How had he not seen this coming? Tanen had just risen back to his feet when his own attack, reflected by Mirror Coat, came surging toward him. He didn't even try to dodge, instead holding his arms in front of him in a defensive 'X' and trusting his Steel typing to at least soften the blow. It did that, but the attack's damage and impact combined with the sudden quaking ground knocked the Scizor right back over. Straining against his Paralysis, he managed to sit up partway and froze as he saw a Fire Blast star coming toward him. He thought he saw a Thief Hammer in the Reuniclus' hand and prayed it was an illusion from the heat.
There was no time to dodge. Tanen considered using Quick Attack to launch himself out of the way, but when he tried it his Paralysis acted up. So, this was it. He closed his eyes and threw his arms up in front of his face, bracing for the searing agony of the four-times effective move.
But it never came. There was a rush of heat and he felt weakness wash over him as every part of his Bug/Steel body protested to the high temperature, but there was no fire. Then he heard Jet's weak voice and his eyes shot open to see his friend lying on the ground in front of him, badly Burned. "J-Jet!" he cried, crawling over to the Buizel. He chose to ignore the usual painfully low self esteem of his friend in favor of being stunned. "You- you saved me! That... Was so bad*ss. Thanks."
Tanen looked back up toward Fred, and realized to his dismay that the Thief Hammer was indeed very painfully real. "Oh. Oh no. Oh sh*t. Oh sh*t oh f**k oh sh*t," he muttered, trying and failing to get up again. Even with Jet's assist, Tanen was now weakened considerably, and he realized with horror that he was currently a perfect target for the Thief Hammer. With Jet now injured as well, Tanen wasn't sure if there was any way he could escape it. At the very least, having two forms meant that it wouldn't kill him, but he also didn't want to lose either one of them. But, there was nothing he could do except use Iron Defense and pray that whatever Dr. Porygon was doing happened soon and was also a miracle.

Fred inched closer, eager to take advantage of the Scizor being severely weakened by his imminent attack. He had been certain that Jet was too preoccupied with whatever Dr. Porygon was doing to step in, but when the Fire Blast exploded and Jet was revealed to have been in its way, he was proven wrong. He made a noise that sounded almost like a sigh, to the particularly imaginative. "You know, Jet," Fred spoke, his tone no different than when the battle started, "I wasn't even going to use this hammer on you. But since you're so intent on standing in my way, I might have to reconsider."
While he talked, he failed to notice that a massive, blue structure was poking its way out of the gaping hole in the ground behind him. "You stand no chance against me. I hope you realize this." The object rose further, revealing a rough blue orb, and that was only the top of it. "You will fall. And then I will terminate you."
The object's shadow reached Fred's position, inciting him to turn around. What he saw legitimately surprised him. It was a towering vessel in the shape of a Beldum, the occasional thick window flush with the side of the body. The platform it stood on finally reached ground level, and Dr. Porygon stood next to the base, where a retractable staircase was deployed.
"So this is that spaceship of yours," identified Fred, heading towards the Beldum ship. "I was told that it was still a work in progress, but no matter. The Creator has made all forms of space travel illegal. I'm afraid I'll have to decommission your ship... and then you."
Porygon seemed prepared, however, for as soon as the Reuniclus came within sight, he had carefully scanned him and all of his potential escape avenues with a Lock-On move. Without another moment of hesitation, he produced a dark purple bomb marked with the letter "I" and hurled it at him. Fred was quickly engulfed in a puff of heavy smoke.
"This way, quickly!" shouted Dr. Porygon. "My prototype Illusion Bomb should keep Fred occupied, but it should only last a minute or so, and that's a fairly optimistic estimation!"

