I found this game: The Resistance
And I thought it would be fun if we tried it here on DN2.
If you don't want to read the entire Wikipedia article, I'll simplify it for you. Besides, we're playing a Vanilla version of the game to start with, and that article has some unnecessary information.
The game is played with 5-10 players, each acting as a member of a resistance group going on missions, while a small group (1/3rd of the total players, rounded up) of people inside the resistance group are spies attempting to sabotage the missions. (Because this game requires some secrecy, I will not be playing, but acting as GM)
The spies are all aware of who the other spies are. However, there is NO talking about the game outside of this thread.
The game is played in 5 rounds. Each round consists of deciding on a team, and going on the mission.
Deciding on a team.
At the start of each round, a player will act as leader and propose a team to go on the mission. (The number of players to go on the mission vary each round. I'll let you know how many are needed before each round, but for more information, see the Wikipedia article.) The leader may select any player to go on the mission, including themselves.
After the team has been proposed, a public discussion and vote is immediately taken on whether or not the resistance team agrees with the leaders decision. If the majority disagrees, then the next player on the list becomes leader and proposes their own mission.
If 5 missions do not pass a vote in a single round, the spies automatically win the game.
If a majority agrees, the team that was agreed upon then "goes" on the mission.
Going on the mission
After a team has been agreed upon, each member on the team will be given two options: Mission Success, or Mission Failure. Non-Spy players MUST pick mission success, however, spies can pick either option. (This will been done in private through PMs or over Skype. Even if all the players are non-spy, some time will be taken before the results to ensure fairness for the spy team.)
After all the players have chosen, I will reveal all of the players choices without revealing who made what choice. If all of the players choose Mission Success, the Resistance earns a point, however, if even ONE* player chooses Mission Failure, the mission is sabotaged, and the spies earn a point.
The first team to earn 3 points wins the game.
*There are certain situations that require 2 mission failures to be chosen. I will let you know in advance if this happens. For more details, see the Wikipedia article.
I would like to emphasize there is NO talking about the game outside of this thread after the game has started. (Besides, it's just a friendly game between friends.)
If you're interested in playing, let me know over skype or in this thread.
