"Heh. Me? Afraid of you? Not in the least." Damon said, raising his arm and thrusting it down quickly, throwing an Air Slash at Marduk while keeping his distance. He couldn't afford to let something like a little taunt get in the way of his strategy, but it was looking like he might want to change gears a little bit.
-------------
Doug got up and started after the Raichu, "A rematch sounds alright I guess, but with all due respect, and believe me I don't want to offend, but I think I have bigger fish to fry at the moment." Doug was still pretty worried about some of his opponents, reassurance or no. He still had no idea what he was going to do against Vito, but he had to face him. Giving up another round was not an option. Even if he lost, he couldn't afford to humiliate himself by giving up.

The Zangoose stood firm, waiting for the Air Slash to come his way. He smirked slightly to himself and braced himself for the incoming attack. He was going to ensure that this battle ran at his pace. If he had learned anything from fighting Vito, it was that allowing some foes a chance to build up a strong defense was often a mistake, even for the smallest, most frail of Pokemon. And that giving them any kind of headway could quickly turn against him. He had to ensure that he was in control the entire match.
At the last moment, the Zangoose jumped forward and to the left. It was just enough to allow the Air Slash attack to narrowly miss him, although he had perhaps cut it a bit close. However, the only damage that was caused was a small tuft of his fur being harmlessly cut loose. As soon as his dodge was complete, he landed on all fours and began rushing forward as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, some of his strongest moves weren't going to help him much here. Moves like his Close Combat, X-Scissor and Revenge wouldn't help him much against this Bug- and Flying-type Pokemon. He was, unfortunately, rather limited in his move choice then.
He decided on a rather simple start. He jumped at the Scyther in a span of a few moments. He quickly brought one of his sets of claws down at Damon, clawing at him with Crush Claw. If nothing else, if this attack connected, he had the potential of dropping the Scyther's Defence. That would be quite a helpful step in finishing this battle quickly, before his Taunt wore off.
~~~~~
The Raichu simply shrugged at Doug's short response. "Yeah, yeah, I know. You've got some pretty stiff competition this time around. Unlike that lousy tournament back in town. Especially that Vito guy. He's really a rough piece of work. That cloning trick of his is really quite something. He almost seems...unbeatable as long as he can use a move like that." the Raichu continued to talk as the two of them made their way toward the opposite side of the park. He was merely trying to strike up conversation, completely unaware that he was probably not helping Doug's situation very much.
The Scyther made use of his sharp boost in speed by dodging backwards and firing another vacuum wave at the Zangoose. It wouldn't be much, but it was pretty obvious that was his only choice at this point. If he could just get a couple more boosts, he could do most anything and throw this match at the end with no-one the wiser. At that point it could just be a matter of when this guy got wise to Damon's strategy.
-------------
Doug nodded "Yeah, I guess that's the tough part. Neutralizing that cloning technique." Doug had thought hard about this for a good long while. It was quite a big roadblock to overcome. "It's especially hard for me becau-" Doug stopped short. He had just about let his secret slip. That didn't happen very often at all. Things just seemed so comfortable talking to the Raichu he hadn't thought about it. Maybe it was the familiarity. Someone he knew, more or less. Either way he had to be careful. "Because I don't have any way of attacking more than one clone at a time!" Doug finished.
Marduk came down at Damon and smashed his claws in a downward strike...and they struck the ground with a powerful slam. If they had been on normal ground, the ground would have been cracked and it would have left a tiny crater where his claw had landed. The Zangoose looked up and saw the Scyther attack him with Vacuum Wave. He decided that it might be for the best if he just went straight through it. It may be a super effective move, but it was also a special one, and he was well aware of how weak most Scythers were with special attacks.
Marduk jumped forward once more and crossed his arms. As he raced forward, he braced himself. The Vacuum Wave hit him dead-center. The force of the attack slowed him down a little bit, but he quickly regained his momentum once more. This Damon was fast, and if he wanted to land a strong blow, he'd have to pick up his own speed. And so, he continued to rush forward, this time at a new, blindingly fast speed. As he ran, he slashed his claws a bit, readying a Swords Dance to make his attack twice as powerful. He barrelled forward in an attempt to slam the Scyther in the stomach with his shoulder in a surprisingly powerful Quick Attack.