Jet smiled a bit at Tanen's words. It seems that he had made the right decision after all. Not that he really had had any doubts on the matter, but it seemed that even Tanen was satisfied with his choice. And thankfully, while the Scizor was in a weakened state, he was otherwise unharmed, relatively speaking. That sheer sight and thought alone was enough for him to feel a sense of relief. Perhaps things might turn out a bit better for them after all, if things continued to go according to his plans like this.
Jet's relief didn't last long, however, when he realized that Fred was moving closer to them, holding his Thief Hammer at the ready. His eyes widened and he gazed up at the approaching Reuniclus, his very profound fear being shown very clearly. He froze in his fear, his limbs feeling as though they had suddenly turned into blocks of ice. He couldn't move due to this fear.... If Fred decided to use the Thief Hammer on him...well, he was certainly weak enough to be soundly defeated by it.
However, something rose from the ground behind Fred, attracting a quick glance from Jet. That must have been what Dr. Porygon was referring to before. But regardless, Fred began to speak again, attracting his attention back to the Reuniclus. This time, however, he was able to fight his fear. After all, Dr. Porygon was going to do...something to help them. Whatever it was, perhaps all wasn't lost just yet! As the shadow crept up on Fred, Jet tried to keep his attention by struggling to his feet, fighting his instinct to collapse again under the pain of the fresh Burns on his body.
"Try...me...." Jet muttered, surprisingly close to a growling voice for somebody like him. "E...even if it's logically impossible for me to win.... E-even if it's only going to get me killed.... I...I don't care." He then looked up and stared at the Reuniclus and met his gaze, a look of unshakable determination in his eyes. "If I can protect those that actually call somebody as useless as me their friend, then I'll die happy."
However, almost immediately after Jet had finished speaking, Fred had turned around and was gazing toward the spaceship. Jet turned his attention tot he ship as well and his jaw dropped slightly. The Doctor had told them that he was researching space travel, but he had had no idea that he had already created a complete spaceship. Yet here it was, a "Spaceship Beldum" was sitting right in front of him. However, as the scene unfolded before him, his eyes widened again. This time, it was out of shock that Dr. Porygon was now a target...and that he had actually done something in retaliation to at least momentarily stop Fred's advance.
At Porygon's insistence, Jet snapped out of his trance and nodded, turning to look at Tanen again. "T-Tanen!" he exclaimed, reaching down one of his paws to the Scizor. "Come on, we...we've all got to get into that ship!" He tried to grab hold of one of the Scizor's claws and pulled back with all of his strength and tried to help his friend back to his feet, still trying to ignore the Burns on his body, which continued to pain him as his body moved around so much. He didn't care about the pain...he just wanted to get everybody to safety before Fred could recover!

Fred's words sent Tanen into a panic as he realized he'd failed to consider that the Reuniclus might go after Jet, instead. And worse, the Buizel seemed to go from frozen in terror to suicidally courageous, which wouldn't end much better. Tanen again attempted to get up, but the strength to overcome the Paralysis simply wasn't there. "Jet, don't! Please!" he cried desperately, though he knew his friend wouldn't listen.
At that moment, Fred's attention was suddenly diverted to the side, drawing Tanen's gaze along with it. What he saw took his breath away. A spaceship. A real spaceship. He'd determined that it would take a miracle to save them, and the Doctor had indeed delivered a miracle. The sight of the giant Beldum filled Tanen with hope, and the sight of Fred getting clobbered by one of Dr. Porygon's status bombs gave a further boost.
Tanen suddenly realized that Jet was calling his name. He looked over at his friend and gratefully accepted the Buizel's assistance, finally managing to stand up with his help. "Y-yeah... let's go," he agreed, starting to move toward the ship as quickly as he could. It immediately became clear that 'as quickly as he could' wasn't very quick at all. He stumbled and almost fell, just barely catching himself. Tanen turned to Jet with a sheepish expression, wobbling a little as he shifted his balance. "Hey, uh... I think... I'm gonna need you to help me get over there," he said with a grimace. Fred wouldn't stay down long, so time was of the essence.

The smoke cleared rather quickly, with Fred swatting it away and coughing slightly. He stood firm, his eyes slowly focusing. "Your tricks will not work on me, unfortunately for you," Fred confidently upheld, looking perfectly healthy. He scanned the battlefield for his original opponents, including the crippled Tanen. He spotted the Scizor in no time at all. Satisfied, he brandished his Thief Hammer once again. "Now, behold as I reduce your only friend into nothing, while he is so close to salvation." He lifted the hammer high towards the sun over his target, slamming it down...
The dirt in front of him anticlimactically cushioned the blow. Fred had missed Tanen by a mile. His speech also probably would have been more intimidating if he hadn't been facing the forest the entire time, away from all three of them. "What... where did you go?" he asked, twisting his head around frantically. He immediately wished he hadn't, as he had great difficulty stopping his spin, and soon, his whole body was into it until he flopped over pitifully. "Back f'r more, aaare ya?" he slurred, swinging the hammer into the empty air. "Jus'... Jus' one hit an' yer dead. Ya can't keep dodgin' f'reva..."
Dr. Porygon chuckled softly to himself at first, but eventually, he almost started to feel sorry for Fred. "I say..." he uttered. "I wasn't expecting it to be THAT potent. Especially on a foe of that caliber. Perhaps the effect on Psychic-types is more jarring... More tests are needed on that front. I wonder--" He paused, realizing that he was rambling while time was at a premium. "Oh, sorry, nearly got carried away there!" He glanced worriedly over at Tanen. "Um, I think I have some berries on board in the cargo hold... I won't be long!" And with that, he scurried up the stairs into the ship as fast as a Porygon could.

