Ding.
The bell went off again without warning, but Deb had come prepared. She leapt into the air, opened her beak, and peppered the entire area inside the fence with Ember. Soon, all of the hay bales inside the arena were aflame, which would hopefully give her an advantage in this arena. At the very least, the Nidoking would have to mind his step, which was exactly what she was counting on. Whether her attack hit the Nidoking directly didn't matter much at all.
---------
Meanwhile, Shauntelle was observing this match from afar. In the cheap seats, so to speak. She had figured Jaer would actually plan to listen to her advice today, and she wanted to be sure he actually listened next time. She needed him to know to stop brushing her off. To her, this was much more important than any tournament match.
As far as Shauntelle could see, she had predicted Debs actions fairly well. It was too bad she couldn't have warned Jaer beforehand. Those burning hay bales could really screw up his fighting style if he wasn't careful. He would have to choose his moves carefully.

The moment the bell had gone off, Deborah was off the ground. "Tch...everybody so quick on the draw," Jaer grumbled to himself, preparing for anything the Blaziken may prepare to do next. However, what he hadn't expected was for her to blast her Ember attack all around the entire battlefield. At first, he thought to laugh at her attempts and gloat about her bad aim. But then he realized her true apparent objective...as soon as the flames set fire to the many haybales laying around the mud. Well...this was just perfect.
However, she was not the only Pokemon in this tournament who could toss around some stage hazards. He smirked and brought his palms together in front of his chest. Between them, a purple orb began to form. A moment later, it was ready, and he wasted no time in chucking it into the air.
As the orb rose higher into the air, it eventually came to a stop. When it did, it exploded, and many smaller purple objects came raining down onto the battlefield, settling all around, along with the flaming haybales.
"The only difference with MY move," he said with a bit of a smug grin. "Is that MINE won't eventually burn out on its own."
~~~~~
Behind him, Jet heard the sound of the bell go off. It sounded like then next match was about to start. He sighed and climbed back to his feet. Doug and Bob were probably wondering where he'd gone...he should probably get back. He turned his gaze back toward where Tali had left the area, longing to go after her. But...he knew that it would probably be a pointless endeavor at this point. And so, he turned back, and began to make his way back to the stands between Doug and Bob.
"S-sorry to leave like that.... I just...uh...needed to go for a second...." he apologized before taking his place once more and looking out at the arena....
Bob had quickly forgotten about Jet deserting him, shortly after the match started and both combatants had upped the stakes significantly. "Now THIS is going to be intense," Bob promised himself, unable to predict who might win this battle.
Bob jumped when he heard Jet's voice. "Oh! There you are!" he greeted. "It's no problem, we all have to answer nature's calls. You didn't miss much, even though the battlefield is literally on fire - the match is just starting!" Bob bounced in his seat, he could hardly contain his excitement.
Deb landed before the spikes made their descent on the field. She watched as the spikes fell all over. She would have to make a point of avoiding them. Not a huge obstacle, but she still needed to take note of that. Besides, it's not like the hay bales would burn out in a minute or two. She had ample time to keep Jaer under the same constraints.
In the meantime, she had to keep Jaer on his toes. She took the nearest hay bale, popped it up into the air with her foot, then gave it a solid kick sending it flying in the Nidokings direction. After she had done this, she carefully made her way a bit closer to Jaer, keeping a few burning hay bales between her and her opponent.
-------
Doug, meanwhile, hadn't noticed Jet left. He hadn't noticed when he came back either. He hadn't even noticed that the battlefield was aflame. He hadn't noticed much of anything since he had fallen asleep sometime during the last match. He sat, his head leaned back, his eyes closed, his mouth slightly open.
In his head, his dream had been invaded by what sounded like a rock ballad. I never meant to cause you any sorrow. It sounded familiar somehow, but he couldn't figure out what it was. I never meant to cause you any pain. It didn't sound anything like music from home. I only wanted to one time see you laughing. And it certainly didn't sound like anything he had heard since coming to this dimension. I only wanted to see you laughing in the purple rain.
