Ansgar and Vito made their way to the clearing in the middle of the forest. Well, okay. It wasn't a clearing BEFORE the trap had gone off, but it was now. Kind of.
Vito hurdled over a tree that looked like it had been forcefully ripped from the ground, roots and all. There were five other trees in the clearing just like it, along with six large, irregular holes where the trees had last been upright. In the center was a large, fogged up bubble that had been frozen solid. It was impossible to see exactly what was going on inside,
"Couldn't you have done this with a little more... I dunno, Subtlety? Isn't that usually your thing?" Vito shot at Ansgar, mildly disgusted by how many signs there now were that the three of them, Ansgar, Haru, and himself, had been there.
"Normally, yes. But considering all the two of you could tell me about this guy was he was a Dimensional Guard member and he had something valuable on him, I had to be sure the trap would work on pretty much anyone who fit that description. I can replace the trees before we leave if it will make you feel better, but I'd like to point out that no matter what we have a witness at this point." Ansgar offered, but didn't stop to bother with whether Vito was actually reassured or not. "Regardless, if I did this right, which we know I did, the ice should have been thick enough that the Lucario shouldn't have been able to get out until we made it here, assuming he tried. Even if he did, if he knows anything about the type of company you're keeping lately, Vito, I would guess he's waiting for us to make the first move. Either way, he knows we're here."
Specifically, if he's waiting, he's waiting for Haru to make the first move. Ansgar thought to himself But even then, I don't know anything about this guy yet or what makes him tick.
Ansgar made his way to the other side of the bubble, making sure he was ready for whatever happened next.
Vito crossed his arms and scowled at the bubble. "I swear these guys swarm worse than bug types when it comes to me. It'll feel good to finally get to beat the crap out of one of these guys again."

The trap had gone off with a bit more of a bang than he had originally expected. He wasn't used to the Empoleon making his traps this grandiose. Still, though, he could hardly argue with the results. Especially considering this particular Lucario's capture was all Haru had even wanted in the first place. After all...his whole thing was HIS idea.
He still had no idea what he was after. All he knew was that, when he discovered he presence of this other Lucario, he had sensed something on his person. Whatever it was gave off some kind of strange aura signature. It was almost as though it were actually able to call out to him. He almost felt like whatever was in his possession wanted a different owner, and that only a Lucario like himself was to have it. Not even Haru could explain those feelings, but the moment he sensed that object...he just knew ha he absolutely had to have it.
When Haru had brought it up to the other two, Vito and Ansgar, they had nearly dismissed it. But he had been able to convince them that this would be worth their time and effort, even if they had to make a hasty escape before they were swarmed with additional Guard members. So now, he just had to make absolutely sure that they successfully acquired whatever it was that this Lucario was carrying and hope that it was as important as his aura senses were telling him it was.
When Ansgar's trap had gone off, he had been slightly too close to the blast zone and had nearly been caught in it. But thankfully, he had the foresight to make sure he could Detect anything that might have happened and he ended up just fine anyway. But now that the trap had been set off, Haru found himself making his way toward the large, icy prison that currently detained the other Lucario. He had been assured by his ally that he would not be escaping. When Haru finally stepped up to the spherical prison, he examined it to see if he could get a good look at whatever was inside. But no dice; the ice was completely fogged over. He did, however, quickly close his eyes and allow his senses to dim, which let him see he aura signatures of those around him. And sure enough, the same aura signatures were inside this sphere, from both the Lucario and whatever it was in his possession.
"Heheh...I guess you guys aren't as tough and clever as you make yourselves out to be, are ya?" Haru taunted, patting the iced bubble with his left paw and rubbing its surprisingly smooth surface for a moment. "Maybe I shouldn't have bothered the others and just handled you myself." With that, he reached back his right arm, clenched his paw into a fist, and slammed it powerfully up against the ice. The ice cracked slightly underneath the muscle behind his normal punch, but did not do any kind of significant damage.
'Damn...this thing's damn near unbreakable.' he thought to himself, mentally flinching slightly as his paw ached from punching a solid wall of ice with nothing more than his muscle.