Jet simply nodded up at Tanen in response to the Scizor's request. At first, he didn't say anything at all. After all, he was having a slight difficulty making his way to the spaceship on his own. He was already concentrating on hurrying to that side of the clearing, where he had been previously standing not even a minute ago. Thankfully, his Agility was still in effect, so it wasn't too slow going. Unfortunately, he had no strength-boosting moves, though. At a time like this, he couldn't help but imagine how useful a move like Bulk Up would be for him....
Cutting through his own thoughts, his attention was attracted to Fred as the Reuniclus swung his hammer around. For a moment he just stood and watched. He couldn't help himself...it was just such an amusing sight to behold. The great, fear-inducing Fred...reduced to a drunken blob throwing a hammer around. He had to bite down on his bottom lip to stop himself from letting a chuckle out. That Illusion status wasn't going to stop him for very long. And the three of them needed to be gone by the time he came to his senses.
Finally, Jet replied, "Y-yeah...I'll help if I can...." and looked up at Tanen...and then quickly realized a problem for his plan to help Tanen make his way to the ship. As a Scizor, his friend was more than twice his own height. He stopped and stared for a moment, as though in shock at the revelation. "T-Tanen...c-could you, uh...change for me...?" he murmured lowly and awkwardly, blushing in embarrassment about the height difference. "Y-you're...kind of, uh...er...w-well.... I'm not that tall...." He tapped the tips of his paws together a few times in a nervous, embarrassed manner.

When Tanen heard the start of Fred's speech, he whipped his head around, terrified that the Reuniclus had already recovered and resumed the attack. Unfortunately, the quick motion was enough to cause Tanen to nearly lose his balance again, but upon recovering he laughed out loud at the sight before him. Fred had indeed succumbed to Illusion and had seemingly also lost his balance after attacking a false target. The Psychic-type almost seemed drunk, only compounding the amusing affect.
When Jet spoke up and distracted Tanen from the spectacle, the Scizor nearly facepalm-- er, clawed. "Oh sh*t, Jet, I'm sorry. I didn't think about that," he replied, equally embarrassed. Though, he did wonder whether his Furret form would have remained free of injury. Eager to find out, he switched forms and found to his immense dismay that the pain and stiffness did not diminish in the slightest. Both the Paralysis and the damage he'd sustained had simply transferred to this form. Well, that sucked, but at least now he was a reasonable size for Jet. "Okay, now let's get the hell out of here."

When Tanen realized his mistake, Jet couldn't help but force a small smile. "N-no, I should have realized it sooner, since being a smart person is supposed to really be my only redeeming trait." However, now that Tanen had reverted back to his Furret form, he would be much easier to help lift and carry. He reached down and grabbed one of Tanen's paw-arms and threw it around his neck, underneath his floatation sac. Unfortunately, another problem arose in that Furret's arms were relatively short. However, he didn't care about this one. He was going to get Tanen safely into that spaceship even if he had to carry him on his back the entire way.
Still sporting a small blush from the embarrassing size mishap, Jet stepped forward slowly, taking one step after another. He fought through the constant, aching pain that the Burn was throwing at his mind and worried only about getting the two of them safely aboard the nearby ship where they could finally rest and escape Fred's wrath.
Jet took the small journey one step at a time...he put one foot forward, then the other before throwing the first one forward again. Each step was getting progressively more difficult through the Burn and the weight on his shoulders, and beads of sweat began forming on his brow from the effort.
Eventually, the two of them managed to arrive near the stairway that led up into the rocket. They were just a couple of feet away, and it would just take a few more steps before they were safely aboard. "Just a...little more...!" Jet murmured. He managed to reach the foot of the stairs and lifted a foot to place onto the first step...but he finally succumbed to his exhaustion and fell forward instead, falling directly onto the bottom of the stairs. "Nghk...d-darn it.... T-Tanen, you think you can...make the rest by yourself...? I'll...be right behind you in just a moment...."