Purple rain, purple rain. Purple rain, purple rain. Purple rain, purple rain.
Whatever it was, it seemed awfully repetitive. Doug wasn't sure he liked it all that much. He kinda wished he could find a way to turn it off, or at least hear a different song.
Jaer would normally be willing to go forward and meet his opponent head-on, despite the flaming haybales laying strewn about the battlefield. However, he had a feeling that his usual 'break everything's face' strategy was going to fail him here just as it had the last match against Haru. This time, he decided that it may be best if he allowed his opponent to get close. In the meantime, there was plenty he could do from all the way back here.
Jaer allowed a smirk to cross his face as the Blaziken kicked a blazing haybale up into the air only to kick it in his direction. He lifted his right arm and crossed it over his chest. He then slashed through the air with the back of his hand, smacking the flaming haybale and sending it flying toward the sides of the arena, unwittingly sending it toward the fencing presumably keeping the audience protected. He felt the flames tickle his arm for a moment, but it was something he could easily ignore thanks to his thicker skin.
After knocking the bale away, Jaer slammed his left fist into his right palm. As he did, his body began to glow with a golden aura. "Heheh...alright, now stop with the jokes. It's time to show you some real power!" With that, he lifted his fist into the air and slammed it down hard onto the ground. As he did, a crevice appeared, resulting in some of the muck covering the ground to slip in. The crevice glowed with a golden energy as his Earth Power attack snaked its way across the ground, ready to explode in power as it approached his opponent.
~~~~~
Jet was confused for a moment at Bob's words. "Nature's...call...?" he repeated. Only then did it dawn on him. He had forgotten that they weren't aware of where he had gone. "A-ah yeah, that...." he muttered, rubbing the back of his head with a small smile and a slight blush. He looked back out over arena and saw the truth of the Zigzagoon's words. Sure enough...the battlefield was literally on fire. "...You...uh...SURE I didn't miss anything...?" he muttered.
Jet glanced over at Doug and Cassius, who was sitting on the opposite side of Doug as he was. It seemed that Doug had nodded off again. He let out a small sigh. How was Doug supposed to win his future battles if he couldn't pay attention to the matches at hand? Then again, he supposed he couldn't really blame him. After all, he still felt that he was completely responsible for keeping the Abra up all night. Another surge of guilt overtook him, and he lifted a paw to wake him. Exhausted or not, Doug really should be trying to pay attention to the matches....
However, before he could even so much as touch Doug's shoulder, a sharp pain struck the back of his paw. He winced and let out a small, "Ow...!" After a moment of observation, the source of the pain was quite obvious. Cassius was withdrawing his tail, which had just finished smacking him, leaving a small red mark. As Jet withdrew his paw, he looked up at Cassius' face. The Raichu was glaring down at him, causing him to shrink slightly. The Raichu simply shook his head before turning his attention back to the battlefield.
Jet then "decided" that this would be a good time to just sit down and shut up...and just watch the tournament.

Deb watched the ground crack as the golden light started to pour through it. She made a dash to her left, paying careful attention to the spikes. She knew full well this was a good move on the Nidokings part seeing as Ground type moves were one of her weaknesses. However it was also not such a good move. Because unfortunately, it was also one of the Nidoking's weaknesses.
Deb summoned what appeared to be a reflective disc of energy using Mirror Move, allowing it to absorb some of the energy pouring from the crack as she passed in front of it. She then took the disc and slammed it into the ground, sending another crack of Earth Power right back at the Nidoking.

Jaer smirked a bit as he watched the golden crevice snake its way toward Deb...however, that was quickly wiped away. He most certainly had not been expecting his attack to be absorbed and redirected like that. And unfortunately for him, he wasn't fast enough to get out of the way, and the attack came at him too quickly to counter. The Earth Power reached him, resulting in an explosion of energy.