~~~~~
The Raichu looked over at Doug curiously and raised an eyebrow. It didn't take his mind-reading abilities to show him that the Raichu didn't buy Doug's amended statement. "What was THAT about?" he asked, curiosity getting the better of him. What had Doug really been about to say? Why would it be any more difficult for Doug to neutralize those clones than anyone else? In fact, being able to Teleport around seemed like it would make for the best way to eliminate multiple clones in a matter of seconds. "Hey man, you're not keeping any kind of secrets from your best rival, are ya?" he added with a small smirk in a joking manner.
(Although Haru wouldn't have found that so funny~)

Damon spotted Marduk coming easily and crossed his arms in front of him to block the incoming attack. He managed it easily enough, neutralizing a good chunk of the damage. "Trying to keep up with me isn't going to get you very far," Damon stated as he turned his arm and Slashed as he backed away, using Agility for another large increase in speed. Damon knew full well being fast wasn't the best way to take down Marduk, but taking down Marduk wasn't in the cards this time. It was a shame, really. Damon really did want to take this fight seriously.
--------------------
"What? Of course not. I'm hiding nothing. At least not anything everyone else isn't already hiding." Doug had to cover his tracks. "Besides, even using Teleport I've still got to hit each clone one at a time. It would take far too much effort. I would be exhausted by the time I took them all out. And Vito would just be ready to make another set of clones by that time," Doug replied, trying to get off the topic of hiding things.

Marduk felt his body land a solid blow on Damon, albeit a rather dull one. He knew he wouldn't have caused much damage at all with a move like that. Especially not if he was blocked like this. But it didn't matter. He just needed to know that he would be capable of catching up as necessary. His eyes suddenly caught the attention of the Scyther's arm coming down at him from the side. He quickly brought up his own claws to block the Slash attack. But before he could counter-attack, Damon was already jumping back. "Tch...at this rate, I won't be able to land a solid blow. But he can easily keep his distance and attack from there..." he muttered to himself under his breath.
But if one thing was for sure, he wouldn't be able to do anything hanging back here. This bout was difficult enough without his opponent having the advantage of special moves. So, the only thing that was left to do now was try to ensure that he could hit as hard as possible whenever he did manage to land a powerful blow. And so, he decided to charge forward once more. This time, he performed another Swords Dance, but rather than attack with a weaker move, he decided to try for a stronger one that would deal some hefty damage, due to his tripled strength from his double Swords Dance. He brought his claw down toward Damon with yet another Crush Claw attack.
~~~~~
The Raichu hadn't expected such a defensive response. That only made him even more suspicious. But for now, he supposed he could roll with how Doug wanted this. He might be able to learn this apparent secret of his soon enough anyway. "...Yeah, I guess that makes sense." he muttered.
But it was just then that he realized something. "Hey wait a minute..." he said, looking down at the Abra again. "...How did you know I was about to say something about that Teleport move of yours?"
Damon had seen Marduks other fights, and knew the Zangoose was a bit quicker on his feet than expected, but he hadn't been ready for it this time. He just managed to bring his arms up to block the Crush Claw attack, but then he was stuck. He may have delayed the powerful attack, but Damon knew full well his arms weren't meant for blocking. He could deflect fairly well, sure, but to keep the powerful Crush Claw from bearing down on him would be impossible. He was already on his knees, still trying to keep the claw from coming down full force. It was only a matter of time and force unless Damon could come up with something. But that seemed unlikely.
-----------
Doug's eyes widened a bit. "Well what else would you have been talking about? We were both thinking it, I'm sure." Not a complete lie, really, but this didn't bode well for the Abra. Like he was going to get the Raichu off of his back about it now? This most certainly was not good.
As Marduk's claw came crashing down on Damon with overbearing strength, he carefully observed the Scyther's movements. The Scyther was able to bring up his blade-like arms in an attempt to block his move, but it appeared as though he could do nothing else. This gave him the opportunity to finally deliver a powerful, solid blow. He considered the Aerial Blast attack that he had used against Vito in his last match. It was a Flying-type move and would definitely deal some good damage. However, he knew Damon was clever and the Scyther might find a way to break out of this situation by the time the move was finished charging.