Tanen couldn't help but scowl slightly as Jet spoke. "Would you give it a rest with that? 'Only redeeming trait' my *ss. You just got through with saving me and standing up to that psycho!" he snapped, wishing he could get his friend to see how valuable he really was. "I mean... I ran like a scared little Delibird. Not everyone could do what you did," he finished more gently, realizing that despite his good intentions, getting upset with Jet would only worsen the problem.
He did his best to help move them along toward the ship, though being Psralyzed meant that he really couldn't do very much to help. As they went, however, Tanen noticed that Jet seemed to be growing weaker and weaker, then remembered the Burn he was suffering from. "Hey, are you okay...?" he asked, knowing it was a fairly stupid question. But they reached the ship soon enough and Tanen sighed in relief as they approached the entrance.
Suddenly, the support from his friend disappeared as Jet collapsed onto the stairs. Tanen stumbled as well but managed to maintain his footing, then rushed to Jet's side. "Hell no, I ain't leaving you out here when you just got me all this way! C'mon, let's go," he said, using Helping Hand again before grabbing Jet's hand and mirroring the Buizel's earlier actions in pulling him up and supporting him on Tanen's shoulder. While it would be much slower progress due to Paralysis directly inhibiting the Furret's movements, he was determined to help his friend the way Jet had helped him.

Jet was very grateful to have a friend like Tanen. He was always going on about how he should stop looking down on himself and speaking about himself in such a defeatist manner. It felt great to have a friend who was always there trying to support him like that...even if he himself wasn't so sure that he really deserved it. On top of that, Tanen wasn't willing to go ahead without him, like he had said to. But...he was only slowing the Scizor down now. His Burn was simple, physical pain. It was something that could be ignored and fought through. Tanen's Paralysis, on the other hand, was more crippling. It forced its victim to succumb to its whim.
"T-Tanen, don't...!" Jet tried to desperately insist as he felt his arm get swung around the Furret and he started to be carried. "I-I told you...I-I'd be right behind you...you don't have to...!" But he knew that his words would have no meaning. Tanen was stubborn like that. They both were, if he had to be honest, but Tanen seemed to be even more so to him. Even though the extra weight was only slowing the Paralyzed Scizor down even more, he still continued his endeavors. Further, unlike Tanen, his body had reached its limit...he couldn't do anything as his friend dragged him up the stairs.
Jet couldn't help but force a small smile as Tanen helped drag him up the stairs and finally into the ship. Not only was Tanen strong...but in a pinch, he was still very reliable and wouldn't leave him behind, no matter how much he insisted otherwise. Reliability...and strength. These two things together made up the side of Tanen that Jet truly admired. "...Thank you," he said at last in his weak, exhausted tone.

The room which Jet and Tanen entered was cylindrical, with a short ceiling and smooth metal walls and floor. A solitary fluorescent lamp above the door kept the inside warmly and uniformly lit. The interior was mostly empty, save for a ladder on the opposite end leading up to a large hatch in the ceiling, and a machine attached to the center of the floor containing three pistons in a transparent tube. A console near the machine contained a couple of levers and buttons. There were no windows on the walls, either.
Shortly after the two entered, the ceiling hatch opened. Dr. Porygon came down the ladder, carrying six berries. He turned around, the sight of the Buizel and Furret catching him by surprise. "Oh, you're already here," he greeted. "Good! Eat these and head into the room above as quickly as you can, and as soon as you do, find a seat and hold on tight while I'll start the engines!" He dumped the pile of berries in front of the two. There were four Sitrus Berries, one Cheri Berry, and one Rawst Berry. Wasting no time, he pulled a lever, closing the door behind them, and then headed back up the ladder. In seconds, the ship began to subtly vibrate and hum with accumulating power.

Tanen would have liked to respond to Jet's protests, but it was already taking all of his concentration to keep himself on his feet and moving. Progress was slow but mostly steady, and soon enough he'd finally succeeded in getting himself and Jet safely into the ship.
His energy long since spent, Tanen finally allowed himself to collapse onto the deck of the craft as soon as they'd crossed the threshold. He smiled weakly as Jet thanked him. "Hey, no problem," he lied. He was just glad they were both safe.
The sight of Dr. Porygon holding a huge pile of berries was most certainly a sight for sore eyes, and Tanen eagerly reached for the Cheri Berry, relieved that he'd finally be free of this damned Paralysis. Next, he ate two of the Sitrus Berries, smiling as he felt strength returning to his battered body. He stood up and stretched, then glanced over at Jet. "It looks like we're gonna get to explore space after all, huh?" he said, not even trying to conceal his eagerness this time. He headed for the ladder, checking to make sure Jet was following before starting to climb up.