Jaer got caught up in the resulting explosion and was launched backward a bit, causing him to let out a loud cry of pain. However, he was quick to right himself once more, spinning around and landing solidly on his feet, making sure to avoid any of the nearby flaming haybales. Getting hit with his own attack was probably the third most embarrassing moment he'd experienced in this tournament so far.
"Tch...so you can get a bit clever, huh?" he growled over at Deborah. Perhaps he needed to rethink his strategy. Getting blasted by a super effective move left him pretty badly off. Thankully Mirror Move didn't use his own power against him as well as the move...otherwise, he'd be down on his knees for sure, if even for a short while. Well, if she was able to turn his super effective moves against him, then perhaps he should try something he knew would be pointless for her to reflect.
However, perhaps he should address a certain issue first. He took notice that she seemed to have little difficulty maneuvering around his Toxic Spikes. So then...perhaps he should try to fix this.
He brought his palms together once more, just as he had initially done for his opening move. Another purple orb of energy appeared in his palms, and he also hurled this one at the sky. When it exploded in the same way, more Toxic Spikes rained down onto the battlefield. This did not only increase the number of spikes that were out in play, but it also bolstered the Spikes' effectiveness.
Not only would they surely be more difficult to avoid, but they'd be more damaging if she got caught by even one. Or at least, so the Nidoking hoped.

Deborah watched as the Nidoking toppled backwards. She knew she couldn't count on him making the same mistake twice, so she took this as an opportunity to get even closer without having to rush too much.
As soon as she saw that the Nidoking had opted to use Toxic Spikes again instead of launching another attack, she knew she had a golden opportunity not only to strike, but to close the gap between herself and the Nidoking, hopefully making the spikes less of a problem in the process. She planned her route to avoid the bulk of the spikes if she could, then ran forward, cloaking her feet in flame as she finally threw a Blaze Kick directly at the Nidoking's gut.

It was soon after Jaer had successfully managed to unleash his second volley of Toxic Spikes that he realized the Blaziken was already moving quickly in his direction. However, her speed was vastly superior than he had originally anticipated, and he was unable to react quickly enough to create any kind of couterattack. However, thankfully, his mind worked fast enough to give him an idea. And so, he stamped his foot into the ground and braced himself for the impact.
Jaer felt Deborah's foot collide solidly with his stomach in a spectacular Blaze Kick. He let out a loud growl of pain, but he tried as hard as he could to stand firm, not allowing himself to give even an inch in a demonstration of his power...both physically and willfully. With the attack finished, he wasted no time at all in reaching down and attempting to grab hold of the Blaziken's body before she could jump away. Of course, he knew it was dangerous to grip a Fire Pokemon like this, but he didn't plan on holding her for longer than a brief moment.
His body began to glow with a blue aura and he quickly tried to spin Deborah around and throw her with all of his might, attempting to slam the Blaziken as hard as he could with a different use of perhaps his most powerful move, his Superpower attack. This would not only be an effective move because he knew that directly slamming her into the ground like this would hit her with ALL of his power at once, and thus cause some serious damage, but also that if she tried to Mirror Move it again, it might not be nearly as effective due to his own Poison typing.

The Blaziken felt the attack collide with Jaer's gut, not really all that shocked to find that he wasn't pushed back by the attack in the slightest. She was surprised to find Jaer making a grab at her while she was so close. While she was in his grip, she knew there wasn't much for her to do but brace herself.
She was thrown to the ground face first, hard. She didn't plan to stay there very long though. As she sprung up, she twisted to face Jaer. As she did, she felt a sting in her arm. She looked down, and sure enough, one of the barbs was sticking directly out of her arm. She instinctively reached up and pulled it out, but it was too late. The Poison had already made its way into her body. And with that extra layer of spikes, she knew she didn't have long to try to wrap this up.
