The following is a list of special rules in the RP semantics of DN2. If you wish to know about how a move works in RP form, for example, or if you have another specific exception or issue, please post here and I will edit the list to include the specifics of that rule.
Ditto
Ditto is a very unique Pokemon in that it can Transform at will to any Pokemon that it sees. In DN2, there is already a shapeshifting system in place. Ditto's method is rather unstable; whenever it transforms, it can only remain in that form for around one hour. In addition, only the standard moveset of the Pokemon is available to Ditto; no matter how high the Power of either Ditto or the specific Pokemon, it cannot use any advanced moves. On the other hand, if Ditto is able to transform into a certain species enough times, and if they have seen enough specimens of the given species (mod's discretion), Ditto will be able to add it to its official Form list, like any other Pokemon with multiple Forms. Then, the Ditto can shift into that particular Pokemon any time, for as long as it wants, and can take advantage of its advanced moves.
Double Team
There have been issues over this move in the past. From the time of writing on, the following will be the official effect of Double Team; any instances before then are excused and do not need to be changed. Double Team creates any number of nonsolid clones (final amount depends on the user's will and Power). These clones can move and act independently of one another, but they cannot do physical damage to an opponent or otherwise interact with solid objects. They disappear upon coming into contact with an opponent's attack. The move can still be used to create a diversion while the real Pokemon sneaks out of harm's way and attacks from behind, etc. and the clones may act like they're making an attack, but remember that they cannot emit sound or projectiles, in addition to being unable to come into contact with a solid object/Pokemon.
Form Limits
Since there appears to be no limit for Forms, it is presumed that one can collect infinite Forms. However, a natural limit is in place. If one obtains more than six Forms, he/she becomes unstable; switching Forms unexpectedly, being unable to change to the desired Form, etc. It is recommended that you store extra Forms in Form Vials when you are not using them. (Forms in Form Vials do not earn Power from battles.)
Form Gender
First off, yes, it is possible for a male Pokemon to obtain a female Form, and vice-versa. No other Forms are affected by a gender change; in other words, a male can switch to a female at will if they obtain such a Form. But there are certain rules when it comes to gender-swapping (note that the terms male and female can be interchanged in the following statements):
Male Pokemon gets female form that can be male: The player can choose the gender of the new form only at the time it is collected (including from a trade).
Male Pokemon gets male form (same gender): The form must remain the same gender. It cannot be changed to the opposite.
Male Pokemon gets female-only form: They can assume the form, but only as the form's original gender (no choice).
Forms are exchanged between male and female: Both players have a separate choice to choose either gender for their forms.
Color schemes: The color schemes of any and all forms can be chosen with full creativity. They do not have to match the original scheme.
Last Resort
In the First Dimension, Last Resort is a move that can only be used when the Power Points of all other moves have been used up. Since there's no such thing as PP in DN2, Last Resort works differently. If the character is in a desperate situation, and they really have no other options, they can use Last Resort. It's up to the mod whether it works or not.
Natural Pokemon Abilities
Some Pokemon have abilities that humans don't normally use; bird Pokemon can fly, fish can swim and breathe underwater, etc. in addition to Pokemon moves and supernatural abilities such as psychics. These are automatically mastered by the force we all know as instinct. However, in order to master this skill or move, your character must allow the instinct to take control and not concentrate too hard on it; he/she must let it "flow". For example, Ian is a Natu, a bird Pokemon. He can fly at any time, but if he tries too hard (overrides the naturally learned wing movements and etc. that come instinctively) he'll hit the ground. He must take off and let his instinct (or the cerebellum of his Natu brain, when put into biological terms) guide his flight, and he can make directional adjustments at will. In short, your character can perform the Pokemon's natural abilities if they just let the Pokemon body they are in do the work.
Nincada and Evolution
When Nincada evolves in the First Dimension, not only does the trainer get Ninjask, but he/she also obtains a Shedinja from thin air. In DN2, the Ninjask receives Shedinja as well, but as an alternate Form. So, at any time, all Ninjask can shift into Shedinja, as long as the Form has not been traded or stolen.
Smeargle and Sketch
Sketch is a very special move; in the Pokemon game, Smeargle could use it to permanently learn the move last used in battle, to be put in place of Sketch. In roleplaying, particularly this type, Pokemon can use any move in their moveset, regardless of level (or in this case Power). So, if it followed the standards, Smeargle could use Sketch at any time and could learn an infinite number of moves. Which is totally unfair. So, here is how to use Sketch in DN2:
1. You do not have to announce that you are using Sketch. If you witness a move, in battle or not, you are automatically using it.
2. The move must be seen at least 3 times for you to be able to use it fully. The exception is the first 3 moves that you learn with it; you only need to see them once to be able to use it yourself.
3. Please keep track of your learned moves in your character's profile, and it may be a good idea to keep track of the number of times you've seen each move as well.
4. You can only have up to 10 fully-learned moves at one time. If you are going on 11, you must erase one of the previous moves, and you will not be able to use it until...(see next rule)
5. An erased move is treated as a "seen twice" move. That is, if you erase a move, you can relearn it after seeing it only one more time.
Vampire Pokemon
There have been a few vampire characters in DN2. This is perfectly all right, since everyone is allowed to RP as they want here, and if they like vampires, they should be allowed to use vampires. However, there are a few restrictions in place:
1. Vampires, in comparison to other DN2 Pokemon, are not naturally stronger. The level of Power is still the absolute measure of strength, and vampires do not naturally increase faster or start with more (see point 4).
2. Vampires become mortal in DN2; they can die by any normal means.
3. Most special abilities that a vampire may have in the real world are negated in DN2, with the exception of the thirst and ability to drink blood.
4. Through private negotiations with a staff member, a vampire can earn extra Power or regain their real-world abilities, but they must be willing to give up something in-game (such as a lot of money, a temporary weakness, a stronger thirst for blood, etc). This is up to the staff member, and I recommend coming to me if you have any such questions. I'm not sure how the others would handle such things...lol.