Jet looked on as Tanen finally managed to successfully drag him on board the space ship. It would seem that the three of them had finally managed to get away mostly intact. At least for now. After all, they hadn't exactly taken off yet, so Fred was still just a few meters away, with just this Beldum-shaped rocket between them. Was this enough to keep a monster like Fred out? He wasn't sure, and his exhausted mind didn't feel much like thinking about it, one way or the other.
Jet collapsed onto the floor of the deck with Tanen. He had already practically collapsed into Tanen's grip, so his falling to the floor immediately was only bound to happen as well. He winced in pain slightly as his burned body collided with the floor, tears forming in the corner of his eyes as he fought back the urge to let out a whimper from the pain. His friend had just taken the time to drag him into the ship...he couldn't simply reply with the whimpering of a weakling. He needed to show his appreciation...and try to be just as useful as Tanen claimed he was...and live up to his expectations.
When Dr. Porygon appeared, Jet barely noticed. He heard the Doctor's words and he committed the instructions to memory easily enough, but he found it hard to actually focus on the Porygon. He reached out with his paws and tried to grab the nearest Berry, the Rawst Berry...but in his weak state, he clumsily knocked it away with his paw instead of grabbing it, and it rolled closer to Tanen. "Ngh...o-oops...." he muttered. Thankfully, it didn't seem like Tanen noticed as the Furret got back to his feet and made his way toward the ladder.
Instead of his initial plan, Jet reached for the next Berry, a Sitrus one this time, and took a bite out of it. Once he had finished that Sitrus Berry, he felt some of his strength return and he was able to sit up straight again. He then reached for the second and devoured that one as well. Now he felt plenty of strength and energy return to his previously wounded body. Now there was just one thing left to do.... He got back to his feet and walked over to pick up the Rawst Berry. Once he had it in his grip, he made his way toward the ladder, taking a bite out of the Berry on the way.
Jet grinned slightly at Tanen's words and nodded. "Y-yeah...as long as we can get out of here before Fred breaks the ship." It seemed as though Tanen's eagerness to be going into space was contagious...as Jet felt the exact same feeling. He had only ever really wanted to study and learn about the galaxy from the safety of the ground. But, now that he was practically being forced to go, he felt an excitement that he didn't expect. Perhaps exploration was more fun to him than he had previously realized....
Tossing the rest of his Rawst Berry into his mouth, Jet grabbed hold of the ladder right after Tanen. He gave the room they were in one last surveying look before climbing the ladder while the Berry worked to heal his burns. They needed to hurry. Surely that Illusion Bomb was starting to wear off by now....

The next room was significantly more livable. It contained six vertical-facing seats made of blue cushions that had a fair amount of give to them, three per side and within climbing distance of each other. Porygon had clearly aimed for the Goldilocks' zone when making these, as they were not too firm and not too soft. Each one also had a pair of thick seatbelts, a handful of controls with a headset attached by wire on the left armrest, and a cupholder on the right. From the seated perspective, there was also a sizable screen above. Overall, it was reminiscent of a fancy passenger airplane.
The left and right walls also had rather large windows providing a clear view of the outside. Fred could be seen from one side, balancing shakily on the handle of the thief hammer in roughly the same position they left him in. He appeared to be recovering somewhat, but he was still not quite in his right mind.
A terse, pleasant jingle resounded through the cabin as the screen lit up to an image of Dr. Porygon's face. "...I think that was the one. Yes, hello?" came the doctor's voice through a speaker mounted next to the screen. "Jet? Tanen? Is this thing on?" He made a quick glance to the side, presumably to check on Fred. "Oh my. We're cutting this one close. Er, please pick a seat and strap yourselves in!" His head angled downward, scanning the dashboard, and pressed a few buttons. "I'm powering up the auxiliary lifters... now." With one rough shake, a whirring noise from below emanated, increasing in pitch. "Once they're operating at full capacity, I'll switch the primary thruster, at which point you better brace yourselves! Not even I know how wild this ride is!"

