Jet could hardly believe what he'd heard his ally say to him. He was ensnared, about to get toasted, and all he could do was worry about getting a date!? Then again, he supposed he couldn't blame anything but the infatuation status for that. He knew that Bob could be thick...but if there was anything Bob had proven to him, it was that he wasn't one to intentionally let his friends down. But unfortunately, that didn't help him here. And Jet suddenly cried out loudly in pain as a sudden burst of electricity blasted him from the Electrike's energy reserves. And thanks to that Charge, he was taking double the damage from a move he was already weak against Type-wise. Thankfully, though, he didn't seem to be the only one suffering from the powered-up, powerful Electric-type attack. Apparently he had used Discharge instead of something like Thunderbolt, which ended up striking his ally as well as his foe. As a result, he felt the vines gripping him slacken until gravity pulled his body to the earth. He collapsed, laying there for the moment and unable to move. He may have been released, but that certainly didn't take away from the amount of damage he'd taken from a double-strength Discharge attack.
The Buizel simply laid there for the moment, unable to think through the electricity that he could still practically feel crackling throughout his body. Mud Sport may have blocked a bunch of the damage, but what was left was still devastating to somebody like him. And without Bob's help, he was certain that that attack would have knocked him out then and there. Thank goodness Bob thought ahead like that....
After a few moments of simply laying on the ground, Jet pushed his paws beneath him and started pushing himself back up onto his feet again. Although the damage he had sustained was quite visible. He was slightly scorched from the electrical burn resulting from his opponent's attack and he was breathing heavily. Still...still, he couldn't afford to lose. If he lost here, then Bob was sure to lose next. And if he was defeated, they'd be captured and brought to the Dimensional Guard. Then there'd be no helping them. But what was there left to do? That Electrike was faster than him. And as long as that Tangela was still up, he would be outnumbered....
'Wait. The Tangela?' Jet murmured in his mind. 'O-of course! I-I don't have to WIN this fight...I just have to make it possible for Bob to win. If I can just snap him out of his trance....' Well, for right now, there was a more pressing concern. He'd been down for a while, meaning the Electrike and Tangela had had just as much time as he did so far. He needed to make a move now or he might never get to make it at all. But what could he do...?
Well for now, he needed to back away, which he did immediately. Jet took a few steps backward, hoping to put some distance between himself and the two Pokémon in front of him. He was now ready to do it. It was the only move he had that could work right now without putting him directly into the Tangela's grasp if it backfired. It was the safest bet. And that was really saying something. The Sea Weasel took a deep breath and tried to recall everything Marduk had instructed him to do. Keep calm...focus on the air around him...try to steady his breathing and keep his mind focused. And finally...he exhaled, attempting to blast both of the Pokémon standing before him with a swift gale of Icy Wind!
...Unfortunately for him, however, that plan did not work as well as he had hoped it would. Instead of a burst of freezing air that would deal some great damage against that Tangela and slow both of his foe's down, all that emerged from him was a loud sigh. Not even the slightest hint of cold air came from his lips, let alone an icy gale. "Ngh...d-darn it, I knew I was no good at this. Maybe Marduk was right and all that training was just a waste of time...." he murmured lowly to himself, recalling Marduk's initial lack of interest toward taking the time from their Diamond search to tutor him.
~~~~~
Marduk listened to the Croagunk and the Phanpy begin to argue, and he didn't hesitate to take his chance. He couldn't close the gap like he had wanted to. But that was alright...he now had another plan in mind. His Tailwind was due to peter out relatively soon. He would have to make his move before then if he wanted to keep the Croagunk occupied long enough for the Ducklett's to also run out. He had to make every second count. And he couldn't afford to underestimate these Pokémon just because of the fact that they were unevolved and apparently relatively inexperienced.
And so, he silently listened to the banter going on between the Croagunk and the Phanpy, taking note that not even the Ducklett was watching him right now. That was perfect. Then nobody would notice him scratching his claws together in the air, utilizing a Swords Dance in preparation for his move. The most likely wrench in his plan would be this Phanpy. He'd have to remember to keep an eye on his movements. With that shocking speed of his, and now backed by a Tailwind, he could potentially get overwhelmed. If that speed was properly utilized, of course.