Immediately following Haru's punch into the solid ice bubble, were he to continue closely monitoring the aura inside, he might have noticed something peculiar. The aura from the trapped Lucario and that of the object he had been carrying both intensified for a brief moment, then steadily shifted to become one singular signature - one with a strength the product of both combined.
This was the only warning Haru would get before the ice wall directly in front of him shattered from the point of the crack, giving way to a huge beam of white energy. A wave of pure aura, it crashed through everything in its wake, sending shards of ice and chunks of dirt in all directions.
When it faded, a figure jumped out of the now-several-feet-wide hole in the ice. This was no ordinary Lucario. Menacing with many additional spikes and black streaks of fur, his form was even fiercer and more commanding than the standard Dimensional Guard appearance that the onlookers were more than familiar with by now. His face carried a cold, business-like expression, as though neither his prior imprisonment nor his task of apprehending three notorious outlaws remotely fazed him. To this Guard, these were little more than petty obstacles standing in his way.
"Your cheap trick might have worked on my subordinates," the Mega Lucario admitted without a second thought. He quickly pinpointed Haru by honing in on his aura signature, and he stared down the other Lucario with his piercing red eyes, standing tall and proud as a symbol of the Creator's maximum potential and influence. It was obvious that Haru was the weakest link in their little band of traveling rogues, and he aimed to exploit this fact as far as possible. "The difference between me and them is that I don't mess around."
As he exerted his intimidation tactics on Haru, he made sure to locate the auras of his other two targets as well. He lowered his stance as though he were about to charge at Haru, but at the last second, he changed his focus to Vito, closing in rapidly on his location with Extremespeed. To say that his movements were a blur was an understatement. The power granted to the topmost-ranking Dimensional Guard by his Mega Stone was sufficient to turn him into a living bullet. If his plan to catch Vito off-guard succeeded, he might be able to take out the Weavile before he could pull off the stunt he had become so infamous for, effectively ending the annoying struggle before it even begins.

SMACK
The Lucario made contact with the Weavile, throwing him backwards so quickly that when the clone poofed, it looked as though he may as well have simply burst into flame instead.
Ansgar watched the scene unfold. This certainly wasn't good. Spontaneously evolving in the middle of combat? Ansgar felt like he had seen this somewhere before, but he certainly wasn't confident he knew anything about this. And this Lucario talking about his subordinates. Clearly they were picking a fight with a high ranking Guard member. That wasn't good. As far as Ansgar was concerned, this meant things were about to get dicey. But he had to keep the upper hand.
"Right," Ansgar began, doing his best to avoid showing that he was suddenly unsure of his current plan, "Sorry about the letdown, but Vito is stretched really thin these days. He'll be along shortly, I promise. But he asked me to pass along a message. No that wasn't it... not a message, a reminder." Ansgar delivered his line with as much Swagger as he could muster "He wanted to remind you that the first one is always a clone"
As Ansgar said this, 3 more Vitos emerged from equidistant points on the treeline, each taking cover behind a fallen tree. Ansgar was still doing his best to size this guy up. If there was anything they could use to gain an edge, Ansgar knew he had to find it.

