"GOOD AFTERNOON LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! DAY 4 OF THE WISH FESTIVAL IS ABOUT TO BEGIN, SO TAKE YOUR SEATS," the Loudred yelled, doing his best to pump up the audience before the matches started again. Though this time, he did it from an announcing booth. He wasn't about to spend the rest of the day wallowing through... well... filth. And he shouldn't have to! It wasn't his fault he had to keep finding new arenas, but he sure had to take responsibility for it. He just felt lucky that this time the group in charge of the Wish Festivals rodeo had stepped forward. At the very least it was a proper arena. If only barely.
There were plenty of seats surrounding the battlefield, at least. The battlefield being a large fenced in area. The ground was covered with what the Loudred had hoped was just mud, though the smell suggested otherwise. (He was assured that underneath it was concrete, but he wasn't about to step in it to find out for sure.) Hay bales and a couple of barrels were scattered around the arena, and the fence had be reinforced. Of course, for some reason the attendees of this arena had decided that piling hay bales next to it and securing them with bits of scrap wood was enough to 'reinforce' it. But an arena was an arena, the Loudred supposed.
The Loudred was snapped out of his train of thought by a Sentret in a Stetson hat. "Hand me that mic. I think you could use a hand with this announcin' business. Ya got presence, but ya lack style." She proceeded to holler into the mic. "Hoooeee. Are ya ready for a good ol' fashioned beat down? If yer standin' in this arena you better be! The five matches we've got today are gonna be hotter than a tin roof in July. And they're startin' soon, so grab a seat and hold on for dear life."
The Loudred wasn't amused.
Doug also wasn't amused. He had just barely managed to drag himself out of bed this morning, despite promising to himself he would be at the arena in plenty of time for his matches from here on in. He glared at the three pokemon he had shared his trailer with last night. "So let me get this straight. What exactly went on last night that you three thought was worth making such a ruckus for?"

