Willy, a short boy with bright pink hair, walks outside of the house and stares up at the sky, looking at the stars. It's funny, because he doesn't remember being inside of the house. It isn't even his house. He doesn't know whose house it is. In fact, he doesn't recognize any of the houses in this neighborhood. Willy decides it should be best to take a look around. He figures if he heads west he can find the highway, but he's not sure why he would think that. He doesn't recognize any of the houses. In fact, he realizes all of the houses look the same in this part of town. What town is it, anyway? Willy suddenly can't remember. Suddenly the street becomes much brighter. It couldn't be morning already, could it?
Willy turns around to find a large flaming beast of some kind standing in front of him. He couldn't make out what it was, but it appeared to be some kind of four-legged animal. Willy grabbed an arrow from his quiver and drew his bow. It was funny, because he never remembered carrying a bow around, and he was sure he hadn't grabbed one recently. Let alone ever fired an arrow. But at least he had something to defend himself with.
He released the arrow, and to his surprise it flew through the air and hit exactly the point he was aiming for on the beasts head. Unfortunately, this didn't appear to do anything at all. In fact, it only seemed to aggravate the flaming beast. He drew another arrow back, but it was pretty obvious to him at this point that unless he found help soon, he was a goner.
((Hey there! This is an experimental roleplay. Perhaps it will work out, and perhaps it will prove to be a disaster, but either way, I believe this has the potential to be a lot of fun.
The entire premise of the roleplay is that it takes place entirely inside a dream. For some reason, all of our characters are sharing the same dream. That being said, there isn't really a set goal in mind at this point. Perhaps their goal will be to wake up? Perhaps there's some kind of evil involved that is threatening them through their dreams? I don't know. We'll see what kinds of people get involved first. Perhaps there won't be a goal.
The whole idea around this roleplay is that anything can happen at any time. That being said, I don't really want something like "character profiles" or something to make something set in stone. I want a character to be able to change their appearance, abilities, or history at any time if you deem it necessary (Though I'm not sure why or how a character might change their history, I feel it should still be able to happen. Why not?) Your character might be able to wield a sword like a boss, but then, only a few seconds later, be some kind of wizard who would be useless with any kind of melee weapon. Or they might just decide they want to punch things in the face instead of trying to cut them. They might decide they want to become some kind of animal, or dragon, or dwarf or something. Because it's a dream I want to keep things as flexible as possible. To accomplish this, there is no submitting of profiles. For all intents and purposes, it can be assumed that you are roleplaying as yourself in a dream and for that we can assume your characters name is your username. Or whatever you decide your name is in your first post. Not that it matters. That can change too if you want, I guess. Your characters may know another character, maybe they don't. Maybe you know a character that doesn't know you. Maybe a character knows you and you don't know them.
For that matter, it doesn't really matter if you roleplay in first person or third person. Maybe even second person. Heck, it might add something to the roleplay if you mess around with that. I guess I've heard of people having dreams where they're looking down on themselves doing stuff, so that's cool too. Maybe you can change it up once in a while. Maybe not. I don't know why it would matter. I guess it doesn't really.
Back to the topic of being able to change things at a moments notice, that goes for the environment too. The setting can change, NPCs and obstacles can appear out of nowhere, and general chaos can start at a moments notice. Perhaps stuffed animals will start exploding for no reason. I haven't decided yet. However, I might not have to make that decision. For a while, I'll plan on taking control of the setting, obstacles, and so on, but that doesn't mean I want to take full control indefinitely. Feel free to spawn an NPC or even change the setting if the time is appropriate for something like that. By the same token, be aware that other people may have ideas as well, or might not want to change the setting for a while.
Wow. For a roleplay where the idea was to not have very many rules and restraints, that sure took a long time to explain. I should summarize this. Basically, the roleplay takes place in a dream, meaning that there are very few limitations as far as what characters can do, and what participants have control over. The only real limitation is that I ask you to be mindful of other participants taking part in the roleplay. Don't do things that will suck the fun out of this for everyone else. If it happens, then I'll kick you out of the roleplay temporarily in a way that doesn't really have much effect on the direction of the roleplay. Essentially you'll "wake up". I won't explain how this works because I doubt anyone will step over that line. I only have this provision because of the experimental nature of the roleplay. You probably will not overstep this line in the way that I am thinking of. Don't worry about it. Even if you do, you'll get a warning. Probably a couple warnings. Don't let it freak you out.
(Even that summary was long. Oh well. Enjoy yourself. Just jump on in and start roleplayin'. Even if you just poof in and don't really do anything. Or do a lot of stuff... whatever you want. I feel like I'm going to be saying that a lot.)
Please attempt not to tl;dr this. Thanks!))