Haru had smirked slightly as he go no initial reaction from his punch. He didn't even seem to be struggling in the slightest! Had he already realized how outnumbered and outmatched he was? Maybe he reason he wasn't seeing any reactions in that bubble of his was because he was willing to simply surrender. As unlikely as that scenario was, Haru loved to play with it in his head and he allowed it to fill his mind to the point where he was practically convinced of its factual nature. He did not even bother monitoring his foe's aura signature like he was supposed to. That was the main reason he was allowed to be closer than the others, after all.
He quickly came to regret that decision.
"Well, I think we might be willing to accept your sur-" he started, but stopped immediately when he realized that there was some kind of white glow emanating from within the bubble prison. He took a half step closer to examine the sphere, but was immediately met with a burst of white energy, blasting the wall of ice to shreds. "GRAH!" Haru cried out as the blast took him completely by surprise. He was thrown back, landing hard on his tail while ice shards pelted him from the front. He raised his arm to protect his head as well as shield his eyes from the lingering light.
When the light faded, Haru found himself seated at the feet of a very...intimidating figure. Where had this monstrosity come from? Sure, he resembled a Lucario, but there were some drastic difference; most notably the extra spikes, streaks, and red tips to his paws and aura sensors. And he bore such an apathetic expression, despite the trap that had just been sprung. This...this couldn't truly be the same Lucario...could it?
And then he Lucario looked a him. Just...just looked him in the eye. And he froze. No matter how much his mind told him to get up and punch this Creator-favored prick in the face...he couldn't move. His eyes were wide as he stared up at his enemy. Why couldn't he move!? Did it have something to do with the fact that he was facing what was obviously a suped-up version of his own species? He certainly didn't have any trouble standing up to Lucario back when he was a Riolu. And yet, even as the Lucario crouched down and prepared to attack, he was stuck in place. Even as he Lucario changed direction and began his attack on his teammates, he had nothing.
He had no idea how to cope. Suddenly...he just felt extremely overwhelmed by this Pokémon's sheer presence. For the first time since everything had started getting serious after the tournament, he suddenly felt over his head. He hadn't felt this cold grip of uselessness and fear since his early days of fighting the Guard as a Riolu years ago. And once again, he momentarily started to doubt the possibility of overcoming a force as powerful as the Guard.
His teammates had already begun their counterattack. But he was still seated before the shattered, icy prison, staring in shock at the hole in front of him, almost visibly shaking. And his body was still refusing to engage, despite the fact that he knew his teammates would probably need his help.

The connection was not as solid as the Guard had hoped, which could only mean one thing: the Weavile he hit was not the real Vito. He should've known that the criminal mastermind would not have been dumb enough to approach the trap unprepared. 'Guess luck is not on my side today...' he mused internally. 'Not that I ever need it.'
He began to concentrate on his surroundings, creating a mental map of all nearby aura signatures so that he could better identify Vito's location. Immediately, he found multiple identical signatures around him. The annoying thing about Double Clone was that all clones had the exact same aura as the original, so they were impossible to tell apart - at least right away. But if he could find the reading that was the most hidden, the most protected, chances are that was the Vito he needed to target. He could not find any beyond the three that were surrounding him now, however.
His efforts were interrupted by a speech from the third mark, Ansgar the Empoleon. The oddball. Not even the Dimensonal Guard knew much about him, aside from the fact that he always seemed to be two steps ahead of everyone. The Mega Lucario deemed him a lower priority target, at least lower than Vito. And yet, he couldn't help but feel slightly enraged at Ansgar's words. Invigorated, even. Of course he knew that the first Vito was a clone. What did this guy take him for, some rookie?
He turned in the Empoleon's direction almost blindly, hastily changing targets... but he paused, remembering his training. He'd learned to identify moves such as these, even cleverly disguised as ordinary banter. He managed to retain self-control long enough to fish out a small object - a cream-colored pill, which he swallowed without hesitation. The pill, being a concentrated dosage of Persim Berry, cleared his mind almost instantaneously, leaving him with only the attack boost from Swagger.
He returned to his original task. Could the real Vito really be one of these three? If so, it would make sense that his ally would attempt to draw his attention away from Vito. If Ansgar knew they were all clones, he might be perfectly content watching the Guard waste his efforts on them.
It was decided. The Guard chose one Vito at random and charged at him again, this time with a Power-Up Punch. Even if he was wrong, his strength would be boosted further, and if he were to keep that up, he would reach a point where he could take out Ansgar with a single blow, leaving him with little distractions.