She began engulfing herself in blue flames that grew in intensity very quickly, and without a seconds hesitation, she rushed at the Nidoking using Flare Blitz in a dive-bomb attempt to finish the match off quickly, hoping he hadn't had enough time to recover from her last blow.

Jaer felt a powerful surge of satisfaction rush through his body as he felt the crushing blow he had dealt to Deborah. Of course, it was the first solid hit he'd landed in the entire match, so he doubted it was really all that decisive just yet...however, he did manage to slam her down onto at least one of his Toxic Spikes, which was sure to drain her strength even faster...especially since he had thrown down the second layer. If he could just stay up for a short while longer, he could pull this match out into his first major victory in this tournament.
Unfortunately for Jaer, Deborah was able to react too quickly for him to completely recover from the Blaze Kick attack. However, he was able to brace himself and he opened his arms wide as the Flare Blitz came rushing at him. When he felt the attack collide powerfully with his chest, he closed his arms and tried to catch the Blaziken and stop her in her tracks. His point of pride was his strength, so if anybody could pull this off, it would be him.
As he grabbed hold of the Blaziken's blazing form, he felt himself get forced backward. He tore up bits of the ground as he continued to get forced backward, trying to use the power of the earth to assist in his attempts to stop her. Unfortunately for him, however, his legs soon left the solid confines of the rock and started to instead slide upon the muck on the surface, diminishing much of his much-needed friction. Before he knew it, he felt his back connect powerfully with the fencing on the opposite side of the arena, and he felt the fencing and materials that had been set up to reinforce it easily snap and get pushed aside under the power.
In his surprise, Jaer accidently slackened his grip on the Blaziken and felt the attack collide with him completely, and he let out another pained roar. When the smoke started to clear, Jaer was on his back, in a pile of rubble where some of the stands used to be, groaning in pain.
Thankfully, the members of the crowd that HAD been sitting at these once-benches had enough sense to let out a loud shout or scream and parted ways, making plenty of room for the crash landing.
The arena was still for a moment after that explosion...and it wasn't until a few seconds after the dust settled completely...that Jaer started moving again. He slowly rolled over onto his stomach and pushed at the ground with all of his strength, eventually forcing himself back up to his feet, but clearly far worse for wear. He slowly turned around to face the Blaziken, ready to hit her with one powerful move that was sure to wrap this battle up nicely....
Unfortunately, his weight had become too much for his remaining strength to lift, and he sank to his knees before collapsing completely on his stomach once more. This time, however, he was actually unconcious.

Bob watched the clash between the elements, the spectacular dance of fire and earth before him, in awe. With a little poison mixed in. When Deb was slammed with that Superpower move, Bob knew that the Blaziken would fall quickly if she didn't do something incredible... and to his astonishment, that was exactly what she did. The Flare Blitz had hit the huge Nidoking with enough force to send him across the entire arena. Bob could not avert his eyes from the glory... until he realized that it was heading straight for him!
Bob leaped into the air, bouncing off the heads of other panicking spectators until he rolled back onto the ground, just out of the way of Jaer crashing through. He had only realized what was coming just a bit too late to make sure all of his friends got out of the way safely, especially the sleeping Doug... he could only hope they got out all right.
"Yeeeeee-HAW!" cried the excited Sentret announcer. "Now THAT, ladies and gents, is a rodeo! That was almost as rough as the Tauros Run of '93! Less casualties too, I hope!" There was no response from the flabbergasted Loudred, his jaw dragging across the ground by that point. Quite literally, even. "There ain't no question here, folks! This round belongs to Deborah the Blaziken!!"

You say you want a leader, But you can't seem to make up your mind.
Doug was really getting sick of this song. He started feeling around for a... record, a dial, an off switch, anything. He couldn't really see anything, so it was just blindly feeling around. And it was better than just sitting and listening.
