So, to recap my story so far...I hate my life.
My name is Darwin, and so far in this new world I have fought through a slew of Pokemon, battled a giant robotic Articuno, adopted a daughter through no understanding of my own, lost several friends through terrible circumstances and been denied my goal of just finding a home and being left alone countless times.
And now, on top of that, I've been blacklisted into some sort of treasure hunt with this Floatzel, Franz, to go and find a bunch of special Odd Diamonds that apparently are supposed to be the centre of all power in this universe.
And I want none of it. All I've wanted is to go and find my foster daughter, Liana, if for no other reason to prove that I still have some kind of soul, and return her to her parents so I have no responsibilities to deal with. The only option I have to go with is to try and escape from this as soon as I can, but for now I have to go with it...
I looked around. "Kenika Coast..." I muttered to myself. This is where I'd been found by that Wooper, Penny...I hope that she'd escaped, albeit I don't think she would have wanted to see me - and even if she did, her father certainly wouldn't want her to. I felt a little bit bad for her, but somehow I thought she'd probably have gotten home safely.
"You think there's an Odd Diamond here? Alright, smart guy, where is it?" I asked, still a bitter tone in my voice. There wasn't going to be anything on the beach - I highly doubted at least - it was hard to imagine the Odd Diamond being picked up by some Pokemon who saw it and thought it was a shiny rock.
I looked around. It didn't look like anyone else was immediately nearby, but I really didn't feel like being noticed in this situation, so I was hoping nobody would pass by. I had a bad feeling that knowing my luckt hat would change...

"That's the thing," responded Franz, Darwin's companion whether he liked it or not. "If I knew where all of the diamonds were, I'd go and get them myself. But this does look like a logical place for one, since we know that they have to be spread out among the continents. Just keep on the lookout for anything that seems out of place."
The place appeared fairly normal for a location in another dimension. There was an expanse of sand between where plant life started and the shoreline, where the tide was rolling in at its own pace. A handful of Pokemon could be seen lounging on the beach, minding their own business. If one squinted among the morning fog over the water, they might make out a Lapras in the distance. But other than that, nothing out of the ordinary here.
Franz walked up to a young Whismur who was debating getting in the water for a swim or not. "Hey, kid," called Franz, "Do you know of any suspicious-looking places around here that might arouse... suspicion?"
"Oh, um..." She looked around the beach, as if trying to find one right then and there. She did this several times, while Franz waited as patiently as he could for an answer. "I... think there's um... something out that way," she concluded, pointing in the direction that Franz and Darwin had already been going.
Franz sighed. "Come on, it's the only lead we've got," he lamented, walking away from the confused Whismur and waving half-heartedly either at the Whismur or as a motion for Darwin to follow.

{Wait, why was my first post in first-person? PERSPECTIVE FAIL } Darwin shrugged. The Whismur seemed to be pointing them in a direction, and while he knew it wasn't the Whismur's fault he knew that with every passing step he was getting further from his original goal. ...the only strange thing is, something was starting to feel...strange. Not necessarily wrong, just...strange. Was Darwin's bad mood turning into a sense of paranoia? Or perhaps...there was an Odd Diamond nearby after all. While Darwin couldn't remember properly how it had felt to hold an Odd Diamond in his hand, it had felt...powerful. Did this feel similar? He didn't kno And if there was an Odd Diamond nearby...there was a trap. Darwin was enough of a pessimist to be a realist - it was almost certain. He doubted the Whismur was in on it, but... "Hey Franz, don't you think this is...too easy? If there was an Odd Diamond anywhere nearby you'd think they'd hide it on the cliffs somewhere...why would there be any kind of commotion on the beach?" Of course, for all he knew it could be a lover's quarrel and... ...no. Whatever actions fate forced him into, whether he liked them or not, had something to do with these diamonds...and the only way to figure out what it was this time was to go straight into it.

((First post, first person. It makes sense when you think about it a little but not too much. :L))
Franz sighed again. "If this were any kind of easy," he stated, "we'd know what to look for. I didn't even find the Diamond that I have in the place it was supposed to be, I knocked out a Dimensional Guard who had it for some reason. There's no telling where he got it or what he was doing with it. So unless we find another guard somewhere, we're stuck combing the beach until we see something interest...ing..."
Franz trailed off, as he looked up in front of him and saw a very large cliff. On top of that cliff was a very large structure that looked like a lighthouse, barber stripes and all, but ancient and run-down. Possibly even a century old. If it wasn't abandoned, then they were doing a terrible job keeping some of the bricks in place. The light wasn't even on. A few bird Pokemon were flying around it, perching on the top, but they were far too high up to converse with. "Huh," remarked Franz, "I wonder how many ships have crashed since this thing went down."

"A lighthouse, surrounded by emptiness and eternity...testament to the loneliness of the sea." Darwin rhymed idly inside his head. There was an old lighthouse on the coast? How did he miss that on his first time here?
"Oh yeah, I was unconscious, wasn't I?" That would explain it.
As for the lighthouse, it looked to be hundreds of years old. Darwin kept wondering, just how old was this dimension? He knew some humans had been here for 'years' and it didn't seem like they got much older - in fact, Darwin was even sure he'd once had a birthday in this world, but time itself seemed to be infinite in this world...or at least, however long time passed in here it would barely pass out in the 'real' world...
Darwin shook his head. "No. Leave thoughts of that world away - this is the real world now, for me." Darwin slowly slipped a hand into his inventory and grasped the key that was supposed to open up a home for him...
Wait, Franz was speaking, saying something. "Ships? Strange, I don't recall this dimension having much in the way of ships...at least, not the way it was before." Darwin mentioned, but that wasn't really the point. Or was it...why would there be a lighthouse if there were so few ships?
If they'd been looking for something interesting, it would seem that they'd found it. And with every step along the beach they were getting closer...Darwin looked, but he couldn't see the bird Pokemon clearly - he hoped there weren't any Murkrow or something spooky. "Lead on, fearless leader." Darwin shrugged and continued following Franz.

"Well, not every Pokemon can swim, you know," replied Franz, to Darwin's curiosity about ships. "Or fly. Or teleport." He stopped walking as he came up to the cliff. It was a good fifty feet straight up from there, and the cliff extended horizontally for quite a ways to the point where going uphill and around would take an absurd amount of time. He inspected the cliffs more closely. The ledges were uneven, potentially climbable, but somewhat far apart. It would unquestionably take significant effort, even for an experienced climber, which Franz was not, nor did he expect Darwin to be.
He looked back at the Drowzee. "You wouldn't happen to know Fly, would you?" Franz asked sarcastically. "Maybe Rock Climb... High Jump Kick? Explosion?" He had picked up a semblance of a strange sense of humor from his former trainer in his home dimension... "Yeah, there's no way we're climbing that. I guess we have no choice..." He turned around and started following the cliff laterally, skimming the rock with his right hand along the way as if showing the cliff his contempt.