And so, he settled for a power attack, rather than one based on type. Unfortunately, he couldn't use Crush Claw again while he was still holding him down like this. That move required him to come down on his opponent with force. So instead, he brought his free claw down and around...and attempted to deliver a powerful Slash attack. Besides, if he were lucky with this move, not only would his Slash attack hit, but it would cause the Scyther to let up on his block and force the even more powerful Crush Claw down on top of him. and on top of this, he was aware that Scyther typically had low physical defenses. Surely, if this worked, it would tilt the battle into his favor, despite not having access to his most powerful moves....
~~~
The Raichu raised an eyebrow at Doug's response. He must be keeping something from him. But what could that be? And was it really any of his business in the first place? "Yeah, but there was no way you could have known that. All I had said before your little...amended statement was that I thought Vito seemed kind of unstoppable with that cloning ability of his, and then I asked what that amended statement would be about and if you were hiding something.
The Raichu stopped and thought about this whole conversation for a minute as he continued to walk. Doug had acted defensively when he had simply joked about hiding something. And then he made an even bigger mistake by talking about something the Raichu had been thinking about but had never brought up. And finally, Doug was trying to cover up for his lies by trying to come up with some lame excuse or reasoning. And Doug's expression certainly helped further Raichu's suspicions. But now came the challenging part...what kind of a secret could the Abra be hiding that would reveal what Raichu had been thinking...?
And suddenly, the possibility dawned on him, and his eyes widened with the shock of the revelation. Was something like this wild possibility even possible? And if so...how? And why? And for how long...? All of these questions he'd have to ask Doug later if he was right. But for now, he decided to respect Doug's possible secret and ask him in a very low tone. "You can't...hear other people's thoughts, can you...?" he asked. Perhaps too straight a question, but he didn't care. He felt like this was a likely thing, despite how...unlikely it seemed.

Damon saw Marduk's other claw as it rose to strike. Damon knew, with both his arms locked in blocking Marduks other claw, there wasn't much else he could do but brace himself. The claw slashed across his chest, leaving a clean slice across from one shoulder down toward his hip.
He immediately felt his arms giving out under the power of the Crush Claw. During the time he had been under it, Damon had been trying to determine if it was the weight of the Zangoose that was putting so much pressure on the claw, but he was certain of it now. It was most definitely his strength. And that strength didn't seem likely to let up anytime soon. Damon thought quickly. He tucked his legs up and attempted to kick Marduk off of him all in one motion. Damons legs had been the only anchor keeping his arms from giving out, so if this didn't work, he was most definitely getting a face-full of Crush Claw.
------------------
"Don't be silly, that's impossible!" Doug laughed, not sure if he was trying to convince himself or the Raichu that there was nothing wrong with this situation. Even if he did trust the Raichu enough to tell him, there was no way he was going to tell him in the middle of such a public area. Especially with all the spying that was going on, between Vito and... well... more Vitos as far as Doug could tell.
Suddenly it occurred to Doug; he seemed to trust this individual enough to consider telling him his best-kept secret, and he didn't even know the Raichu's name! It wasn't unusual for Doug to get feelings of any kind toward an individual before saying much to them, but this kind of trust without even a name was unprecedented. At least so far. Doug hoped this wouldn't become a habit. Or that his sense wasn't off. Either way, a lack of name was a problem. Doug would have to fix that. "That's quite a silly conclusion to jump to... uh... Sir..." Doug trailed off, hoping he didn't blurt out the name after hearing it mentally before the Raichu could reply. That would be disastrous at this point.

As Marduk's claws slashed across his foe's body, he felt his claw begin to slam down on top of Damon's body, just as he had planned. He knew the Scyther could not hold back his attack any longer, and this situation was completely in his favor. However, if he had been expecting Damon to counter-attack, he hadn't expecting a kick up at his chest. Thankfully, however, he was able to shift his weight slightly so that he could successfully hold his ground, despite the unexpected blow.
Now that the Scyther's support from the ground was gone, Marduk knew that Damon no longer stood any kind of chance against his Crush Claw. As such, he mustered all of his power and forced his claw down in one powerful blow due to his double Swords Dance, which roughly tripled the physical power he had at the beginning of this little duel. With any luck, such a powerful, direct strike would be enough bring this to a close. If not, then surely the Scyther couldn't take too much more punishment.
