((This is a continuation from this thread.)) Well-fed, well-rested and well-enthused, Bob Sladfigy trotted across the border of Tyric Town, humming a heroic song to himself. He had a very clear goal in mind: head over to Aina Forest to chase down some criminals who did some things to some people. There he would do something to make them stop doing things, and get something in return. It couldn't be any more clear for him. And despite the apparent gravity of the situation (or what's left of it in Bob's mind), his thoughts were full of rainbows and sunshine. Just another fabulous adventure with his faithful yet unimportant Wingull sidekick whose name Bob definitely remembered!
"Hey, Billy," Bob called to the bird, "are we going the right way? Actually, I don't really care, this is fun!" Even though he had only been out of town for 10 minutes, and in that time nothing had happened, he was already having a blast. All he has ever really needed was a wide open field to run around in and a friend or two to pretend to share it with. He continued humming, forgetting the rest of his original plan.

While Bob's mind was full of happy, perhaps even glittery things, Buddy's mind was almost the complete opposite. One could practically see the rain cloud over his head as he flew after Bob. The ungrateful Zigzagoon couldn't even remember the name he had given him. Although "Buddy" wasn't his name, "Billy" was even further from the truth, in his mind at least. It was probably too late to tell Bob his actual name though. If he couldn't even remember the name he had made up and given to "Billy", he would never be able to remember the Wingull's actual name. But it didn't matter. Not right now. They had bigger things to worry about, like the two criminal Pokemon they had to go after.
'They're both Bug-types...which means I have a type advantage over both of them. This could work out in my favor, right...?' Buddy was constantly trying to convince himself that this battle wouldn't end badly. But being with Bob gave him little to no confidence. Shockingly enough, they were traveling in the right direction, even with Bob in the lead. It wasn't hard; Tyric Town and Aina Forest were connected through the Tunican Field thanks to a dirt path between the two. The town and the forest had always been near each other, so they were both popular traveling destinations for Pokemon. Surprisingly enough, nobody else seemed to be walking along the path today. The only thing that could be seen were a few small, boring clumps of grass that seemed to be growing along the path.
"We're going the right way." Buddy said as loud as he could, so that Bob might be able to hear him through his humming. The way they were going, it would probably take less then ten minutes to get there. They were already starting to see Aina Forest in the distance, which totally took attention away from the fact that the boring clumps of grass were starting to move.

"Oh, cool," replied Bob, "cause I thought that might have been a different cluster of trees for a moment. And then I started thinking about candy." Despite not being any more hungry than he was 30 seconds prior, he was beginning to salivate already at the thought of more sweets. He almost wanted to dig into his massive stash of berries and desserts, but he snapped out of it, realizing that he should probably save them for when he needs them. The odd fact that they seemed to be completely alone in the field was the last thing on his mind. Right under the name he had given to the Wingull.
Up ahead, Bob could register some grass moving around, but his tunnel vision for the forest prevented him from noticing it directly and his subconscious brain shrugged it off as wind or something completely harmless. Besides, Bob was off to challenge some murderers! A bunch of grass was nothing to worry about at that point. Bob's song transitioned into a robust march.

The movement caused by the nearby clumps of grass seemed to die down as Bob began to march. Even Buddy, scared and cautious as he usually was, didn't seem to take much notice of them. He actually thought they were kind of nice. Each clump of grass seemed to be perfectly rounded. So much so that they actually looked like little circles going along the path to Aina forest. The only complaint he would have had was the consistency. There were only nine little clumps in all; six on the right side, and three on the left. The six clumps on the right were spaced out by threes, which made enough sense. But then why were there only three clumps on the left side, and not six?
Buddy decided that it might have been an unfinished project. Or something that another Pokemon was still working on. After all, he highly doubted that Dimension Number 2 had a beautification organization. Grass-types made up a big number of the population in the field, forest and town; Not to mention the Pokemon species as a whole. There wasn't much need for such an organization around here. 'We're almost there...' [/color]He turned his thoughts away from the grass completely. They had long passed the clumps anyhow.
"...Bob. Are you any good at fighting Bug-types?" It seemed like a silly question. But Buddy was seriously starting to fret about the two that they were supposed to confront. Criminals were never easy targets. They were usually good at running, fighting, or both. Buddy of course, had a bad feeling that they would be the fighting kind.