I think you better close it, And let me guide you to the pur-
click
Finally! Doug wasn't sure what he had found, but if it turned the music off, that was all that mattered.
A red light lit up the room almost immediately, accompanied by what sounded like a loudspeaker.
WARNING: INCOMING HAZARD IDENTIFIED
What? Doug wasn't sure what that meant at all. He took a look around the room he was in, now more able to see everything. Though he was confident the room didn't actually exist until the lights came on.
Everything, the walls, the door at the back of the room, all of it, looked very metallic and mechanical. He looked down in front of him. Sure enough, there was a switchboard of sorts. Directly in front of him was what appeared to be a window out into the night sky, almost as though he on a vessel traveling through the stars. Doug was amazed something like this could exist at all.
There was one problem though: The enormous red ball of fire coming directly at the window.
WARNING: COLLISION WITH METEOR IMMINENT! EVASIVE ACTION SUGGESTED!
"Well then do it already! Steer this thing out of this... meteors path!" Doug yelled at the voice hoping it would respond.
EVASION IMPOSSIBLE. ENGINE STATUS: DEACTIVATED.
"Well then ACTIVATE IT!"
ESTIMATED STARTUP TIME: 5 MINUTES. ESTIMATED TIME TO COLLISION: 30 SECONDS.
"Lot of good you are." Doug said, giving up on talking to the computer. Still, it seemed best that he avoid hitting this 'meteor'. But what could he even do about it?
The realization that he was an Abra and evasion was basically all he did hit Doug like a train. He visualized himself moving himself and the entire vessel up through space, out of the course of the meteor and warped, as quickly as he could.
-------
In reality, Dougs teleport translated to about 5 rows back. Still sleeping soundly in his seat.
-------
Deb picked herself up and brushed herself off, not taking much time at all to indulge in her victory. Already woozy from her last attack combined with the effects of the poison, she knew she would be making a trip to the First Aid tent. She waited for the Machop attendants to roll out their stretchers for the Nidoking, prepared to follow them as soon as they were ready to go.
But as the Machop prepared to lift the Nidoking, Deb noticed a familiar Sandshrew that had stuck around while the other pokemon in the area has made a mad dash out of the area of impact. It was Shauntelle, the Sandshrew that Jaer had dragged along to the tournament, supposedly to assist him. She was standing over Jaer, looking down at him. She looked up at Deb. "I think he's probably had enough now, wouldn't you say so?"
Deb was a little confused. Enough of what? Deb simply nodded slowly and followed a safe distance behind the Machop as they hauled the unconscious body of the Nidoking away. It wasn't any of her business anyway. Investigating them was still Vito's job.
Other attendants in charge of the rodeo arena got to work replacing the section of fence that had been destroyed, as well as throwing out the burnt hay bales and replacing them with fresh ones. Apparently, fences being knocked down wasn't uncommon here. Replacement sections of fences were ready and waiting, only requiring the removal of the old section and several nails and screws to secure the new one.

As the battle continued, Jet stared at the edge of his seat. This was just the kind of battle that was supposed to be watched. Such intense demonstrations of speed, power and skill. These were the kinds of fighters that he felt that he could only dream of being one day. He knew it was kind of...inappropriate to think it, given the circumstances of the tournament right now, but...he hoped that he could be a part of these battles in the future. Which was strange...he usually disliked being the center of attention. But something about these intense matches really intrigued him....
He did not, however, have any idea that he was about to get involved a lot sooner than he expected. The next thing he knew, the Nidoking was trying to stop the Blaziken's powerful attack...and was being forced right in his direction. He knew that there was no way that this was going to get stopped by those flimsy gates. He jumped to his feet, about to spring out of the way...when it suddenly struck him that Doug was still fast asleep, possibly unaware of what was going on. He turned his focus on the Abra. He needed to get him out of harm's way, and fast! And so, he leapt toward Doug, attempting to tackle him out of harm's way....