~~~
The Raichu raised an eyebrow in suspicion at Doug's response. This was certainly an...interesting situation. Regardless of what the Abra said at this point, he was convinced. He wasn't sure how something like that could have happened or could even be possible, but...to him, there was enough evidence to show him what he needed. He wasn't dense, after all. At least...he didn't consider himself such. Besides, it was entirely possible that he would have another reason not to talk about it besides simply having trust issues.
Due to the latter possibility, he decided to stop pressing the matter for now. Besides, if he wanted confirmation, he might be able to get Doug to tell him at some other point in time. For now, he realized Doug had brought up another topic. He couldn't believe what he heard. Doug didn't even know his name? That's right! He supposed, thinking back, he had never been properly introduced.
"Right, I almost forgot," he said with a small laugh, looking away from Doug and at a nearby vendor, watching a Squirtle play a Water Gun game. "I was looking down on you so much, I never bothered to tell you my name back then...and I guess even now, that's no reason to expect you to remember the name of a stepping stone." He cleared his throat, face still turned away from Doug as he watched the Squirtle start to lose focus on his move. "My name is Cass. A Raichu who was practically born in the ring." 'Though I guess it's actually Cassius,' he muttered in his head, thinking about his introduction.
Damon took the Cush Claw directly to the side of his head. At that moment he was out cold.
Outside of the arena, the screens went black, with text reading "Round 12 winner: Marduk"
Both chairs were immediately ejected from the arena, Damon still out cold. The Machop, under close supervision of one of the attending scientists, began to haul the Scyther away. It was becoming clear to some that what happened in the arena didn't necessarily stay in the arena, as told by the murmur throughout those who remained inside the facility.
-------
Doug was only half listening due to the fact that he had just caught a glimpse of another screen. Match 12 was over. One of the matches remaining had that Machamp in it. Doug was willing to bet, even against that Empoleon, that match wasn't going to last long. Doug had to get to that facility fast.
"Right Cassius. I think we should get going, least I miss my appointment with the ring. Do me a favor and think REALLY hard about the closest place to that facility you can think of. Like some kind of Peter Pan thing." Doug honestly had no idea what Peter Pan was, but it seemed relevant, "Think about every detail of that place as hard as you can. As if you were there. Can you do that? I don't care where it is, as long as it's close to that facility." Doug hadn't tried this in a while, and he hoped to God, the Creator, whoever, that it worked.
Marduk slammed his powerful claw down into the side of Damon's head, crushing him as hard as he could with his Crush Claw. He held it there for a moment, testing to see if Damon was still conscious or not. When he didn't feel any struggling, he cautiously lifted his arm off of the Scyther's body. Was the battle over then?
The moment that thought crossed his mind, everything went dark. It was as though this entire white void had simply...shut itself off. However, it was only for the briefest of moments, until Marduk became aware that he was now sitting. The next moment, the lights came back on. The machine he had been sitting in before had ejected his seat, and he was back in the same room in which he'd started the match. Although, he supposed, he had never really left. He looked to the side and saw an unconscious Damon being removed from his side of the machine and start to get hauled away.
Deciding that it might be best to get himself checked out to be safe, he stood out of his seat and began to follow the the machop carrying the Scyther away. Plus, this way, if somebody came by to see or plot with him, he would be there as well to 'overhear' everything.
Meanwhile, Jet watched the screen, frowning. This wasn't good. There was another match gone, and Doug was still nowhere to be seen. Where could he have possibly gone? He only had two more matches before his own. And each of these battles didn't seem to be lasting for very long. Was the Abra lost or something? He supposed it could be possible for him to get a bit out of hand with his Teleport or simple wandering. Maybe he should go out and look for him...? He sighed and jumped to his feet, ready to leave to see if he could help Doug find his way.
However, before he could go anywhere, he noticed a certain Pokemon rise to his feet. It was a Lucario and he began to make his way toward the machine. Jet hadn't realized it yet, but there were only six Pokemon who had yet to battle...and Haru was one of them. It appeared as though the Lucario was in the next battle. He wasn't sure who Haru's opponent would be, but it wouldn't matter much to him if Doug ended up getting disqualified for missing his match. Besides; he wasn't sure he wanted to be around if Haru ended up losing his battle. And so, he began to walk out of the building, looking around for wherever Doug may be....
~~~
Cass looked at Doug as he said his full name. Heh...well that was easier than he had expected. He followed Doug's gaze up to one of the many monitors strewn about the park and smirked a little. He must be too preoccupied with his steadily upcoming match to notice his mistake. Well, at least that made it simpler for him to become assured that he was absolutely right about Doug's abilities.