"I-I'm sorry, Doug...." Jet said, apologizing for at least the seventh time since midnight last night. He was even back to studdering again. "B-but I just...couldn't get Cass and Bob to try to get back to sleep...."
"Hmph. Hey, don't blame me," Cassius replied, crossing his arms and looking down at the Buizel. "I was hungry, alright? And any regular person like you or Bob over there should feel privilidged to get to do something for somebody like me. Besides, you're the one who was causing most of the problems. Trying to tell us to get back to bed and all that. If you had just laid back down yourself and shut your trap, then Bob over there could've gotten me what I wanted, I could eat it quietly, and everything would have been settled."
Jet didn't really have a counter to that. After all, Cassius certainly had a bit of a point. Perhaps if he hadn't made such a big deal out of it, it would've been over with much faster. "...S-sorry, I was just trying to get things quieted down as soon as possible. I-I didn't think that I could actually be a cause of the problems...."
Just then, a familiar face decided to show itself. Although Doug may have been able to 'hear' it coming.
"Heh...gee, what's wrong, there, Doug? You don't look so good~" came an all-too familiar voice that caused Jet to freeze in fear the moment he heard it. A Lucario stepped up to the group, arms crossed, smirking down at the small group. "Seems like you've grown to be quite a popular guy, huh?" He turned his gaze from Doug, and it fell onto Jet. "Although from the looks of it, you've got quite a litter of runts here. Including the runt of the runts himself~"
But then his attention turned to the bright orange and purple Zigzagoon standing nearby as well. Somehow, his distraction by Doug and Jet caused him to overlook the otherwise vibrant Zigzagoon. "Huh...and then there's Bob, the odd one out." He had to stop and think about that last statement for a moment. He felt that it had been just too perfect for describing Bob to just simply ignore. However, that moment didn't last long before he continued on, "What are you doing here with THESE guys? Not that I really care, but shouldn't you be in the company of somebody a little more...impressive?"
He wasn't going to name any names...but, of course, he was selfishly referring to himself.
~~~~~
Damon was preparing himself beside the entrance to the arena. Although, he knew he didn't have much to worry about. He had made sure that her matches were carefully observed. It appeared as though she was no threat compared to the remainder of the competitors. If he could defeat that Abra, then she should be no real problem. In fact, he wasn't entirely certain why he, of all people, had been invited here in the first place. She seemed to be bizarrely weak compared to the others.
Whatever the case, he thought back to earlier in the morning, when he and Jarek had decided what they were going to do for today. He hadn't gone off on Jarek too hard last night, keeping the yelling to a minimum. For now, he had decided that it would be for the best to simply maintain a low profile and just simply allow the cards to fall where they may right now. He could use this day as a way to gather information. He still didn't entirely trust Vito, but his cloning ability was far too useful for times like this. With the disaster that was the day before, he needed to calm down and analyze the situation.
And to do that, he needed information. And so, he had instructed Jarek to simply battle as he usually would. And if he could find Vito before it was time for the Weavile's next match, then he would tell him to simply gather info as per the usual. However, he doubted he even needed to reconfirm that objective.
Vito Steele was far too intelligent for his own good, after all.
Despite the rough and eventful night, Bob was feeling chipper as usual. There was no telling how he could maintain his energy running off of around 4 hours of sleep, but if anyone could manage that, it was Bob. He laughed at Jet and Cass's bickering, making light of the situation. "Don't worry Jet," he comforted, "if I'm allowed to make as many mistakes as I do, there's certainly no harm in you doing something like depriving a battler of a major tournament of one full night of sleep. Heck, I've done worse... probably..."
He trailed off, noticing the arrival of another old friend/acquaintance/rival. "Haru!" he beamed. "Fancy meeting you here! Well, I mean, not that it's unlikely considering you're competing in this tournament, and I just so happen to be a huge fan of battles." Bob laughed at Haru's next statement, treating it as playful banter. "Man, you have no idea how badly I've wanted to meet up with you ever since this thing started, I've been in your corner this whole time! No offense, Doug, you're cool too. Anyway, good luck with your rematch against Marduk! I talked to him last night, he's a pretty serious dude, but I... dang, I forgot to remember to size him up for weaknesses. Sorry, no tips from me today except... don't lose!" Bob wished he had thumbs so he could give Haru two of them straight up, but that wasn't happening, so instead he gave the Lucario a cheesy salute.
Doug watched the exchange between Bob and Haru without a word. He didn't really have anything to prove to Haru; he had already bested the Lucario in combat, and since that didn't earn his respect, Doug wasn't sure what else to do. Bob seemed to have some sort of relationship with him though. That was definitely worth noting. Even after spending a night with the Zigzagoon, Doug didn't really know anything about him. Doug decided he needed to change that. Even though it hadn't been said officially, Bob seemed to think he would be helping with the Vito situation. And if what he had learned so far was true, Doug thought Bob might just get his way.
Doug started to nod off before he heard the next announcement come over the loudspeaker. "Alright then, ladies and gents! Are ya ready for the first matchup?" The crowd cheered a bit before the Sentret continued. "First up, defending her right to stay in the tournament: Tali the Roselia!"
Tali jumped the fence into the arena and landed as gracefully as she could into the muck. This is perf! Now that I have the most losses of all in the tournament, my opponent will underestimate me. I can totes catch that stupid Scyther off guard. Tali thought to herself, waving to the stands, which were... about as quiet as a crowd waiting for an all out fight could probably be.
"And her opponent, the speed demon: Damon the Scyther!"
Haru couldn't help but smirk at Bob's response. "Hmph...as if I would let myself lose to him this time around. I'm not the type who'd just-" But before he could finish his thought, a loud announcement was made over the loudspeaker. It seemed that the first battle of the day was about to begin. He turned his own attention toward the center, where Tali, the Roselia with a strict losing streak, was entering the arena. "Heh...this should be fun to watch. Her matches never last longer than a minute or two."
Jet observed as Haru turned away, toward the arena. This was good. He could perhaps use this as an opportunity to pull away from him. And so, he edged his way around, while everybody else seemed to be focused on the center. He slowly managed to make his way to Doug's opposite side. Having somebody he knew could beat Haru between the two of them made Jet quite a bit more comfortable with being so close....
Cassius did nothing more than spare a glance up at Haru. So far, his tournament standing wasn't quite as impressive as he'd have thought. One crushing defeat and two only narrow victories. Whoever this Lucario was, it was clear to him that he and Doug knew each other somehow. And clearly this Buizel was afraid of him.... He almost couldn't help but wonder if there was any way he could use this to have some fun...? But he didn't spare much time on the thought. He quickly turned his gaze back to the center again. The match was starting...and he didn't want to miss a minute of this Roselia's smackdown.
~~~~~
The Scyther picked up on his cue and hopped the fence himself. He couldn't help but smirk a little bit at the announcer's words. "'The Speed Demon,' huh...?" he muttered to himself. He had to admit, he kind of liked it. It was strangely fitting for him. Of course, the audience had no idea just how demonic he could truly be.
Damon glanced down at the mud he had landed in and his smirk turned into a frown. Why were they forced to fight in such filth? He didn't really mind, but he would have to go through the trouble later of getting himself thoroughly cleaned off before he could get back to putting Vito's information to good use. He then turned his attention to the Roselia ahead of him. A pointless opponent; one he did not care about. As such, he deemed it best to simply finish this as fast as possible. Perhaps live up to the subtitle that the announcer had left him....