Tanen looked around the room, eyes wide as he got a look at the interior of a real spacecraft. "Doc, this is great!" he commented, heading for the closest seat on the right per Dr. Porygon's instructions. He frowned as he spotted Fred out the window, and decided the doctor was most certainly right about cutting it close.
Before he could even settle into the seat, the craft shook and knocked the Furret off his feet. He landed sprawled across two seats, the impact hurting despite the padding. "I think I'm gonna... Be made of metal." he muttered, switching to his Scizor form just for the sake of added durability. Finally settling into a seat and strapping himself in, he waited tensely, a lot more nervous than he thought he would be. Sure, he wanted to go into space, but he wasn't so sure he liked the process of getting there. Glancing over at Jet, he offered a tense smile. "You ready? I can't believe we're actually going to space, but like it or not I guess it's where we're going!" He looked up at the screen, gulping nervously at Dr. Porygon's last remark. "Well, that's comforting. I... Just hope we make it there in one piece."

Jet grinned as he peeked into the room just as Tanen moved out of his path. "Wow, this place looks cool...!" he exclaimed, stepping further up the ladder. "So this is what the inside of a spaceship looks like...." he murmured. Although he knew that it was certainly no design that a person in their home dimension would use, it certainly seemed interesting enough to him. And the fact that it all came together to form the shape of a Beldum was a great touch in his opinion.
The Buizel didn't have to look long before he figured out which seat he would want to take when Dr. Porygon's face showed up on the screen above them. He nodded in agreement to Tanen's comment before moving to take his place in the seat just opposite him. Just before he could take his seat, however, the craft shook, nearly throwing him off of the ladder. But even worse, Tanen fell just in front of his face, and he narrowly avoided instinctively releasing the ladder in his surprise. Tanen had just fallen directly onto the seat he had just been about to throw himself into. Thankfully, the Furret had stopped there and hadn't fallen any further.
Once all of that was all settled, Jet breathed a small sigh of relief and pulled himself up and into the closest seat to his left, so that he would be directly opposite Tanen. He wanted to ask the Furret...no, now the Scizor if he was alright after that spill, but it seemed like he was fine...albeit clearly on the nervous side. He nodded at Tanen's question and smiled back. "I can't wait...to see what space looks like in this dimension, or even at all. It's one thing to see pictures...but people say that it's nothing compared to being there personally." At his friend's last remark, he couldn't help but let out a small laugh. "Don't worry, I've learned a long time ago that I can really trust Dr. Porygon. I'm not worried. I know he'll get us out there." His smile then faded slightly as he thought more about the situation. "If anything, I'd be more worried about what we DO find out there when we get there. Something is telling me that this trip isn't going to be all fun and games, you know...?"
As though wanting to get his mind off of the incoming launch and the possible dangers of this dimension's outer space, he turned to look out the window to see what Fred was up to now while he strapped himself in. Now that the rocket was about to blast off...would they get off the ground in time to escape Fred's wrath? The last thing they needed was for that monster to find some way to blast a hole in the ship and find a way inside.... Was Fred out of his Illusion status now? Or was he still dancing around with that hammer like a blind drunk? "And...I guess he's our first obstacle." he murmured under his breath.

Dr. Porygon nodded, confirming with his own camera that the two passengers were in their seats and sufficiently braced. "Right, here comes the main thruster!" he announced, throwing a lever just off-screen. There was a sound like a miniature explosion, and the outside view began to escape downward, slowly but surely. Porygon kept a close eye on the various readings and meters on his console, making manual adjustments accordingly. It was a somewhat bumpy ascent, and the speed was quite a bit slower than what Porygon expected as well.
"As long as they're still in the atmosphere, I have a chance...!" Fred's voice echoed, as clear as ever. Porygon's eyes widened. Just outside the right window, a green blob zoomed ever closer, gaining on the rocket quickly. It was, much to the doctor's bewilderment, the Reuniclus, holding onto his hammer with one hand and clenching his fist in the other, poised as if ready to smash the window open with his bare hand. And probably some punching move.
"Oh no..." muttered Porygon, his eyes darting back and forth between his available options. "Figures that 'Fly' would be among the many moves that monster has access to... I knew I should have looked into weaponry for this thing..." His gaze stopped on the steering apparatus in the center. "Okay, desperate times call for desperate measures... we'll lose quite a bit of fuel, but it's better than losing our lives! Hang on, you two!"
Dr. Porygon watched the viewport closely, waiting for just the right moment. Fred grew closer with each second, until he was just under the jet stream. With a mighty yank, the rocket veered suddenly to the left, putting Fred out of sight. A few seconds later, the course corrected back to an upright position. A severely burned Reuniclus could be seen hurtling back towards the lab, the wind taken clean out of his sails.
"And now, for my final trick..." Dr. Porygon said, his voice notably uneasy. "This may seem rash, but rest assured..." He sounded as though he were talking to himself just as much, if not more so than Jet and Tanen. "I have a very good reason for this." He watched Fred crash through the ceiling of his lab. He held up a remote control with a single button, closing his eyes. The button was pressed...
KABOOM! With a gargantuan explosion, the entirety of Dr. Porygon's lab went up in flames. Huge chunks of debris flew in every direction. There were a few subsequent explosions, signifying the detonation of some of the inventor's more volatile devices. Porygon couldn't help but open his eyes in the middle of it all, making sure the bomb went off. "HA!" he laughed triumphantly. "You tell the Creator that he can keep his cruddy dimension! If he'll even talk to you again after another embarrassing defeat, that is! Hahahahaha!!" He cackled madly, dancing around in his chair. "Ohhhh, I really needed that one! I've never felt more alive! Next stop: Anywhere but here!"