But he could think or talk more about that later. Doug had begun to talk to him and he looked down at the Abra. He listened to Doug's request and nodded. He wasn't sure where he was going with this, but if he had learned about one thing about the tournament so long ago, it was that Doug's plans tended to work out well. He thought about it for a moment...did he know anywhere that was closer to the tournament arena than this place? The answer was obvious; of course he did. He had been there just a while ago.
Ignoring the bit about some kind of 'Peter Pan,' Cass chuckled a little bit. "Hey Doug, are the booths right next to the tent where they're holding the battles close enough for you?" he asked in a sarcastic tone. Without waiting for Doug's answer, he began to obey Doug's request and began to think about the location he had in mind. He remembered stopping by and helping out the owner of a bumper car booth by giving his generator an extra jolt of electricity. Luckily, it was shorter than a minute's walk from the tournament tent.

Shauntelle anxiously scribbled something down on a piece of paper before handing it to Jaer. Without even looking at it, the Nidoking crumpled it up and threw it back as he stood up. Shauntelle was starting to wonder why she even bothered. Jaer was wondering the same thing. He knew full well what this Lucario was capable of, and just how to handle it. He made his way over to the machine and sat down on the chair. This match might actually be fun. Tali sure wasn't. Jaer thought to himself as the chair slid into the machine and he found himself in the White Void.
----------------------
Without another word, Doug grabbed Cassius and Teleported.
Upon arrival, Doug realized he had made a small mistake. The duo were now IN the bumper cars as opposed to NEXT TO them. Nearby, a particularly devious looking Azurill looked ready to slam down the pedal of his car, which was pointed directly at Cassius!
Thinking quickly, Doug grabbed the Raichu and teleported again, this time just outside the bumper cars, near the operator, yelling at "those fence jumping idiots," while behind them there was a head on collision between an Azurill and a Wynaut.
"I guess that means it worked?" Doug asked the Raichu, ignoring the operator "Where to now?"

Jet glanced back and saw a large Nidoking get to his feet. He didn't recognize him except for his name--since it was plastered across every tournament bracket in the festival--but given the look in Haru's eyes as the Lucario looked at him, Jet could assume that Haru knew him. As he stepped outside, he couldn't help but wonder if that happened to put either Jaer or Haru in any kind of disadvantage. However, he decided not to worry about that at this moment. He might have to really focus on finding Doug and leading him here. Now...just how was he going to find a single Abra in this huge festival? That was a problem that he didn't think his level of detective skills would be able to solve....
~~~
Haru glanced at the Nidoking as he rose to his feet behind him. Jaer...one of the four Gym Leaders of the Poison-type Gym back in the DN2 League. He had never fought Jaer before, but the Nidoking had been there when he had challenged the Poison Gym in the past. He had battled with Jaer's fellow gang member, Kuran, who was a Drapion. Unfortunately, the fight had not gone well, and the Drapion had crushed him with relative ease. He had been kicked right out of the Gym that day. Whenever he looked back on that day, he hated it. It was perhaps one of the most humiliating defeats he'd ever been handed. Although the title still belonged to a certain gray Lucario...with a certain Abra being an extremely close second.
Whatever the case, Haru did not plan to lose here. He was certain that Jaer looked down on him because of his poor performance in that Gym Battle. But there was no way he was going to let himself lose again. He was going to demonstrate to this powerhouse just how much progress he'd made. His defeat had come while he was still a Riolu.... Now that he was a fully-evolved Lucario, he would surely be able to win this. Once he showed he could beat Jaer, he planned to eventually return to the League to once more to fight and prove his true worth.
"I am NOT going to lose again, Jaer," he declared, stealing one more glance at Jaer before he sat down in the appropriate seat and readied himself. Then the two of them were finally brought into the machine. In just a short few moments, he found himself standing in the middle of a familiar empty...nothing. All he could see for miles around was pure white. There didn't even seem to be anything that they were standing on. But he didn't pay his environment much mind. He turned his gaze back to the Nidoking standing before him.
He was as ready for this as he'd ever be.