As the combatants took their places, a bell sounded, signaling the start of the match. It happened so suddenly that most of the crowd who had been watching the matches up to this point weren't in their seats at the ready.
Getting rather informal, aren't we? Tali thought to herself. That Loudred had better get a handle on this tournament, and quick. If there's one thing I can't stand it's poor presentation. The Roselia didn't hesitate though. She ducked quickly around a couple of haybales that had been set up nearby, and fired off a Worry Seed from one of her roses, directly at the Scyther, hoping to catch him off guard with the strange start of the match.

The moment the bell rang, the Roselia was, surprisingly enough, off to a quick start. Of course, this didn't worry Damon in the slightest. He had seen her, and she certainly didn't even have the potential of coming out on top in this match. When the Worry Seed was fired off in his direction, he jumped into the air and backward. He wasn't going to be caught off-guard so easily. He wasn't so foolish, and he felt slightly insulted if this Roselia thought he was.
As Damon leapt upward into the air, he focused his mind for a moment, and he could feel himself growing more nimble. His Agility move had taken effect. As he came down, he landed atop a nearby haybale, landing softly and maintaining his balance perfectly. However, when he realized that the Roselia ducked behind a haybale. Did she think it could provide her cover? If so, it was a pretty foolish thought.
For a moment, he considered simply launching one of his few long-range moves, to set her off-guard. But she was hardly worth showing people that he wasn't just a close-ranged fighter. And so, he jumped off of the haybale he was standing on and landed back down in the...muck. Immediately, he took off, headed around the arena's border. This maneuver would assist in evasion if necessary. Furthermore, due to his bolstered speed, there would be no escaping him if she attempted.
As Damon approached, he attempted to leap into the air at the last moment--especially if the Roselia attempted any kind of counterattack. And when he reached the peak of his arc, he suddenly came rushing back down with blinding speed, slashing with his razor-sharp wings as he rushed past, using his Aerial Ace attack, which was also boosted in power thanks to his Technician ability, which he had managed to keep by avoiding that initial Worry Seed....

Tali watched as the Scyther evaded her attack. She figured something like this would happen. A guy like that, known as a speed demon, couldn't be easy to pin down. But she had an advantage. He couldn't keep his eye on her while he rounded the arena. The hay bales made sure of that. As he came down for his critical attack, she raised her roses, almost as if she were defending herself, but just as the attack was about to slice her, she let loose a murk of Toxic into the face of the oncoming Scyther. She took a good deal of damage in the process, but that wouldn't be a major issue.