Unfortunately, all he met was invisible air.
As he leapt forward, Doug had successfully managed to Teleport to safety in his sleep on his own accord. Of course, this left Jet with no target to tackle...and, surprised by the sudden change of circumstances, fell short and landed amongst the stands again. As he fell into the stands again, he hit his head on one of the seats, causing him to give a small yelp of pain. He pushed himself back to all fours, rubbing his head and trying to clear his vision--blurred by the small tears of pain that had formed in his eyes--and it was then that he realized he was still right in the path of Deborah's Flare Blitz attack.
Jet fearfully flinched, bracing himself for the surely painful impact...when suddenly, he felt something wrap around his wrist. Whatever had grabbed him quickly yanked, pulling him out of harm's way (although he ended up hitting his head again in the sudden rush) just before a large explosion erupted from the spot where he had just been. He felt whatever had grabbed hold of his arm release him, and he looked up...only to realize that he was at Cassius' feet, who was currently withdrawing his tail.
Cassius...had saved him...?
Meanwhile, Haru was standing safely just to the side of where Jaer and Deborah had slammed right through the arena's barrier, not far away from where Bob had taken to standing. He still had to admit; his Detect move was perhaps one of the most useful things in his entire arsenal. He barely had to make any effort to perfectly evade the Blaziken's impact. He glanced over at the others to see that they, too, had all been able to somehow evade the blast. He looked down as the smoke cleared and watched Jaer climb to his feet. For a moment, Haru was surprised to see him standing again. But then he collapsed, the result Haru had anticipated.
"Heheh...hey, not bad, Deb," he called down to her before she could turn to walk away. "It's a shame we won't be getting a rematch anytime soon. I'd love to fight against that kind of skill again." He smirked a bit and crossed his arms. Deborah, so far, was the only one in this tournament that he didn't already know that he looked forward to fighting with...purely for the intensity of the fight that he knew would ensue.
~~~~~
"Aaaahhhh, I found you!!" came a sudden cry from behind Deborah after she had taken a few steps outside of the arena. Suddenly, a Buizel came running up from behind her and leapt at her, in an attempted playful tackle despite her being about three times his size. This Buizel bore two spots on its back, signifying that he was male and he wore a small blue and gold pendant around his neck, underneath his floatation sack.
"Oh my gosh, I didn't think I'd ever find you again, I mean ever since we got separated, I've been looking all over for you! You don't have any idea how lost I was when you disappeared! I went everywhere looking, and you'd never believe the things I went through, but I finally got here and saw your name and KNEW it was you! But man, you've gotten so big and tall and evolved since the last time I saw you like how and when did that happen? Ah well, it doesn't matter, I'm just so happy to see you again and see that you're alright!"
That entire mini-speech had been said very quickly, all at once and, impressively enough, in a single breath. The Buizel tried to squeeze Deborah as tightly as he could, in a hug. He didn't even wait to see if Deborah even recognized him or not...and frankly, he didn't care. He was just so happy to see her safe and sound again.
Deb was caught off guard by the sudden tackle of the Buizel from behind. Given her size, though, the maneuver did little to actually move her at all. At first she wasn't sure what to make of the Buizel. She was still kinda woozy, and the Buizel was talking REALLY fast. But he seemed to know her. Deb slowly managed to piece it together.
"TAI. Holy crap, when did you get here? How did you get here? It has to have been months!"
Come to think of it, Deb wasn't really sure how long it had been at all. She remembered something about the world going blank, and then... well, it was weird. Almost as though it were being switched off, dismantled, moved, reassembled, and turned back on again. And that was just from her perspective. Who knows what may have happened to other people, or even Tai. And everything from before then seemed distant, and kinda fuzzy.
But of course she could remember Tai now! It was odd to think she hadn't been trying to search for him as of late.
"Seriously though, how did you find me? What brought you here, to the festival?"
