Name: Mabel Dotson
Nickname: Mabel
Gender: Female
Age: 21
Starter: Cranidos
Initial Power: 70
Initial Wealth: 220
Appearance:
As a Cranidos, the patches of color that are normally blue are actually green for her. She's also a little bit shorter than average, and has profound, baby blue eyes.
Personality: Mabel has always been interested in the pursuit of knowledge. She is very fond of learning, and is constantly looking around to observe new things, or explore new places. Her favorite subject is psychology; she loves to look deep into the subconscious of a person and find out what makes them tick. Sometimes, she'll push a particular action to provoke or annoy someone, but she swears that it's "for science".
Mabel isn't shy about meeting new people in the slightest; she is always very open and intimate. She loves to hear about a person's history, likes and dislikes, even odd habits, as any information she can get about a person adds to her idea of what their subconscious is like. As such, she is very understanding and empathetic towards other people, and tries her best to keep everyone in a good mood.
Of course, her thirst for knowledge and information often leaves her mind wandering for minutes, sometimes hours at a time as she takes in and processes several stimuli at once. It might take a few loud snaps or yells to get her back to reality. Often, her passion towards learning distracts her from the negatives of an occurrence; she is more interested in the cause than the effect.
Nature: Oblivious, Thoughtful
Biography: Mabel never really got to meet her mother. A year or so after she was born, her mother left for some reason or another; her father never liked to talk about it. So, Mabel grew up as an only child in a small house, raised by her father alone. Occasionally, her uncle would come for a visit and she would get to play with her two cousins for a while; they were the closest she's had to siblings, and she had always wished that she could have had a brother or sister of her very own.
Mabel's dad was a college professor of physics and biology, and had high expectations of his daughter. He would occasionally come home and give her a synopsis of the lesson he had taught his class that day, and she listened eagerly to everything he had to say. It always left her thirsty for more, so when she was older, she would sometimes go to the library with her cousins and do a bit of recreational research.
Around the time that Mabel turned 14, her father met another woman. He didn't say much about her to his daughter, and as the months went on, he began to pay less and less attention to Mabel as he stayed out late at night almost every weekend. Mabel was curious as to why her dad was suddenly ignoring her... So, she traveled to the library once more, hoping to stumble across some sort of answer. That is how she became interested in psychology. She came to the conclusion that her father subconsciously gave Mabel less thought, because he wasn't used to having a lady around while taking care of a child. But this didn't faze Mabel as much as it could have; she learned that the subconscious is a part of the brain that is hard to control, and yet influences every aspect of thought. She understood what her father was going through, and devoted much of her time to studying by herself, or with her cousins or friends. She didn't want to get in the way of her father's social life, so she kept to herself most of the time.
Long story short, she graduated from high school with flying colors, and went on to pursue a college degree in psychology. But college life was not what she had imagined it to be. It was stressful, and at times, boring. She found less time for her personal studies, and when she finally got around to them, they weren't as rewarding as she remembered. She began to wonder if there was even a point to all that work.
And, one day, as she was walking through an otherwise empty hallway, lamenting about several upcoming exams, a voice spoke to her...
"Education isn't as fun as it used to be, isn't it?"
Mabel looked around, half-wondering who had said that, but had to agree with the voice. "Yeah... Now it just seems dull and restrictive..."
"What if I could show you a world where discoveries are always around the corner, and where you don't have to worry about writing 50-page reports on said discoveries...?"
Mabel responded with a sarcastic chuckle. "Yeah, in my dreams..."
"This is the land of your dreams. Enter, and you will escape to a world like you've never seen before. A new life is waiting for you, Mabel..."
She turned around, and saw a massive glowing vortex of orange and purple. She stared at the portal, flabbergasted - and the next thing she knew, she was falling through it...
