Biography:
Doug was a spoiled brat. He had never worked a day in his life and didnt intend to start. That didn't change his nature as a dreamer though. He wanted to live forever, to see the future. He wanted it by any means possible, and he would take any risk he needed to, and even pay all his money, every last dime. Thats when he saw the advertisement on the side of a building in his home town of Celadon. "Live to see the future!" it proudly boasted. Doug, of course, took a look inside.
Inside we're two "scientists", or so they had dubbed themselves, claiming that if they froze him, they would eventually be able to thaw him out. (They predicted somewhere around the 1950's but they couldn't be sure.) After a few months of thinking it over, Doug agreed. And so the process began.
That night, Doug went to sleep in something like an elongated fruit crate. The "scientists" had explained exactly what would happen. THe crate he was in would be placed inside another larger crate filled with ice, and later placed inside a freezer. Doug woke up the next morning. "Funny, I wasn't supposed to wake up... so this must be the future!" Doug thought to himelf. He tried to open his eyes but everything stayed dark. He tried to yell, struggle, anything, but his body wouldn't respond! There was nothing left but thought, and existence. A boring existence. He bagan to think it all though. He must have been ripped off. There was no way this was going to work, and he should've known it.
100 years later...
Doug has thought through it all, over and over again. He knew he'd been tricked, but not completely. He was still alive. But there was nothing left to think. He tried to die but couldn't. He started hearing voices. Thoughts that weren't his. "I must truly be crazy, either that or this is death. Existence with no life at all."
100 more years later...
By now the thought that these voices could be real has long past. He has begun to listen to them as though he we're overhearing peoples private conversations with themselves. Apparently the store he was once froaen in has now become a restaurant. Thoughts of food surrounded him. Mostly the chefs making food. But there we're other thoughts too. The thoughts of people in the alley behind the restaurant. The people dining in the restaurant.
"Maybe my boyfreind is cheating on me."
"I think I'll take Ranch dressing. French dressing gives me gas after all"
"Oh man, I'll be in the doghouse tonight. I can't believe I wasted all our money on those slots!"
"Itchy mayonaise por favor?"
50 years later, or the present...
Doug continues to hear thoughts. Now theyre all crowding together in his head. He knows they can't be real, none of them make sense. He's began to disregard them completely. Until he hears another voice. This one sounding less like a thought and more like an actual conversation.
"Doug, do you want to live again?"
Well yeah he wanted to live again. What kind of question was that?
"Do you want to come to my world, Doug?"
Your world? I'll take any would besides my own right now.
"All right, but remember, you wanted this."
And then, all the thoughts disappeared.