Ansgar, disappointed, watched the scene unfold and fall apart. The failed swagger, followed by the swift recovery and continued warpath of their opponent.
POOF
Another clone down. The other two Vitos each took their own action. One let out a deafening Screech at the enemy Lucario, just as he was making contact with the clone. The other one began sharpening his claws using Hone Claws. As he did this, he shot orders aside to Ansgar. "What are you waiting for!? Do it again! We can't afford to let the plan fall apart. We need him confused, and there's no way he's come THAT prepared."
Ansgar let out a huff, but obliged without another word to the Weavile. "Hey guard! I hear tell your mother is so unkempt that the Visdumia museum placed her in the Primeape exhibit," Ansgar blurted with as much Swagger as he could muster. His heart wasn't really in it, but for a burn like that Ansgar figured it shouldn't matter.

Haru was still seated before the remains of the ice prison. However, after what seemed like a lengthy amount of time to his mind, he finally shook his head. The sounds of the battle from some distance away caught his attention. He turned his head and saw his allies struggling to keep their foe at bay. Meanwhile, here he was simply sitting there. He couldn't believe himself. What was he doing? He had just let a member of the Dimensional Guard kick him around without even really throwing a punch. Haru looked down at his right paw for a moment and saw that it was shaking. He just stared at it for a moment before narrowing his eyes slightly and clenching it into a fist. He gripped the air in his palm more tightly than necessary in an attempt to stop it from shaking.
Once he had done that, he found himself more able to command his body, bypassing whatever mental barriers were blocking his commands from reaching it. He stood up once again, standing tall and looking toward the battle that was underway. He couldn't allow this Guard member to get the better of him without a proper fight. Especially since this was his idea in the first place. Even if this Guard member turned out to be more powerful than they could handle, at least he would not find himself cowering in fear of the might of the Guard. He had long-since moved past those days. The sole reason he had decided to accept Vito's offer in the first place was to get a chance to stomp them flat...and he was not about to blow it just because one of them could inexplicably grow twice as powerful as before.
Haru finally nodded to himself, steeling himself for the battle ahead. And he was going to start by showing that he meant business. He clenched his fist again and began to build up strength behind it. He had one goal in mind right now. And he was going to make this work for him. He watched and waited for a moment, looking for a time when the Mega Lucario would be busy dealing with Vito and Ansgar to worry too much about him making his way forward. He would probably not be able to hide from his target's aura reading abilities more than likely. But if he was too preoccupied with the ones he perceived as the greater threats, maybe he could sneak one in anyway.
Finally, he saw it. The Lucario had turned and moved to strike one of the three Weavile that had emerged from their hiding places and Ansgar taunt him for a moment. If he was going to sneak an attack in, this was his time. He dashed forward, pulling his right arm back, lowered it so that it was dragging along the ground and concentrated. Stone began to form around his paw like a glove as he dashed across the forest floor, speeding himself up with his Quick Attack. He was not as fast as this other Lucario, but if nothing else, he planned to make him acknowledge his presence on the battlefield.
If he could get close enough, he would swing his stone-covered fist forward, aiming to strike the Lucario as powerfully as he could in the pit of his stomach. If that side of his body was inaccessible, then any part of his head would do almost as nicely. His Stone Fist attack of choice was a Rock-type move, so it was obviously not intended to deal too much damage. But he aimed to make the Lucario Flinch upon connecting. But for now, he was perfectly fine with his choice. He didn't need an effective move here. He was going to prove his worth by his own strength.
And he was going to teach this Dimensional Guard a lesson about belittling his strength and underestimating him.