As Damon came rushing down at Tali, the only thing he saw was a massive amount of damage being dealt to his foe. However, something else happened. Something he had failed to take into consideration into his assault. He felt his wings successfully cause the damage he sought. However, something else hit him hard. A bit of much had come from the Roselia, and he had allowed her an easy opening. In shock at the successful Toxic attack, he lost his aerial balance, and he misjudged his landing. He hit the ground, sliding across the mucky ground for a moment before coming to a stop.
Without a doubt, the successful Toxic had left him Poisoned, and he was swearing mentally at himself for allowing it to happen. Damon took a moment to rise to his feet and glare at the Roselia. A good portion of the right side of his body was now covered in the muddy...filth that was layered atop the ground. "Y-you little...!" he growled, readying himself to rush at her again, ready to get her back for this. Plus, he knew that the longer this battle dragged on, the more his strength would be drained by the poisoning.... He needed to end this fast. He simply would NOT allow himself to be defeated by this Roselia, of all Pokemon!
And so, without hesitation, he lunged himself forward once more at Roselia. In his rush, he didn't even think to bolster neither his strength nor his speed. He simply rushed forward and came at her, once again, with another unavoidable Aerial Ace attack....

As soon as Damon hit the ground, Tali produced a single leaf from one of her roses. She began to play a tune using her Grasswhistle technique. Despite the fact that it may have been a smarter move to heal herself, she continued to play, even as the Scyther got up and prepared his next attack. She wasn't entirely sure if she could withstand another attack, but if she wanted to continue, she knew she had to play.

Before Damon could take even so much as a step forward, he was stopped. He saw Tali pull something out...and it took him a moment to realize that what she'd pulled out was one of her rose's leaves. But he no longer cared. In fact, he shouldn't have stopped. He had to win this right here and now. He had to inflict some major damage and end this fast.
But just before he could rush forward and attack...the sound of Tali's Grasswhistle met his senses...and he completely stopped. "Wh...what...?" he started. His eyes would have opened wide with another expression of shock if they hadn't been slowly closing themselves against his will. And in just a moment, he collapsed. First, to his knees, and then he fell completely forward and the side of his face hit the mud again.
Damon was now fast asleep, having fallen prey to Tali's Grasswhistle attack.

Tali let out a sigh of relief as she watched Damon fall to the ground. It had worked. The match was as good as won. But it wasn't done yet. Which was good. Perfect, even.
She walked over to the facedown Damon, using Synthesis as she trudged through the filth. She stood over the motionless bug-type, raised her rose, and fired off a Worry Seed directly into Damon. As soon as she did, she kicked the Scyther still on the ground.
She leaned in and began to whisper. "I know you just woke up, and I know you're poisoned pretty bad, so you're probably groggy as hell, but you're gonna listen and you're gonna listen good. If Vito has been telling you everything he knows, he's probably told you I'm a stalker. Big time. So last night when Vito was sent to that hospital tent, you better BELIEVE I was there. Just outside the big tent. Listening to everything. Everything. Him breathing as he slept, then when he woke up and faked still being asleep, (I can tell the difference) Even after he had woken up and left."
Tali paused for a bit to let that sink in.
"So yeah. I know what you're up to. But don't worry. I'm not going to get in the way of that. But that's for Vito's sake. Not yours. And know this: If I EVER hear you talk to Vito, MY Vito, like that again, I will mess you up. I will make sure you're never successful or happy again. That is a promise.
"So consider this humiliation, and this match a small parting gift from me to you. But I'm not giving you the satisfaction of getting to strike me down. Not after that. Au revoir, Damon."
She then stood up straight, raised her arm, and announced, "I submit the match." Already walking away, leaving Damon in the muck, and the people in the stands very confused.

Damon was helpless as Tali approached him, the crowd's eyes watching with intense surprise. None of them had expected this Roselia to last very long, given her previous performances in the tournament. And now that she seemed to have a strong advantage over her opponent? It was highly unlikely that any more than a select few of the crowd would have thought THIS one possible.
Damon was struck by Tali's Worry Seed, and he felt the effects of his newfound Insomnia ability take effect, and he slowly came to. Unfortunately for him, he was simply too slow, and he felt a pain in his side, when the Roselia kicked him. "Wha...?" he started, his vision blurry as he looked up at the source of his troubles.
When Tali began to speak with him, it took him a moment to actually register what she was saying. And when he did, he realized the situation he was in. However, he remained silent and continued listening to her. When she paused for the moment, he realized that she most likely knew everything. Or at least, what they had all said during that little exchange outside the medical tent.
Then Tali began to speak again, and he...was rather unsure of how to feel about this whole thing. On one hand, she was obviously deathly serious...on the other, this was the first time she had shown any kind of real prowess of her own. ONe thing was for certain, however. And that was that she was right. He had been humiliated by her, and when she surrendered and began to walk away, he continued to just lay there, trying to think through the Toxic poisoning sapping away his strength.
Finally, he began to slowly climb back to his feet. He opened his mouth to call after her, but he soon thought better of it. Perhaps...judging by the venom that had been in her voice, it would be best to simply let her have this. However, he knew that he would have a lot more to think about later....
One thing was perhaps for certain now. He should consider giving Jarek a bit of an apology for his mistake the day before....