Bob felt his muscles liquefy at the Spritzee's remark. She seemed to be willing to take it farther than Bob had originally expected! Granted, anything beyond outright rejection was farther than Bob expected, but he was excited all the same. He didn't even suspect anything was up when his body failed to react to his overwhelming urge to jump around wildly in celebration. For once, the Zigzagoon's happiness exceeded his energy reserves. He certainly had no chance of noticing the electric light-show that was happening behind him.
"Well, I do like that idea," Bob agreed, slurring slightly. All of the conditions piled on him at once resulted in a numbing, woozy feeling. "What were you thinking? Anything specific? I can be specific for you, darling..."
It was about that point when he heard a loud sigh from behind him, snapping him back into reality for a brief moment. Relatively speaking. He snapped around, rotating a few more degrees than he intended at first, but ultimately shakily staring down Jet. "Now look here bub," he began, "You wanna rain all over my parade, you can do so on your own time. I'm fixing to... to..." His feet gave way from under him as his misplaced focus was shattered, having been redirected long enough for him to realize what was happening. Now fully aware of their situation, he silently gave a slight nod and a wink at Jet in acknowledgement. There weren't many things they could do to turn the fight around, but Bob knew of one strategy that rarely failed him. Especially with Jet to look after him.
"You know what, it isn't worth it. Just stay out of my business okay?" he finished, hoping that his apparent drunkenness could mask the fact that he was now faking it. He turned back toward the Spritzee, trying his best not to look directly at her lest the Attract kick in again. "We could do a lot together, my little Pecha Berry," he continued. "I can take a lot of punishment, if you're into that sort of thing..."
He prepared to demonstrate this statement by rolling lazily over onto his back and violently beating his stomach with his front paws. He winced with each hit, throwing in a laugh or two for effect. "Ooh yeah. I like that," he commented. With this oh-so-cleverly disguised Belly Drum move, he exchanged his health for the strength he would need to come back out on top. But he knew that doing anything with it right away would be very risky, especially while still paralyzed.
He forced a yawn. "But first... a little nap." He curled up on the ground, falling asleep instantly. His follow-up move, Rest, would cure him of Paralysis and revert the damage from Belly Drum simultaneously. He just hoped that his opponents would count him out due to insanity, or that Jet could keep their attention away long enough for him to wake up...
The Spritzee watched as Bob went through his ritual and eventually put himself to sleep. It's always the ones with a screw loose, isn't it Jewel? This is what I have to work with. Can I just get to work my magic on one normal guy? Just one? Is that really too much to ask?
The Spritzee couldn't dwell on possible poor life choices for long, though. Her team needed her. She released another scent, her Aromatherapy. It didn't take long for the Tangela to feel back to normal again, finally making her way back to her feet.
The Electrike growled, frustrated by his own inability to control his own attack. He wasn't about to let the Spritzee be able to say she had to clean up after his mess. He sprinted toward the Buizel, shrouding himself in more sparks in a Wild Charge attack.
~~~~~
The Croagunk and Phanpy continued to argue as Howard looked on. Though the other two were completely oblivious, Howard was aware that Marduk was up to something. If he didn't get those two to focus quickly, this entire plan was going to fall flat.
So the Ducklett drew back, threw his beak skyward and let out a spew of water in the form of Water Sport, soaking everyone and everything around, including his allies.
"Now what the hell are YOU doing?" Gant demanded, glaring at the Ducklett. Howard remained stoic, and waved toward Marduk as he was still in the middle of preparing his next attack.

Jet had a slight moment of panic when he realized that not only had his attempt at Icy Wind had failed for one reason or another, but the Electrike was starting another powerful attack. He recognized it immediately as a move that was equivalent to a Pikachu's Volt Tackle. And on top of that, the Tangela was back on her feet again, that sweet-smelling, perfume-like scent must have been another Aromatherapy for her teammates. He was in big trouble now. If he didn't do something quickly, he'd undoubtedly be taken down by that Wild Charge. And even if he didn't, that Tangela would probably be ready to just Bind him up again. Or worse, use another Mega Drain. He couldn't let that happen. Not even Bob could handle three foes by himself.