The Guard was only slightly disappointed when his target faded into nothingness again. He only had a 1/3 chance of guessing correctly, assuming the real one was one of those three to begin with. Didn't matter to him in the end; he could still feel his muscles harden regardless.
As the deafening noise from the Screech attack reached his ears, he whipped around to observe his assailant. The other Vito had used a self-buffing move and was barking orders to the Empoleon. There was a pretty good chance that this was the real Vito, or else the Hone Claws could have been wasted. He didn't put that sort of tactic behind him, having a clone use a move like that and act leaderly in order to bait the foe into attacking. Furthermore, if he attacked Hone Claws Vito and it turned out to be a clone, that would leave him wide open to an attack from the other after lowering his guard with Screech.
He took the second Swagger in stride. "Fool me once, shame on you..." he recited, popping another pill into his mouth. As he did so, he shuddered ever so slightly - unnoticeable to all but the keenest of eyes. He decided, once again, to ignore Ansgar in favor of Vito. Attacking either Weavile would be risky, so he decided on a compromise. He brought his paws toward the center of his body, beginning to form an Aura Sphere. The Sphere pulsed and sparked from the sheer power that the Mega Lucario was able to put into it. When it got big enough, a feat that only took a couple of seconds, he separated his arms, causing the Aura Sphere to split in two. Yes, he did not want to bother with targeting just one of the clones - he'd hit them both at the same time, just to be sure.
However... he had failed to account for what would happen next. Haru, the enemy that he thought had been rendered unable to act for a good while, had come out of nowhere with a speed he did not anticipate. He might have been able to react even then, if it weren't for his concentration on maintaining two Aura Spheres at once. The Stone Fist attack connected, and although it didn't inflict any visible damage, it was sudden and forceful enough to cause him to lose his focus. The spheres dissipated with a loud crack, and the Guard stumbled. "Little pest...!" he uttered, regaining his footing. He suddenly found himself missing the natural ability of his normal form to avoid flinching. It wouldn't be long before he was able to act again, but Haru had bought his team a few precious seconds.

Vito watched as the Mega Lucario split his aura sphere in two. That was an issue Vito hadn't even considered. Vito could only hope that Ansgar had prepared for this. But then something else happened that Vito hadn't considered: The Lucario flinched!
The Vitos knew he had to take his opportunity. The one who had screeched previously let out another Screech and retreated back into the woods to hide himself. The Hone Claws Vito charged forward, closing the gap as quickly as possible. He jumped into the air and yelled "It's Punishment time!" as he threw his claw in a fierce backhand. Directly at the Lucario's face. He then also backed off, trying to make his way back to the woods as well.
Ansgar, meanwhile, unleashed a massive stream of water from his beak, aimed directly at the Lucario. He unleashed the Hydro Pump attack as forcefully as he could, hoping throw off the Lucario even farther, gaining Vito some extra time to recuperate.

Haru allowed a smirk to cross his face as he managed to deliver his strong Stone Fist attack as powerfully as he could against his foe and he watched even the Mega Lucario flinch under his strength. And thankfully, the double Aura Sphere attack that the Lucario had been planning to hurl at the two Vito clones dissipated with the flinch as well. And to top it all off, he heard his target call him a "little pest." That meant only one thing to Haru right now. That he was not a target that he could simply ignore and that he was not completely irrelevant to the struggle. He had something to offer, and he planned to capitalize.
His smirk widened slightly when he saw Vito rushing forward, preparing for some kind of attack that he hoped would be powerful enough to cause some serious good damage. And Haru was only going to add to that pain. He didn't know what this Punishment attack was, but he assumed that it was a Dark-type one. So what better way to compliment the attack than to provide another, super-effective blow from the opposite side. He smirked and put his palms beside his waist, gathering all of the aura energy he would need for his upcoming attack. As he began focusing, the Aura Sphere appeared between his paws. But just like how the Dimensional Guard had done, he planned on using this in a different way than usual. Since he was already standing close to him, he decided to turn this attack into a physical blow using his own strength.
He shifted the sphere into his dominant, right arm, and then swung his palm forward as though he were planning to smash him with Force Palm. Instead, however, he was trying to smash his Aura Sphere into the Mega Lucario's body directly rather than letting it fly. And he was attempting to time it in such a way that he would strike the Lucario just after Vito's Punishment attack had landed.
Once his attack had gone through, whether it succeeded or not, he would notice Ansgar off to the side. His smirk widened even more when he realized what the Empoleon was about to do. And he immediately jumped backward, giving the Empoleon more than enough room to get his Hydro Pump off without being in its path.

