Name: Colin Dawson
Nickname: Colin (also sometimes called "Crowlet" by members of his father's organization, due to his deep black hair and his father's alias "Crow")
Gender: Male
Age: 13
Starter: Murkrow
Starting Power: 70
Starting Money: 220
Appearance: A fairly typical Murkrow, with some slight changes in coloration. Instead of red eyes, he has violet, and the band on his tail is light blue. His beak and talons are also slightly lighter than normal, and his feathers slightly darker.
Personality: Colin is a very quiet boy. Because of his frailty, he never had much chance to go outside and play with others when he was a child, and became very shy as a result of it. It tends to take him quite a bit of effort to work up the courage to approach someone he's never talked to before. With people he has spoken to for a while, however, he tends to be significantly more comfortable. He's still timid, and tends to try and let the other person do most of the talking, but he at least manages to keep himself from stuttering.
Despite his awkwardness around people, Colin very much enjoys spending time with Pokémon, and is actually quite good at taking care of them. His father often asks him to look after eggs or raise Pokémon for him, and Colin is usually happy to oblige. Though his frailty prevents him from doing so, Colin has always wanted to go on a journey as a Trainer and see new Pokémon. It's one of the only reasons he goes along with the medicines and treatments his doctor puts him on. Though he dislikes them, he really wants to get healthy so he can go off on an adventure.
Nature: Timid, Insecure.
Biography: Colin has always been rather frail. For a period of time, he was even prone to collapsing out of nowhere. In recent years, he's become a bit stronger, but is noticeably pale and tends to avoid physical exertion. It came as a bit of a surprise to just about everyone who knew him, then, when he leapt into an icy river to save a young Pokémon who'd fallen in. He managed to successfully grab the Pokémon and swim to shore with it, where he promptly lost consciousness. His friends were nearby, so they were fortunately able to take him to a local hospital. He got very badly sick due to the cold water and his general frailty, but eventually did recover.
One thing that bugged him, however, was that, not even when there was a chance he might've died, did his father come to see him.
Colin tended to struggle to gain his father's approval, with the man always busy working. He did often ask Colin to help, but gave him no more recognition than he would any other person working under him. The fact that Colin was his own son did not seem to mean much in his eyes. Colin often worried that this might be because of his sickliness. That his father thought him weak.
So as Colin stood on the bridge, staring down at the very river where he'd saved that Pokémon, sulking over his father's lack of attention towards him, something peculiar happened. He heard a strange voice calling out to him. Colin...
He turned around and saw in front of him a swirling mass of colors. The voice spoke again, seemingly coming from the colorful... thing. Colin... Why so sad...? It asked.
Colin was very confused, but somehow felt compelled to answer the question. He lowered his head and said quietly, "My dad hates me. He thinks I'm weak." An exaggeration and an assumption, of course, formed by the paranoid mind of an insecure 13 year old.
Awww... That's too bad... The colors said sadly, then continued, its voice now distinctly less melancholy, making it uncomfortably obvious that the sadness had not been completely sincere. But you know... You can escape from that stress.
Colin looked up, his curiosity piqued. "How?" He asked. By entering the Portal, of course. Just step into the pretty colors, and you'll be taken to a place where it doesn't matter what your pops thinks of you~ The colors - apparently a portal - said cheerfully. Colin was somehow bothered by this. "But... Will I be able to come back?" He asked nervously.
Why would you want to? Asked the Portal. It seemed genuinely curious.
"I have friends here... Even if my dad doesn't want me around, they do." Colin replied, unconsciously smiling a bit at the thought of his friends.
Hmmm! Well, you could always make new friends where you're going! The Portal said happily. It seemed dead-set on getting Colin to go through it. Colin, however, was not quite convinced. "I don't know..." Both he and the Portal paused for a moment, before the latter spoke up again.
You'll get a stronger body.
Colin froze. He would be... stronger? He took a moment to think about that. Whether or not his father really hated his weakness, Colin himself had always disliked his frailty. It barred him from living a normal life, from playing outside as a child, from going on a journey to be Trainer as he so wanted to. If he was stronger, then...
Tick-tock, Crowlet~ You're running out of time. The Portal chirped, shaking Colin out of his thoughts. He frowned a bit at the nickname, briefly wondering how the Portal even knew about that, then asked what it meant. "Running out of time?"
Yes, yes, yes, time is ticking! Either you step through the Portal yourself, or time will run out and you'll be sucked in anyway. One is more pleasant than the other, so choose wisely - and quickly!
Colin's eyes widened at this, and he began to protest. "Wait! Go in myself or be sucked in? I have no choice?!"
Nope! And time just ran out, unfortunately, so the unpleasant method it is~ The Portal's colors began to swirl much faster than before, as a powerful vortex began to draw Colin into its depths. "W-Wait! No! No!! I don't want this-!" Colin protested, but it was too late. The wind had already picked him up and dragged him into the Portal, and as quietly as it had appeared, the swirling colors vanished into nothing, leaving no trace of either it or its victim.