Jet felt his body tense up as the rocket's main thruster powered up. He could feel the ship lifting upward, causing him to be pressed down against the seat that he had fastened himself to. All sense of excitement and joy in the idea of going into space was instantly forgotten as he was gripped by a sudden sense of fear. It had been one thing to think about it and to dream about what was out here...but now they were actually one their way into a deep, black unknown...away from anything the relatively safe life of the dimension below. Further, the thoughts of the few other friends who weren't Tanen came to his mind. Hopefully, they would be back eventually, though...right...?
But Jet's fear only increased when he heard that familiar voice echo in his mind. His eyes widened and he turned his head to the side, trying to fight against the G-forces against him in the ascent. Sure enough, the horrible sight of the Reuniclus was flying right in their direction, clearly ready to pound his way into the spaceship. He wanted to cry out for somebody to do something...but he couldn't find his voice for a moment. If he broke into the ship now, not only would they be in immediate danger of Fred once again, but with a shattered window, there would be no way they could safely go into vacuum of space...and they would have to find a way back to the ground below.
Thankfully, however, Dr. Porygon wasn't going to let that happen. Jet watched as Dr. Porygon piloted the rocket in such a way that it caused Fred to get fried in the rocket's boosters...or at least, that's what he assumed due to the uncomfortable sudden jerking of the ship's position. In fact, if he hadn't been strapped in, he'd probably suffer from whiplash. But when Jet heard Dr. Porygon's words about some kind of 'final trick,' Jet couldn't help but wonder what he meant...was another step really necessary?
It was then that a loud explosion erupted from the ground below them, and Jet's eyes widened with shock. "Th...the lab...!" he exclaimed, struggling to look out the window toward the destroyed laboratory. Jet looked up at Dr. Porygon, who seemed surprisingly joyful about what had just happened. He felt a strong sense of regret and sadness at the loss of the same place he had spent so much time and where so many of his brightest memories had originated. And suddenly, he was overtaken by a powerful sense of homesickness. Now that the lab was destroyed and that he had no idea when he would return to this place...he almost didn't want to leave.
The realization struck Jet hard. He had never realized that he had come to live...somewhat peacefully in this world for so long, and had met so many wonderful people. Although some of the people he had met weren't so wonderful, the idea that they were just...leaving them behind started to weigh heavily on his mind. He had never realized it yet, but....
He had actually started to call this place his home.
But now, it was too late to change his mind or turn back. They had had no choice but to do this if they wanted to escape Fred's wrath and now they had to see it through to the best of their ability. Hopefully, everything would work out in the end...but he wasn't sure that he would ever be able to forget everything that had happened to him here, both the good and the bad. Now that the immediate threat of Fred was passed, he calmly stared out the window and watched everything speed past them almost in a longing, almost sad manner.