The Guard recovered just in time to see a claw heading straight for his face. It was all he could do to angle his head slightly to mitigate the damage from the Punishment. Although it was a Dark type move, its strength was compounded massively due to all of the stat boosts that the Lucario had received in such a short time. And man did he feel it.
He planted one foot behind himself to stop the cycle from perpetuating. There were at least two more attacks coming his way, and he had to act fast in order to turn the tide again. He closed his eyes for a brief moment to assess the situation. Both Vitos had retreated out of sight, likely to regroup and prepare more clones. Perhaps his original plan to stop his tomfoolery early on had been too ambitious, with Ansgar and now Haru getting in the way. Taking them out first would ultimately prove to be less of a pain, allowing him to focus on Vito.
He took note of Ansgar's position. It appeared that he was building strength for a move from a distance, which could only be a powerful blast such as Hydro Pump. Just then, a surge of aura sparked his senses. Haru was coming in from behind with an aura-based Fighting move, which he could not allow to hit. Using reflexes granted by his masterfully-timed Detect, he twisted around and grabbed Haru's encroaching arm just past the elbow, wrenching it behind the other Lucario and locking him in place. He made sure to move the arm in such a way that the Aura Sphere would either dissolve or fire off harmlessly into the sky, unaimed thanks to his unorthodox strategy. With his other arm, the Guard squeezed Haru around the waist to further cement him right where he wanted him.
Turns out, that position happened to be directly in between him and the attacking Ansgar.
"Hope you're thirsty," he quipped as he braced himself for the imminent torrent.

Haru's smirk faltered almost immediately. He should have known that the Guard member would have been able to detect the large amount of aura energy building between his palms. But his rash attempt to get in an attack along with Vito turned out to cost him greatly. The Mega Lucario had reacted faster than Haru had even thought possible. His Aura Sphere missed its mark completely as the Mega Lucario spun around and gripped his forearm in one swift movement. Immediately afterward, the Lucario dragged himself around to his rear and yanked his arm behind his back. As his arm was spun around, the Aura Sphere was launched and spiraled uselessly into the air until it disappeared. He then let out a loud growl of pain as his arm was pulled hard behind him. He immediately and instinctively sank to one of his knees at the Guard member's feet.
But even that did not last very long. The Dimensional Guard's free arm had wrapped itself around his waist, pulling firmly on his body to lock him in place. He was lifted back up as a result of this, though he was only barely on his feet. He struggled as hard as he could, but it was all to no avail. Every movement he did was either inhibited by the Lucario's arm or it pulled at and threatened to dislocate his shoulder joint since the Lucario still had his forearm pulled tightly behind his back. Unfortunately, he could not get anywhere. As such, when he realized what was about to happen, he had no choice but to brace himself.
A moment later, a powerful torrent of water came gushing straight for his body. "GURNGH!" he growled in pain as the Hydro Pump attack scored a direct hit on his torso. He was slammed backward by the blast, slamming him up against the Mega Lucario's own torso. If that Lucario managed to hold his ground until the attack was finished, Haru would find himself sagging slightly in the Guard member's grip, somewhat weakened from his own ally's attack.

The Dimensional Guard managed to shield himself from the majority of the Hydro Pump attack with Haru's body, but some of it still managed to get through. Furthermore, simply staying in place while the water crashed into both of them was physically taxing enough as it was. When the water died down, leaving Haru limp in his grasp, he took that as an indication that he had a good chance to finish his plan. Letting go of Haru's arm, he reached for yet another pill, this one of a yellow coloration. A Sitrus pill. Like the others, he swallowed it. For a brief moment, his grip weakened as the side-effects from continued pill usage stacked on him, but he just as quickly felt his strength return in spades. The wound on his head from the Punishment attack was barely visible now.
He held Haru at a short distance and pulled his fist back for another Power-Up Punch. He expected little resistance as he brought it down on Haru's jaw, letting go at that moment to slam him into the ground. "One down," he counted as he began to walk away from Haru, stretching and spinning his shoulders to accommodate the still greater power boost. If his calculations were correct, he could not possibly increase his strength any further. It was time to bring about the beginning of the end. Honing in on Ansgar, he broke into a sprint. No speed-boosting moves this time, as he figured the bulky Empoleon was not the most mobile of foes, and he needed to conserve his energy for Vito. Speaking of whom, the Lucario made sure to pay attention to the aura signatures around him in case the Weavile was planning any more sneaky attacks.