Bob looked back at Buddy incredulously. "Are you kidding?" he said between chuckles, "I can squash Bug-types as easily as if they were... bugs. Which is why they are so easy to squash." He looked forward again. "In fact, I'd say bugs are the most squashable Pokemon ever. Next to Ditto and Jigglypuff." He wondered if there were other squashable Pokemon. He looked back at the Wingull, and imagined trying to squeezing him between his paws. He was certainly cute enough; it was plausible. He swiveled back to the front again, suddenly wanting a Wingull plushie.
His thoughts changed in about 5 seconds, however, back to the adventure he was having - which in all actuality wasn't particularly exciting. They were just traveling down a simple road through an empty field with grass towards a forest with trees and bugs to squash. As exciting as the latter-most part would be, that didn't make up for the fact that Bob wanted some action NOW. He looked back at Buddy again. "Hey Bobby..." he addressed, still failing to at least maintain consistency for his forgetfulness, "Think maybe we could spar a bit? Like, what if these bugs aren't all that simple to squash? Some practice wouldn't hurt, right?" And if the Wingull refused to fight Bob, the conversation that ensued would at least preoccupy him until they got there.

Everything seemed to be going well enough. That is, until Bob's brain hatched it's latest idea. Buddy's wings twitched in irritation and he didn't even notice that Bob changed the name again. "WHAT? WE'RE ALMOST THERE AND YOU WANT TO BATTLE?" He squawked, despite his best efforts to restrain himself. It really didn't surprise him. It actually made sense that Bob would want to stop their progress and do something that really didn't seem like a very good idea. Except for the fact that he did almost have a point. If the Bug-types were really tough, as many criminals probably were, wouldn't it make sense to be prepared for them? That way they might actually be ABLE to "squash" them.
Buddy might have agreed, reluctantly, if he felt like that was Bob's real reason for wanting to spar. "You just want to beat me up." Buddy accused in a sulking voice. Just by traveling with Bob, he was beginning to understand the Zigzagoon more. Or so he thought. And of course, he also thought the it was a scary thought. "It's little depressing that I was able to catch that..." Buddy added, an anime sweatdrop forming on his head. 'He can get his practice on some other poor, unsuspecting Pokemon...' He added to his thoughts. It looked like Bob was going to get his chance soon enough. The entrance to Aina Forest was in clear view.
"Hey, look, more clumps of grass." Buddy wanted to change the topic desperately. He didn't even know if Bob had seen the grass from earlier. But he was right. Circular clumps of grass, just like the ones they had seen further back on the path, had appeared again. This time, they were near the entrance to Aina Forest. And just like last time, they were growing in groups of three, with three clumps on grass on the left and six on the right. "They look like the same grass we passed on the way here." Buddy suddenly shivered.

Bob nodded repeatedly as the Wingull squawked at him. He did want to battle. And it was better to get all the training out of the way before entering the dungeon; training a team was a very familiar concept to Bob being a high-class trainer in his human days. He would often pit his own Pokemon against each other without giving orders, letting them devise their own strategy while Bob sat back and watched with a portable lawn chair and a can of lemonade or an equally refreshing beverage. He would give advice every now and then, but mostly he just took notes and quenched his thirst. Suddenly he was very thirsty.
And then Buddy's next statement threw him for a loop. Just wanting to beat him up?! That was absurd! "This is absurd!" repeated Bob. "I'll have you know that I happen to come from a very competitive background, and I know when and when not to train!" Bob was genuinely angry for perhaps the first time in quite a while. If there's one thing never to talk down to Bob about, it's battling. He could have went on about it, but by that time Buddy had already attempted to change the subject. "Fine, fine," continued Bob, trying to find his cool, "If you don't want to fight me, then we'll look for other Pokemon to spar with and/or recruit. The more the merrier, you know. Plus, we could use a Fire or Rock type or something. And some juice. Man, I'm parched." Bob began to wander off of the main path, searching primarily for juicy berries and secondarily for other Pokemon to confront before taking on the big challenge.

Although Buddy was surprised at Bob's actual anger, he still held on to his belief firmly. Bob just wanted to show off his great battling skills or something. That's all he was getting from his"competitive" trainer background. He wasn't about to let the Zigzagoon fight him. If Bob wanted Buddy to train so badly, fine. But it wasn't going to be against Bob. That idea was the only thing that was "absurd". That being said, he also wasn't going to mention the fact that there probably wouldn't be any Fire or Rock-types in Aina Forest. It was a forest after all; Why would they be hanging around in there? The best thing that Buddy was probably going to be able to train on were Bug-types. Maybe a Caterpie or Wurmple or something. His attempt to change the subject only worked half way. Bob was calming down, but he was still going on about battling. Buddy didn't care much if other Pokemon joined them or not. So long as he wasn't bullied by them, it was going to be fine. Maybe they could even find a Pokemon Bob liked better then Buddy. Then Buddy could leave and be free of Bob for awhile. It didn't hurt to dream. ~You may now make a thread in the Aina Forest!~