The sky slowly darkened as the ship soared into the planet's upper atmosphere. Though faint, the stars were just starting to show. "Ahaha..." Dr. Porygon's laughter petered out. "Ah... it feels so good to leave all of my worldly possessions and worries behind... to start a carefree life exploring the stars and their endless wonder... and no-one to breathe down your neck just for indulging in hobbies such as astronomy!" His wistful gaze fell on his monitor once again, reminding him that he was not alone. "Oh, I'm terribly sorry if all this feels sudden or extreme... I'll give you the full story while I'm executing the gravity burn that will put us into orbit." He turned back to the controls, muttering to himself. "Now, hopefully my calculations are correct... I didn't have much time to run the simulations... or design a program that could run simulations, for that matter..."
The ship tilted ever so slightly, adjusting its trajectory. Porygon cleared his throat. "So, both of you were originally humans, correct?" he began. "From the moment you were abducted, you were lead to believe that you had been taken to another dimension. Well, I've done some extensive research and have formed a hypothesis: that this planet and your original home planet are not in separate dimensions, but in fact, coexist in the same universe!" He paused for effect as he adjusted the ship's angle again. The atmosphere was thin enough to be nearly invisible at this altitude. "Of course, I don't have enough evidence to support this theory yet, hence the fact that it's a hypothesis. However, while stargazing with a long-range telescope of my own invention, I stumbled across a star with a very similar age and composition to our own. The solar system contains eight planets in total... well, nine if you count the tiny one with the weird angle on the very end... and the third planet from the sun happens to be in the perfect location for harboring life. It's very similar to our own planet in many ways - I even picked up some radio waves originating from that system! They were very faint, but the transmission I heard sounded almost like English!"
The ship was nearly horizontal now, and far enough above the planet that its roundness was clearly visible. The belt of the galaxy painted a murky line across space, stars extending out from it in a random fashion. The effects of gravity had completely vanished, leaving anything inside that wasn't nailed down or strapped in to float freely. "So, then, is it not possible that the Creator, being some sort of extra-terrestrial, utilized advanced alien technology to capture humans, transform them into Pokemon, and deposit them onto this planet? In an infinite universe such as this, I believe anything is possible. But as to why they would do such a thing... who knows. A science experiment, perhaps?" The engines slowly powered down, stopping the ship's acceleration. "Well, anyway, we have successfully achieved orbit!" the doctor announced. "Feel free to unbuckle yourselves now. We have plenty of time to relax! I'll join you two shortly; if you have any questions, I'll gladly answer them then." The screen went blank.

From the moment the main thruster kicked in, Tanen shut his eyes tight and tried not to think about the mass of highly combustible material that was quite literally exploding to life beneath him. He'd always had some interest in space, particularly after a brief visit to Mossdeep's space center he'd once made. Granted, it had not been a friendly visit and was on the behalf of Team Rocket (appropriately enough), but the sight of the machine on the launch pad and the equipment around him had piqued his interest nonetheless.
Despite his curiosity, he'd never really considered what it would actually take to get into space. He'd certainly never given a thought to going up into space himself, given the risks. But now here he was, doing just that, albeit in a somewhat different situation than he'd ever envisioned. He didn't dare open his eyes, but he wished he could bear to take one last glance at the land that he had considered more of a home than his world had ever been. Despite the rough start, he'd grown to enjoy being a Pokemon -- even a Bug-type -- and he'd made friends and found a life in which he didn't have to worry about being himself or fitting in.
Tanen did open his eyes in shock when a voice rang out in his head, and instantly regretted doing so. There he was, the monster Fred was keeping pace with the rocket and there was nothing they could do. Or so Tanen thought; the ship wrenched to the side in a gut-twisting maneuver that made Tanen wonder whether Scizor was actually able to be sick and whether he'd soon find out. On the bright side, he caught a glimpse of the charred Reuniclus plummeting back down, on a collision course with the lab. "Good riddance," he murmured as he looked away, his voice sounding oddly strained under the influence of the G-forces acting on him.
The Scizor had barely uttered his quip when the jarring sound of an explosion reached his ears and his eyes darted back to the window. The lab... Dr. Porygon's lab had self-destructed, and now the flaming ruins that showered down upon the site were all that remained of the marvelous facility and the incredible inventions it had contained. Tanen again closed his eyes, letting his head sink back into the seat and trying to dispell the image that had burned itself into his retinas. The sounds of a jubilant Dr. Porygon reached his ears, and the Scizor focused on the voice to keep himself distracted from what was happening around him. What the doctor was saying was interesting enough, and after a short while Tanen felt the forces on him ease up, giving way to a bizarre floaty feeling.
Finally allowing himself to open his eyes, the Scizor stared out the window at the planet below. Once the doctor had given the go-ahead, Tanen unbuckled the seat restraints and let himself float around for a while. Deciding pretty soon that it was making him ill, he made his way back to his seat, clinging to it uneasily. "This..." he paused, the persistent sick feeling causing his words to get caught in his throat. "This has got to be the weirdest day in my entire life. Including when I first woke up as a Pokemon," he finished finally.