Haru felt his arm get released and it immediately sagged downward. He was exhausted, having been weakened by that Hydro Pump. But he wasn't too worn out since that had been the first direct hit he'd taken, but he still could not underestimate Ansgar's power. That Empoleon had been in that tournament for a reason, after all. And that Hydro Pump had really taken a bit out of him. Not to mention that he was slightly waterlogged. And unfortunately, that was all that this Dimensional Guard member needed. The Lucario held him outward, and pulled his fist back, intention quite obvious. His eyes widened slightly when it crossed his mind that he was about to be taken out for good. And that would put him at serious risk of being captured, even if the Guard member was forced to retreat or something.
He shut his eyes, quickly trying to brace himself for the impact. There was nothing he could do. Even if he tried to block it, his guard would be absolutely crushed by this Mega Lucario's remarkable strength. He felt the Lucario's on his body disappear completely, then felt the punch smash into his jaw. He let out a loud cry of pain and found his back smashing powerfully into the ground. His head lolled to the side and his body went completely limp. He barely heard the sound of the Mega Lucario counting him out. And there Haru lay, as the Lucario walked away from him and toward his allies to finish the fight.
It wasn't until a few moments later when he began stirring again. "Erngh...." he groaned, rolling over onto his stomach and looking up through blurry vision. He had been lucky. That last second of bracing himself ended up saving him. After all, that was all that Enduring was good for. He had taken the last few moments to rest, trying to recover what little strength he could before he would make his next move. But for now...all he could do was watch what happened from afar. And hope that the Lucario did not notice him watching and come to finish the job.
But even he knew that he needed to wait this time. Rushing in was only going to get him knocked out, since Endure was not going to save him a second time. He would need to wait for an opportune moment...and then lash out with everything he had at once.

Ansgar's sharp eye allowed him to notice the Endure move used right before Haru had been slammed onto the ground. Very clever. But if Haru knew what was good for him, he was going to stay on the ground for a while. That left Ansgar all alone and at a type disadvantage. But Ansgar had to stall. He knew Vito would want a little more time to prepare, and Ansgar had no choice but to give it to him.
So he went back to basics. Ansgar tensed himself up and began to Bide his time. It wasn't an elegant solution, and it was definitely a gamble. It was certainly possible the Lucario could take him out in two hits. Heck, it was likely, even. Hopefully likely enough that the Lucario would take the gamble on his own end. Ansgar didn't need to win the bet. He just needed to convince the Lucario to take the bet in the first place.

Vito, meanwhile, had already created several clones, and was doing his best to space them out around the outide of the clearing. He had to go into the fight with them. Against this Aura user, trying to hide himself was a sure fire way to get himself knocked out, leaving his clones to finish the battle. He was hoping to squeeze out a few more, but he was starting to feel the effects of having so many clones out and about for so long.
It was exhausting. Even sleeping didn't seem to leave him feeling fully refreshed. And even in this battle splitting himself into as many parts as he was was weakening his attacks. But as far as Vito knew, if he did this right, he didn't need strength. He was going to be able to make the Lucario feel just as exhausted as he himself was.

Time slowed down as the Guard assessed the situation. This Empoleon seemed to be perfectly willing to take a hit - and a quick examination of his stance confirmed that he had resorted to using Bide. Meaning he was a sitting duck, as long as the Lucario could take him out in two hits. Alternatively, he could change targets and render Ansgar's strategy useless, but even without his aura senses, he could tell that Vito could have only already multiplied considerably since he disappeared. That, and he doubted Ansgar would give him another opportunity like this if he didn't take it.
It wasn't like he expected the Steel-type to survive even one powerful super-effective hit from a Mega Lucario at maximum potential.
His plan was decided. Not only would he take the bait, he would run away with it. He closed the remaining distance by accelerating. The air rushing past him began to heat up just enough to the point where it created a visible cone in front of him. Before long, the Lucario's aura began to supplement the heat, turning it white and converting him into a veritable land-based meteor. This was no ordinary tackle - this was Charge Slam, a somewhat high-level Advanced Move capable of inflicting great damage at the cost of some recoil. The Guard was more than prepared to take that exchange, as long as it meant knocking out the Empoleon before his Bide could finish. Even if it didn't, he was confident that it would only take one more hit from there. A hit that he was guaranteed as long as Vito stayed out of it.