"WHAT!" Bob stood up, seeing the Roselia submit the match. He wasn't entirely sure what he had just witnessed. The battle had started, and like most of the crowd, he didn't expect it to last very long. But he did hope that it would be entertaining, and at the very least that Tali would put up somewhat of a challenge. And for a while, it was, and she did. Bob was on the edge of his seat as he saw Tali inflict him with a deadly toxic/sleep combo, a feat that he recognized as nearly impossible the way he was used to battling as a human. For a moment he thought the Scyther who he had registered as an enemy the night before would actually take a loss. But then, she threw the match.
Naturally, Bob was not happy, even though Damon got shown up something fierce. "You totally had him, why would you just... What is even WITH these matches, I came here to watch some good battling, not glitches or people surrendering or doing..." He realized that he was shouting, and that a lot of people were probably hearing him at that point. Best not alienate the masses by revealing his ulterior motive. "Stuff." He cleared his throat nervously, noticing that he was getting more than a few aggravated stares. "...you know what I mean, Jet?" He turned to his Buizel buddy, hoping to unload some of the heat.

Jet's gaze had also been fixed in the arena. However, unlike the others in the crowd, it certainly wasn't on the battle itself. He had been paying very close attention to somebody. When Tali submitted the match, he heard Bob's exclamation of disbelief and took it upon himself to excuse himself from the situation. Not that he was trying to avoid Bob or Haru or anything. He just really had someplace he would like to be right now....
So naturally, by the time Bob turned around to inquire for his opinion, Jet was already gone. He was already making his way around the edge of the arena, in an attempt to cut her off. Eventually, he found her and he was quick on calling out.
"E-Excuse me, Miss-!" he started, but before he could say anything more...his foot connected with...something on the ground--he had failed to take notice in his rush-- and it threw it out from under him. This caused him to trip over himself and take an embarrassing fall, narrowly avoiding landing flat on his face by extending his jaw a bit so that it was the bottom of his head resting upon the ground. Of course, as he fell, he let out a small cry of surprise and an "Oof...!" of a grunt when he hit the ground.
It was when his vision focused again that he realized that he had accidently tripped and fallen right at the feet of the one he had wanted to intercept: Tali. His cheeks suddenly flushes a dim color of red as he frantically scrambled back to his feet in a desperate attempt to right himself, muttering apologies all the while.
Finally, he had managed to climb back to his two feet and he let out another quick, "I-I'm SO sorry, I-I didn't meant t-to...to...w-well, y-y-you know...!" By this point, however, his face was a bit of a brighter shade of color.
To say he was a bit flustered would have been quite an understatement.

Tali hadn't even noticed the Buizel falling over. In fact, if he hadn't gotten up, she probably wouldn't have seen him at all.
She passed by him without a second glance, "Look, if you want an interview, contact my publicist. I'm so out of here. Ta." She continued toward the nearest exit. I think I saw a booth for mud facials around here. Maybe they do manicures too.

When Tali simply passed him by like nothing had happened, Jet turned around to face her as she started moving farther away. He watched her, a bit of a small smile on his face. Tali had taken a few full strides away before it dawned on him that she was actually walking AWAY.
"A-ah, w-wait, M-Ms. Tali...!" he called after her and lowered himself onto all fours before scurrying toward her. When he caught up with her, he tried to swallow the lump in his throat in order to continue. "N-no, I'm...I'm not a reporter or anything...! I-I just wanted to...uh...to...er...." He wasn't sure what to say now. His mind was just riddled with a million different things he would like to get off of his mind and out of his mouth. "...T-to talk to you...wh-while you were still by yourself...!"
A bit awkward to say perhaps, but he didn't care. He just wanted to get a moment alone with Tali....