Tyler had a wide grin on his face as he heard Deborah call out his name. That was a good sign. "Oh good, so you do remember me~" he said, releasing Deb at last and allowing himself to drop to the ground on his feet. "Phew, that's good. For a moment there, I'd thought you'd forgotten me, given your blank expression, but that's just silly, of course you didn't because of everything we did!"
It had definitely been far longer than Tyler would have liked. "I KNOW, RIGHT?" he affirmed. It definitely had to have been at LEAST several months since they last found each other. He looked Deborah up and down, at her new evolved form and grinned again. "Looks like the months have been good to you too! I mean look at you...a Blaziken now! You look AWESOME! You definitely look a LOT bigger than you were on T.V.
"Huh...? O-oh, how I ended up here?" he repeated, only just realizing that Deb had actually asked him a question. "Well, uh...let's see...." He tapped his paw to his jaw for a few moments to mentally collect his thoughts. "Weeelll.... Ever since we got separated, I've been looking high and low and all over for you! I went all across Tunican looking...ugh, even that Otrava Bog place (By the way, I never want to go back there ever) but eventually I heard about a Wish Festival, where a tournament was going to be held where some of the best, most awesome fighters ever were going to gather together and compete...and I remembered how almost nobody was as tough or as awesome as you, so I just came straight here!
"...Well, kinda. See, when I was on my way, I got into a bit of trouble, but I'm all good now thanks to everything you taught me! I got here just yesterday afternoon actually. I saw you get to fight with and wipe the floor with that Roselia! But...I had no idea where you were at, I mean this place is HUGE! So I eventually gave up and waited until today to find you. And HERE I am!~"
Tyler had pretty much went off nonstop since he started speaking, only stopping occasionally for short breaths of air. He was certainly one to be easily excited. "What about you, what have YOU been up to since I've been gone, HUH?~ I mean...you evolved, so you must have gone through a LOT, right?~"
And there he went again. He seemed to have completely forgotten (or simply ignored the fact, or perhaps even didn't notice) the fact that Deborah had sustained quite a bit of damage in that last fight...and was currently even poisoned. Whatever the case, he still looked up at her expectantly, wanting an answer to his question.
Deb was starting to feel a bit faint due to the poison. But she tried not to think about it. After all, she had so much to catch up on!
"Me? Well... I guess I can't say I've been looking all over for you. Thinking back now, it's pretty strange. I have no idea why I didn't put more effort into it. Somehow I ended up putting more effort into... well... old habits, you know the story. In the process I guess I managed to get a bit of a reputation as a fighter as well. Right about the time I evolved, actually."
Deb stopped for a bit, her head swimming. Everything was getting a little fuzzy, and she was having a bit of trouble holding herself up.
"But I'm sure we can go into a bit more detail on all that later. For now we should probably... probably..." the Blaziken stumbled a bit, indicating the direction the Machop had gone before falling over, passed out from the poison.
With the fence replaced, the arena refreshed, and the stands more or less put back together, the crowd was beginning to settle back down in preparation of the imminent next match. The Sentret's ever-excited voice rang out over the site once more. "Well alrighty folks, that last match was pretty destructive, but I have a feelin' we ain't seen the worst of it yet! Up next, we have the mysterious Angsar vs. the multitasking maniac Vito! Hold on to your hats, fellas - it's gonna get wild!"
Bob found a new seat to sit in, a little ways further from the arena itself. To his relief, he had already caught sight of all of his friends, including Doug, so the only thing on his mind at that point was the match ahead. "This might just be the best match yet," he said to no-one in particular. "I can't wait to see what kind of tricks that Empoleon will pull against Vito..."
Tyler continued to smile widely up at Deborah as the two of them continued to catch up. He wanted to say that it was alright that she hadn't put much effort into finding him. After all, she probably had SOME kind of life before him. He also wanted to say that he didn't mind her putting more effort into these 'old habits' of hers. In all honesty, he thought that they made her a lot more fun and exciting! He also had questions swimming in his head about the tournament itself, and her current position in it.