~~~
It was strange. That instant of Teleportation seemed a lot longer when you were the one being Teleported by another. Cass felt his feet leave the floor for no more than a fraction of a second, and he felt something new under his feet. It took him a moment to realize why this seemed like such a strange location. His attention was soon grabbed by a small vehicle being operated by an Azurill came barrelling right in his direction...wait, what!?
Another split-second later, he felt Doug's hand grab onto his arm and the two of them Teleported away once more. When he felt his feet touch dirt ground once more, he breathed a small sigh of relief. He put a paw over his chest and took a couple of deep breaths.
"Yeah, sure," he grumbled. "Just try to actually warn me when you feel like giving me a heart attack next time, alright?" He took a few moments to catch his breath again before straightening himself out. "Right now...the tent should be-" but before he could say anything, another voice called out to them.
"HEY! DOUG...!" the voice called. The voice got Cass' attention, and he turned around to see a Buizel dashing up to them on all fours. He stood back up on his hind legs and looked at Doug. "I finally found you..." he muttered, breathing his own sigh of relief. "Come on, they're already starting Haru and Jaer's match, and you're up after the next one! What are you doing out here?" The Raichu standing beside Doug seemed to have evaded Jet's attention. However, now that his presence became more obvious....
"...O-oh," Jet muttered, taking a quick couple of steps back. "I didn't realize you had a new friend...." he fumbled with his paws slightly, not seeming to really want to address the Raichu. "S-sorry," he apologized, though rather weakly, before turning his gaze back to Doug again.
Cassius had absolutely no idea who this little guy was, but if first impressions were anything to go by, he seemed like the sort who was easy to make fun of...and kind of fun at that. But since he seemed to know Doug, he held back any biting remarks and instead addressed Doug. "...So...who's your little friend?" he asked Doug.
Perhaps this WASN'T the best way for the two rodents to meet....

As soon as the two entrants were inside, the countdown began.
3...2...1...
Start!
As soon as the match was announced, Jaer threw himself into the air, throwing a Double-Kick down at the Lucario below. Jaer knew he had to take his advantage early, and hold onto it. That wasn't a problem as far as he was concerned.
---------------------
Doug was a little surprised to find Jet here, and it didn't take long for the situation to get very uncomfortable. It was made more uncomfortable due to the whole empathy thing.
"Uh... Cassius, meet Jet. Jet, meet Cassius," Doug began. "Jet has been traveling with me for a while now. You won't find a more reliable guy."
"And Cassius is an old acquaintance. We met in a tournament, much like this one. He's a good guy though. I wouldn't have made it here in time without him, I'm sure."
Doug hoped that was enough to move past the issue for now.
"Anyway, we should probably get going to that tournament building, right?" Doug said, hoping to change the subject.

Haru crouched slightly as the countdown began. He prepared himself to spring forward as soon as possible. He knew he had to attack hard and fast if he would want to come out on top against his far bulkier opponent. However, he had most certainly not expected the Nidoking to beat him to the punch. For such a large, bulky Pokemon, Jaer was able to get a surprising amount of air. When the Nidoking brought his foot forward in an attempt to kick him, he knew he couldn't let himself get caught.
As such, Haru moved as quickly as he could out from under the large Nidoking's reach. He leaped to the side, rolling on the ground and landing neatly on one knee. He quickly ran through a list of moves in his head, and came up with one that he felt would work for him here. He smirked and clenched his paws into fists and pulled them together. He then pulled them apart, a bone staff materializing in his grip. He spun it around and lunged forward, swinging it toward his foe, using a simple Bone Rush attack.
"I told you," he said, his smirk still plain on his face. "I'm better than I was when your little buddy beat me. And I won't be losing here!"
~~~
Jet and Cassius simply nodded at each other, although Cass glanced at Doug again with a slight smirk. The Abra continued to address him by his full name. Was he really completely unaware of the mistake he had been making all this time?
"O-oh, well then, uh...nice to meet you, Mr. Cassius...." Jet muttered, inclining his head in a small, respectful bow.
"Well, no offense Doug...but he doesn't really look like he's capable of much." he said, looking Jet up and down, as though sizing him up. It was certainly a much less polite greeting than Jet's. "No offense to you either, kid, but you seem like the type who would just get in the way or get yourself into a hostage situation."
"Wh-what...?" Jet replied. The moment those words came out of Cassius' mouth, his memory was thrown back to when Vito had him at clawpoint. His mind instantly rushed into all sorts of possibilities. Such as...what if Vito had decided to kidnap him? What if Vito had used him to barter Doug into throwing his matches?
