disappointment. "We probably should get into town before too long, these woods are... dangerous at times. There's a small village nearby, I can lead you to it. Once we're there, finding your family should be significantly easier. One moment."
He scurried to the top of the tree again and stood out on a thick, long branch to get a good look around. There wasn't much more to see from there as there was from the ground, but Fred scanned all of his surroundings as though he were looking for something in particular. He stayed in the tree for a few moments longer, then hasted down.
"Yes, I remember where it is now," he concluded in his typical collected fashion. "Nothing to worry about," he added, that slight nervousness returning to him for a split second, but disappearing just as quickly. "Please, follow me." He started for the northwest, maintaining a keen awareness of the environment.

"Y-you can h-help me find my s-sissy...?" Ashley asked, not knowing what "significantly" meant. She was hoping for a yes, and somewhat excited! She was going to see her sissy again! Although, she knew she wasn't supposed to talk to strangers, and she really wasn't supposed to follow them, but she didn't know what else to do at this point... she didn't want to stay out here all night... who knows how scary it would get?
She hesitantly followed behind the Ferret as it started to walk away. She decided the pokemon seemed nice and that he wouldn't hurt her. But she still kept a safe distance, just in case.

Fred carried through the field at a brisk pace, remaining silent. He'd look back occasionally to make sure Ashley was still following him, but he'd continue to say nothing. He'd also look around every now and then as if he thought he was being watched or followed, but the field seemed as empty as it was before.
A few minutes of uneventful walking later, Fred stopped suddenly. He was completely still. Perhaps he may have spotted something. Slowly, he turned towards Ashley and made a "shush" gesture with his paw, then waved for her to follow him. He creeped towards a bush, entering it noiselessly and peering through it while doing his best to hide from whatever it was.
There was a voice. "Sector 5B secure. No sign of him yet. Over."
There was a reply, muffled by static as if from a radio. "Nothing from 5A either. He can't have gone far. Keep searching. Over."
"Roger. Over and out."
Fred manipulated the brush such that he could get a better look at the speaker. It was a male Riolu, his fur a bit closer to cyan than blue, carrying what appeared to be a military-grade walkie-talkie. He sat down by a tree and sighed. "Why is this Fred guy so important to the Creator anyway? He's just a Furret... not even a human at that."
Fred twitched nervously. "We'll have to lie low until he moves out of the area," he whispered to Ashley. "We can't risk being spotted."

Ashley was scared out of her mind. She saw Fred's hand signals and heard these strangers talking with big words... they sounded like good guys... why were they searching for this Ferret? The poor Pichu started to let out a whimper that turned into crying. Not too loud, but considering how quiet Fred was trying to be, it sounded like a thunderstorm. She knew she had to be quiet, but she just couldn't hold it in... She curled up, trembling in fear. Hoping none of these strangers would come over and hurt her.

Fred was perfectly still, minus the occasional twitch, and he crouched, poised to spring in whatever direction the situation called for. He flinched ever-so-slightly as he heard Ashley crying... and the alert Riolu perked up at the noise. Fred turned around, a look of slight worry on his face. He couldn't think of much to do to comfort her without drawing even more attention to them, and he knew that panicking would only make it worse. The Riolu began to approach the bushes.
Fred held up his paw, telling Ashley to stay put as he darted from one bush to another at a surprising speed, and making hardly any sound. He then made his way to a nearby tree and scampered up it, beginning to walk along a branch that happened to hang just over the bush where Ashley was hiding. It seemed as though Fred had a plan; he stayed on the branch, watching the Riolu carefully and waiting.
The Riolu was none the wiser. There was a look of concern on his face as he got closer, as he could tell that the noise did not belong to the object of his pursuit, but rather, a distraught child. "Hello?" he asked, stopping a few feet before the bush as a gesture of docility. "It's ok, you have nothing to be afraid of. I'm a Dimensional Guard, and it's my job to protect this world and its inhabitants in the name of the Creator. Please, come on out, tell me what's wrong. I'll do my best to help."

The shy Pichu was overwhelmed. All she could do was look away from the Riolu, trembling in fear. She had no idea what a "dimensional" was, but she was too scared to ask. "I-.... I just want my sissy!" She suddenly cried out. The poor girl couldn't fend for herself! She needed her sister! She needed her mother! She needed someone! The only thing giving her any hope was the word "protect" which, from all the shows she watched, she knew was always good. "B-but... f-fred told me to st-stay quiet..." the clueless pokemon said, not realizing the importance of the situation.

The Riolu was taken aback by Ashley's outburst. One could tell that he wasn't used to dealing with children, but he tried to be as mature about it as possible. However, his outlook took on a completely different nature when she mentioned Fred. "You know where Fred is...?" he muttered, mostly to himself. He cleared his throat and kneeled down to her level. "Listen, and this is very important - I've been looking for Fred for a very long time now. He's a dangerous criminal..." He paused for a moment, remembering who he was explaining this to. "A very bad Pokemon, causing all kinds of trouble. And to protect this world, I have to catch him. If you tell me where he is, I'll help you find your sissy."
Fred knew that if he waited any longer, his window of opportunity would completely vanish. With several flips, Fred plunged out of the tree branch, landing cleanly on the Riolu's head and slinging his lower body around to slam him in the back. The Dimensional Guard had no time to react as he was launched past Ashley and into a tree with uncanny precision, knocking him out instantly. "We have to move," Fred hasted. "You can't trust the Guard, or anyone related to the Creator for that matter. I'll explain on the way."

Ashley drew back when she heard that Fred was a criminal.... he seemed so nice... how could he be a bad guy? Maybe this was why she was never supposed to talk to strangers... "H-how is he a b-bad guy...?" the frightened child stuttered, feeling betrayed.
It wasn't long before Fred dropped from the tree and attacked the Riolu. Ashley drew back in shock. Then the ferret forced a really hard decision on her. How could she know who to trust? Fred was nice and he told her the Riolu couldn't be trusted, but he could also just be saying that to get her to trust him.... the poor girl couldn't decide. She just sat there and cried harder. I-... I don't know! I just want to go back home!!" She shouted in tears.

Fred started forward, but stopped immediately as he heard the girl crying out again. He had anticipated, yet dreaded this reaction. He turned around, putting his urgency on hold for the time being to level with her. "I understand the confusion," he said softly. "But sometimes, it can be very hard to tell between good and bad. Even for grown-ups such as myself." He glanced away for a moment as if reliving a painful memory, but his expression only barely supported that idea. It appeared as though he was trying to hide his emotions in order to retain an air of focused calmness. "There's no telling if the next Pokemon you meet will have good intentions. Please, come with me and I will help you find your way home. That is a promise."
Radio static filled the air, causing Fred to jump slightly. "Blue Hawk, come in. I've picked up on a local disturbance that may be related to our cause. Over."
Fred grew slightly alarmed, as there would be no response to that message, and it wouldn't be long before the speaker figured out something was up. "We must continue. Once we enter the village, we'll be safe. Of that, I'm sure."

Ashley didn't know what to say. She was afraid of what would happen either way. She looked over at the two strange pokemon, then back to Fred. She was afraid soneone would hurt her if she picked the wrong one. Both of them tried to cheer her out of crying... but only one promised to take her back home. "O- okay..." She muttered after a while. She proceeded to walk toward Fred's direction.
She was afraid that she might be following a bad guy, but at least she was going to see her mommy and sissy again. She couldn't wait for that. She only hoped she wouldn't turn into a bad girl by doing this. The other pokemon seemed to be police of some kind...