...only to find that Jet had mysteriously disappeared at some point. Bob's head drooped. "Oh, NOW he abandons me..." he sighed. Just where did that Buizel go? Thankfully, the spectators that he provoked had returned to their own business already, so he focused on looking around for Jet. Rising onto his hind legs, he tried to get a view of the rest of the arena's surroundings, but there were too many colors and shapes. Bob didn't know where to start. With a pout, he sat back down again, waiting for Jet, and/or the next match to start.
Right on cue, the mic turned on and broadcast the spunky voice of the stand-in (or stand-up) Sentret announcer. "Well there y'all have it, Tali is officially out of the tournament, after giving us a good taste of raw, down-and-dirty action! But that's only the beginnin', folks. This next match is sure to get everyone's hearts a-racin': the Nidoking built like a tank, Jaer... vs the flamin' femme fatale Deborah!"
The crowd voiced their excitement, pushing aside their confusion of the last battle in the hopes that this next one would do better to satisfy, and that match-up seemed to be quite promising.

Tali, upon hearing the announcement, continued on her way to the exit. "Look, I've got stuff I wanna do. No statements for now. And don't even THINK of snapping a photo until my petals are perf." She then rushed out of the arena without so much as another glance in Jet's direction.
--------
Deb jumped the fence into the arena easily. She made a feeble attempt to shake the muck off of her feet before realizing it was no use. She'd just have to clean herself off after the battle.
For now, she had to focus on this battle! After that last match she definitely wasn't going to waste her chance to show up Damon. She hadn't been there last night, but she pieced together that he had been kind of... off-putting after yesterday's matches. Sure he was the one who would be paying her later, but that didn't mean she had to like the guy. If anyone deserved the embarrassment of almost losing to Tali, it was definitely Damon.

As Tali began to walk away from him, he just stopped and watched her, stunned for the moment. It was only after she had finally, completely left the arena when he suddenly thought to extend a paw out and call after her. But he was much too late, and she was gone.
"Augh, wh-what is WRONG with me...?" he grumbled to himself, slapping the palm of his right paw to his face. He allowed his body to fall over backward and onto the ground as he did, and he just stared up at the sky. "Sh-she was right there and everything...a-all I had to do was...argh! Jet, if you're supposed to be so smart, why are you so DUMB!?" He allowed his arms to fall to his sides and he continued to simply stare up at the clouds above. Before him, the clouds appeared to circle around, and eventually, he made one out to look just like her. "...T-Tali...~" he mumbled to himself, cheeks changing back to a dim shade of red.
~~~~~
Jaer grumbled as he stood near the arena, tapping his large foot impatiently. Just where WAS this blasted Sandshrew, anyway? After his defeat at Haru's hands the previous day, he had told himself that he was going to at least hear Shauntelle out completely this time, to see if she had some kind of helpful hints. Not that he needed them at all...but after somehow getting defeated by that Lucario of all people, he certainly desired to minimize the risk of yet another defeat.
But sure enough, the first time Jaer was ever willing to really stay put and hear Shauntelle out...she was nowhere to be seen. Soon enough, it was time for his match against the Blaziken, and he grumbled. He was out of time. Whatever. He'd just have to deal with her...Blackband-style.
But it was then that he was met with his first dilemma. The Nidoking glared down at the fence that was in his way. While the other competitors certainly seemed to have the agility necessary to vault over this thing...he had no such luck. Nidoking certainly weren't exactly the most graceful of Pokemon.
So, growling in annoyance (at both the arena's racist wall as well as Shauntelle's absence), he stepped all the way around to a large gate that was nearby. It may not be as flashy, but he didn't really care. All he'd need to do is thrash this Blaziken around a bit and he'd be back on top.
That was all that mattered.
And so, Jaer's hulking mass stood at the ready, prepared to wreck this unsuspecting Blaziken's world.