"But anyway, I guess you've got a point, Doug." Cassius said, cutting into Jet's thoughts like a knife through butter. "Besides, I'm kind of interested in this Lucario myself. I was hoping to see how he would deal with such a massive, muscular opponent like that Nidoking." He smirked at the thought. "As a Pokemon with limited long-range moves, he'll have to stick to close-range...and against bulk like that...come on, what are we even still waiting around for? Let's get in there already." He grinned a bit as he imagined the fight between Haru and Jaer, and how it might end.
"O-oh, right..." Jet replied, snapping out of his pity party completely. "It's right over there, actually," he said, gesturing toward the tent where the remaining fighters were still waiting their turn.
As the Nidoking landed, he slammed his fists into the ground with an Earth Power attack, causing the cracks in the ground that spread toward Haru, flares of power shooting out as the flaps of void separated from each other. This, unfortunately, didn't give Jaer much of an opportunity to dodge the incoming Bone Rush, but he hoped he could catch Haru off guard as well.
After taking a couple beatings from the bone club, Jaer knew he couldn't afford to take that risk very often.
"I think you'll find that buddy of mine was nothing compared to me. I'm in a whole new class. That's why I'm in this tournament and he isn't. You're gonna have to step it up if you think you aren't gonna lose here."
---------------
Doug started walking in the direction Jet indicated. "See, you can't be so quick to shrug him off like that, Cass. Sure he might get in the way sometimes. And kidnapping situations? Oh like you wouldn't believe! But it never happens without a good reason. He doesn't do anything I wouldn't do. That's the other thing. You always know where his head is at, and he isn't gonna back out on you either. I don't think there's a single time in our travels he hasn't had my back. Even if he gets in the way sometimes, that kind of consistency is hard to come by. He's got his head on straight, so he's always worth a little bit of trouble." Doug wasn't about to let Cassius end that conversation on a sour note like that, helpful or no.
As they approached the door, Doug turned to the attendant and pointed to Jet and Cassius, "They're with me"
The attendant, a Krabby, immediately scuttled in front of the door to stop him, "We're sorry sir, you're only allowed to have one guest inside the facility."
Doug frowned. He turned back to Jet and Cassius. This really wasn't a good time to leave either of them at the door, but he had to get in there quickly. Leaving Cassius behind would be insensitive given Cassius just helped him out, but he couldn't ditch Jet like that.
At that point a Zangoose appeared behind the Krabby. "It's alright. One of them is with me," Marduk noted to the Krabby.
"Which one?" the Krabby asked, suspicious.
"Does it matter? They're both with us. Just let them in already," Marduk barked.
The Krabby hesitantly scuttled to the side to let the trio pass.
"Thanks, I owe you one," Doug said to Marduk.
"Good, I'll hold you to that." Marduk said as he ducked back into what appeared to be the first-aid tent, moved inside the facility to allow the attendants to observe the machines effects on combatants.
I think I just indebted myself to a stranger. That can't be good, Doug thought to himself as he turned back to Jet, "So where's that machine?"
In retrospect, Haru should have counted on Jaer, an experienced fighter, to have had an additional action to take after missing that Double Kick. And he truly should have expected to have to put up with a second move. However, he hadn't and now he had to think fast. Regardless, that didn't stop him from enjoying the few smacks of Bone Rush that he had managed to deal out against his opponent.
Thankfully, however, Haru had a move he could use in just such an occasion...whenever he was caught by surprise, he could use it to quickly get out of trouble of a dangerous situation. He shut his eyes and tried to concentrate. He then allowed his instincts to take over, and he leapt upward into the air, backflipping away from Jaer and his move as quickly as possible. He landed squarely on his ground on his feet...unfortunately, though, in order to evade his opponent's attack, he had to use up a bit of his energy with a Detect move. He had to take a short moment to get his energy back, so he couldn't make a move against his opponent.
"Tch...if that little stunt is all you've got to throw at me, then I doubt you're any better than he was!" he replied, with a small smirk of his own. He had managed to avoid a direct hit from that strong move...but unfortunately, that was all he had been able to do.