But before another word could come out of his mouth, he realized that Deb seemed to be shaking slightly. And when she finally completely collapsed, he jumped and exclaimed, "D-Deb...!" before quickly racing to her side. "D-Deb, are you okay...?" he asked, roughly shaking her in an attempt to wake her. When there was no response, he winced a bit. The fact that Deb had just come from a fight with a Nidoking returned to his mind, and he'd kept her busy. "D-don't worry, I'll get you there...!" With that, he got down on the ground and managed to squirm underneath her. He positioned himself so that her arm was over his shoulder, and he grabbed her hand...and he began to haul. Unfortunately, due to the size difference, he could only drag her. But regardless, he knew his mission...to get Deb to the medical tent as soon as he could.
"Dang it...." he muttered to himself. "Of all times to NOT have Revives or something...!"
Cassius allowed himself to settle in right beside Doug once again, grinning a bit. He had found Doug's Teleport to safety rather amusing on its own, but the fact that the very action had put the Buizel in jeopardy was a rather big bonus. Although, as much as he was annoyed by the little runt, he had to admit that even he knew that just sitting back and watching him get wrecked by that Blaziken and Nidoking was just wrong. He glanced over in Jet's direction, who had taken to sitting behind the group now, and looked at him. He definitely seemed a bit nervous after that.
'Heh...' he thought. 'Maybe I can hold this over his head for a while....'
Meanwhile, Jet was still slightly shaking from the experience. He certainly appered to be...rather jumpy now. "Y-yeah, me too...." he studdered in response to Bob. "J-just as long as he doesn't almost kill me, like Jaer and Deborah did...."
Ansgar had been preparing for this. Ever since he had left Vito's clones his little...ice bomb gifts, he had been off of his back for the most part. So, Vito knew a precious little amount of information about him more than what the audience knew. He had several moves in his repertoire that could come in handy against Vito's seemingly endless cloning technique. But that wasn't the only thing he had to be wary of. Vito's strong Pressure and Spite combination proved to be draining enough to, quite impressively, defeat that Zangoose. He would need to be careful of that as well.
Other than that, he felt prepared for whatever Vito might throw his way. At the sound of his name, he stepped forward into the muddy arena floor. He contemplated how to open this match. An idea came to mind...but it was quickly washed away by the fact that Vito was an Ice-type Pokemon.
'It's a shame,' he thought. 'It would have been quite amusing to watch him and all of his clones go slipping around on frozen ground.'
One of the Machop from earlier had come back, taking notice of Deb's collapse. Luckily, he still had the extra stretcher with him. "Hey! You drop her this instant!" He rushed over to the Buizel, dropping the stretcher while he gave Deb a once-over. I guess the poison finally knocked her out. We probably should have stayed closer. Another Machop was soon to follow, ready to get Deb on the stretcher and into the first aid tent.
Vito took his place on his side of the ring, staring down the Empoleon on the other side. He was trying his best to keep his cool about this and not let himself get psyched out, but nothing was working. This was the last person he had hoped to meet in the tournament. Even though he had helped Vito out a bit yesterday with that stunt he pulled using Jarek's Sleep Talk, Vito knew better than to think that meant Ansgar had any intention of helping him out at all. If he was, he wouldn't go through so much effort hiding himself.
That was the real kicker though. However he was managing to stave off Vito's clones, it didn't appear to take much effort on the Empoleon's part. Ansgar showed no signs of fatigue or lack of focus. He was definitely the kind of guy Vito would KILL for information on, but no matter what he tried, Ansgar appeared to be one step ahead of him.
Still, Vito had to put his best foot forward in this fight. He couldn't afford to tick Damon off any more by failing to do his best here. While he needed Damon ruffled, he didn't need him outraged. That was counterproductive to Vito's means for now.