The white flash hit Ansgar square in the gut and he flew back. He landed face up and skid across the ground until he was stopped by a tree. The Empoleon was motionless.
Five Vito clones emerged from the treeline. There were still at least as many still hidden in the trees, but these came into the clearing and one of them threw an horrific shadow at the Lucario, to hit him with Spite. The other four began closing in on the Lucario, getting much closer than they should given their lack of resilience.
Meanwhile, Ansgar began a coughing fit and made his way back to his feet. He held out one of his flippers revealing a long Focus Sash that had already began to unravel so quickly the thread had blown away before Ansgar was able to say anything.
"Just a bit of advice," Ansgar started, tensing his body back up, "You might want to make absolutely sure the next thing you do is knock me out. It'd be a terrible misstep not to."

The Guard took a brief moment to survey the aftermath of his handiwork. To his chagrin, the Empoleon had indeed survived the force of his attack, thanks to an unforeseen item. But before he could administer the light breeze required to knock out the penguin who was too clever for his own good, he suddenly felt a great sinister shadow loom over him. He felt his energy rapidly desert him as he watched the Weavile clones cut off all avenues of escape. The heavily-multiplied Spite attack forced him to one knee, and he failed to stifle the light, frustrated growl that resounded as a result. The situation was grim. No matter who he targeted, the resulting retaliation from those he didn't could very well spell the end for him, and he knew it.
"I made an oath to the Creator that I would return justice and order to this world..." he uttered. As he spoke, he reached for the dispenser on his thin belt, now clearly visible in his hunched position, and retrieved two bright red pills. "To let a band of miserable ruffians like yourselves get the better of me... such a novice mistake is unthinkable." He swallowed the Leppa pills, and a visible aura suddenly radiated out from his shivering body as he stood tall once again. "I am Doyen, captain of the Dimensional Guard. Remember that name, for you will take it to your graves!"
Every muscle Doyen possessed tensed up as the aura surrounding him flared fiercely. This huge, sudden power boost came with a heavy price, but according to his calculations, it was all he needed to finish the job. The aura poured into a small orb in front of the Mega Lucario, which caused it to quickly grow in size. With all of his might, he slammed it into the ground. The result was a blindingly bright white explosion of aural energy that erupted outward, covering a massive radius around him.
The ground itself gave way to this outburst of energy. Entire trees were blown apart. By Doyen's count, any living thing caught in the detonation would certainly faint instantly, if not outright perish. And, also by his count, none of his opponents were outside of the blast radius. Well, except for maybe Haru, but he knew that that walking insult to Lucario-kind was no longer a threat.

The energy ripped through the clearing. The 5 clones all poofed instantly. Ansgar had also been knocked out. The entire section of the forest had been torn to pieces.
After things settled, a five more Vito clones came to replace the 5 that had just poofed. They sat at the edge of the new treeline. At the edge of the blast radius.
The first one to arrive threw a feather and jammed it directly in the zipper leading to Doyens inventory. He stuck his Embargo through the hole in the tab, jamming it in between the teeth of the zipper, making it impossible to open. "Oh my, you've made a HUGE mess. I'm gonna have to take away your toys until you get things cleaned up, young man."
Two other Vitos threw their Spite at Doyen. A move like that had to expend a lot of energy. Between the Pressure Vito put on his opponents and Spite, there was no way Doyen wouldn't be spent. And now he had no pills to recover, either.
The other two clones moved in slightly. They had no intention of rushing in recklessly, but they were carefully eyeing Doyen to see how much fight he had left in him.