Jet thought quickly and tried to figure out a move that could stall his two adversaries for as long as he could. The move that first came to mind was the one he decided to work with. He put his paws above his head, where a vortex of water began to form, swirling above him. Then, with a loud grunt, he launched the Whirlpool attack as hard as he could, hoping to envelop both the Electrike and the Tangela in the attack. And if it worked, with any luck, he might get the Whirlpool to conduct the electricity from that Wild Charge and electrocute them both. If not, though, he wouldn't care. He'd just be grateful for the extra time to himself.
If his attack didn't work as planned, though, he would probably feel the Elecrike's skull smash into his torso, and he'd be sent flying backward and crash into the nearest tree, where he'd collapse after taking some heavy damage, Mud Sport or no.
~~~~~
Marduk watched the Croagunk and the Phanpy continue to bicker and nodded to himself. His Swords Dance was now ready. The Ducklett seemed to notice that he was up to something, unfortunately. He must have been paying more attention than he had given him credit for. But in the end, it didn't matter. The Croagunk would not be able to see his next attack coming before it was too late. He quickly planted his left foot back and put his right foot forward to push off with. He then suddenly shoved himself upward, leaping into the air with sudden, miraculous speed. To the untrained eye, he would appear as nothing more than a white blur as he streaked through the air. It would be little more than a second before he had appeared again, this time before the Croagunk. But only after he had dove downward and attempted to drive his right fist into the left side of Gant's face, using an Aerial Ace attack.
The Electrike reacted quickly, dodging around the vortex as it sped past him and into the Tangela. As he dodged, however, he lost control of his attack again. It Discharged, once again hitting the Tangela who had been caught up in the Whirlpool.
"Dammit, can you just stick with the basics?" the Spritzee called out to the Electrike, too far away to do anything herself. "You really don't have to hit him that hard. Just hit him already!"
The Electrike did his best to recover from losing control of his attack again, but his Wild Charge took effort and he had really been thrown off by that Whirlpool.
~~~
Gant was easily tossed aside by the Aerial Ace attack. He hit a nearby tree and collapsed. Disoriented, but still conscious, he yelled something that sounded vaguely like a command at his allies who immediately sprung into action.
The Phanpy rolled back into a ball and charged at Marduk in another Slam attack. The Ducklett waved his wing through the air so quickly as to send a sharp, cutting, targeted gust of air, an Air Slash, at Marduk.

Jet gulped as he saw the Electrike manage to evade around his Whirlpool attack. Jet tried to stumble back and away from the incoming Wild Charge attack, and succeeded in his first few steps. But he soon felt his limbs lock up from his Paralysis. "N-n-no, n-not now...!" Jet murmured to himself, bracing for the impact of the powerful move. Thankfully, in his attempt to dodge the Whirlpool, he had actually lost control of his attack, releasing another Discharge instead. However, the Discharge was still just capable of reaching him. If he didn't move, he was done for! "N-no...!" Jet called out, suddenly letting out another loud burst of air from his mouth. This time, however, something happened. His mouth unleashed a gust of speedy, ice-cold winds that would be able to both envelop the Electrike and the Whirpool with Tangela in it if neither of them were successful in evading the attack. It was his Icy Wind!
The sudden gust of wind took him by surprise as well. He hadn't braced himself for the attack properly and he actually ended up falling over backwards from the kickback of his own attack. So the attack did not last long, but it did at least happen. The force of the gale struck up by his Icy Wind tossed him backward slightly so that he ended up sprawled on his back, just outside of the Discharge's range.
He could hardly believe his own luck. He had managed to evade a dangerous attack purely by fluke. He cast a quick glance over to the slumbering Bob, knowing fully well what he was trying to do. And hopefully, he would be successful. Once Bob was back on his feet, he could stand a chance. He just had to stay on his own feet and in the fight long enough to keep them from ganging up on the Zigzagoon....
~~~~~
Marduk did not hesitate as soon as his attack was finished. He did not have time to stand here and admire his handiwork. Especially when he realized that his Tailwind was petering out already. Which meant that, for a short while, his three enemies would be much faster than he was. Plus, he still needed to defeat these three and assist his allies as soon as possible. When Gant had been thrown back, he seemed to bark orders at the other two. And sure enough, they came at him next. But they were nothing he couldn't handle. He turned to face the two incoming Pokémon. As he turned, he quickly slashed his claws through the air, launching an Air Cutter attack toward Howard's Air Slash. Air Slash was typically a stronger move, but he ran on the assumption that his strength was larger than the Ducklett's and that it would be strong enough to make up the difference.