~~~
Jet listened to Doug's words carefully. He wasn't sure how to feel about them. On one hand, he supposed Doug was trying to help him out, but...all he was really doing was admitting that he had an issue with getting in Doug's way. And...he wasn't sure how he felt about that. But still...at least Doug was trying to stand up for him. But...what exactly did that mean? He wasn't sure, but at least he knew that he had been trying.
Cassius simply shrugged at Doug's words. It certainly seemed to him that every word he had said had been true after all. He wasn't quite certain as to why Doug kept Jet around so much, but...well, the two of them had obviously somehow become good friends, and he wasn't about to hurt that any more if he could help it.
When the three of them moved up to the tent and were refused admittance, Jet and Cassius both stopped and looked at each other. If one of them had to stay out and be by themselves, which one would that be? On one hand, Jet had already been here and had simply left to find Doug. On the other, Cass had apparently helped Doug find his way back, and it would be rude of Doug to refuse him. Plus...he could end up just distracting Doug from concentrating on his opponents and the next match. And he certainly didn't want to do that.
However, before Jet could volunteer himself, he watched as Marduk, the very Zangoose that had been defeated by Vito came up and helped them out. He sighed, silently grateful that he wouldn't have to sit out after all...but he couldn't help but wonder why. Why would Marduk come out and just help out a complete strange like this...especially his competition? Something definitely seemed suspicious there....
However, before Jet could say anything, Cass spoke up. "...An interesting one, that Marduk," he muttered. "I wonder what he's planning to do with you?"
Finally, Jet shook his head to clear his thoughts, glancing up at Cass as he spoke. The Raichu seemed so much quicker on the draw than he was. But he sighed and decided to just answer Doug's question. "Oh, right...it's right over there, in the center," he pointed out, gesturing toward the large machine in the center. "Haru and that Nidoking both got in there as I was leaving."

Jaer looked up from the cracks he had formed in the Void, "You're right. You have gotten better since I last saw you fight," Jaer Flattered. If he could just catch the Lucario off guard, he could take his advantage, and the match would practically be his.
---------
"Knowing this tournament, whatever it is I'm not gonna like it." Doug replied. He knew the Zangoose needed his help for something, but he wasn't sure he wanted to get involved in all this tournament drama. Then again, that might have been why he was here.
Doug made his way over to the machine, relieved to see he still had an entire match and a half before he had to fight. There was no telling what Vito had planned, and Doug still wasn't sure what he was going to do when he got into that battle, but for now all he could really do was wait.

Haru smirked as he listened to Jaer's words. "Heh...of course I...did...?" he started, but he quickly trailed off. It certainly wasn't like Jaer to compliment his opponents like that. What did that Nidoking plan to do by saying something like that? Did he intend to throw Haru off-guard or catch him by surprise perhaps? Well, that was never going to work. He wasn't about to let himself get distracted....
But despite his protests, his head suddenly started aching slightly. He let out a small growl of irritation as he stumbled a bit, the room starting to spin. "Wh...what's...going on...?" he growled. But despite his best efforts, he couldn't get the room to stop spinning. "If...if you think this is going to stop me, you've got another thing coming...!" he glared and looked out at the Nidoking...s. Standing before him were not just one but three Nidokings. What...? How could there be three of them...? Was this some kind of trick?
Haru shook his head. "Y-you can have all the reinforcements you want, Jaer, but it's not going to help!" he growled, putting his paws together to form an Aura Sphere. For some reason, he felt more power between his palms than before...the advantage that Jaer's Flatter had granted of boosting his Special Attack. "Eat this!" he roared, launching the Aura Sphere attack...straight at the Nidoking on the right side.
Unfortunately for Haru, that Nidoking didn't exist, and his launched attack was set to miss Jaer by a mile.
~~~
Jet and Cass looked at each other. They didn't say anything, but they could just tell that the other was thinking the exact same thing. Just what exactly was going on behind the scenes of this tournament? Everybody but Haru seemed to have an ulterior motive of some kind for being here. And as far as Jet was aware, it was entirely possible that even he was just here for the chance to beat Doug.
The two moved to follow Doug, but it was Cassius who spoke up next, watching the battle unfold. "...It seems like that Lucario's in a pretty tight spot," he commented with a slight grin. "Hey Doug, who do you think will win this, eh?" He looked over at the Abra. Perhaps a little concentration on the match at hand would be enough to get his mind off of the uncertainty of the future in this tournament for a while.