And now, there was just one more Pokémon to deal with right now. He glared at the incoming Phanpy, his speed just as dangerous as before. He grunted and reached both of his claws upward. He attempted to slam both of his paws against the sides of the Phanpy's body. He was attempting to catch the Ground-type using his physical strength and stop the attack in its tracks. Then, the speedster would be a lot easier to deal with. However, due to his Tailwind petering out, whether he was able to catch the Phanpy in time in the first place had yet to be seen.
The Tangela and Electrike both felt the painful chill of the Icy Wind attack. For the Tangela, there was no way she could have avoided it. There was no way for her to move very far with the Whirlpool holding her in place. She kept reaching her vines out, trying to grab onto something, but she couldn't quite get a good grip on anything.
For the Electrike, it only stalled him for a moment longer. He rushed forward, jumping onto the Buizel with a simple, yet still effective, Spark attack. This time he refused to risk screwing up.
~~~
The Phanpy, having no grip on the ground, was easily also knocked aside by Marduk. The difference being that when the Phanpy hit the tree, she bounced, rolled, and came right back at Marduk. This time with a wreckless Double-Edge attack.
The Ducklett, realizing he had an opening, raised his wings and shimmied until water started pouring down from the sky. He decided to use this opportunity to use Rain Dance.

Jet was stunned for a moment when he realized what he had just done, even to the point where he momentarily forgot how exhausted and weak his body was at the moment. He felt excitement building in his system. He...he'd actually done it! He had actually managed to unleash his Icy Wind attack by himself for the first time! He couldn't believe it! He looked down at his paws, a small, but excited smile appearing on his face. He had finally done it...! He couldn't wait to show Bob, Marduk...and especially Doug what he had learned!
Unfortunately for him, however, his mental celebrations prevented him from focusing on the battle at hand until it was too late. When he finally realized that the Electrike was still charging at him, it was too late to move; especially with his crippling Paralysis that was cutting his speed down to size. And so, the Electrike's paws soon stomped powerfully on top of his body. Unfortunately, though, that was not the end of it. A slight burst of electricity suddenly blasted through his body, electrocuting him. He let out a loud cry of pain, body convulsing slightly, despite being partially pinned down by the Electrike's paws.
Once he electricity had died down, his limbs fell limp as he simply lay there beneath the Electrike, sprawled on his back, head lolled to the side. There he lay, his body covered in scorch marks from the constant electrical shocks. That last attack had been successful in knocking him out. He'd finally been beaten.
~~~~~
Marduk cast a quick glance at the Ducklett, noticing that he was making some kind of move. However, when he realized that it was not an offensive attack, he decided to ignore it. He might have troubles with those Water-type attacks, but he figured that he knew more than enough about Ducklett battle strategy that he could take this one down in no time. The main issue was-
His eyes suddenly widened when he saw, out of the corner of his eye, the Phanpy rebounding off of the nearby tree and coming right back at him like a spinning bullet. He grunted and tried to raise his guard, but he was only barely able to even turn around and face her; let alone be able to stop her. The Double Edge attack found its mark, slamming powerfully into his chest. "Grah...!" he growled, sliding backward slightly. However, he refused to be bowled over so easily, despite their current huge speed advantage, and he remained standing. He then clenched his fist, attempting to slam it as hard as he could into the Phanpy's face. His intention was to smash her into the dirt at his feet with a powerful Revenge attack.
Bob slowly came to. He had been dead to the world for the past couple of minutes, but it only served to make his Rest more effective. It took him a moment to remember what reality he was in, and why he felt so vastly energetic even for having just woke up from a nap. The battle he was supposed to be involved in was a complete blur.
He remained still and opened his eyes just a crack to see what was going on around him. His memory was easily hindered by moments of unconsciousness, but Bob was aware enough of this flaw by now that he knew how to play it safe. A Spritzee was nearby, whom Bob didn't remember in the slightest - it was as though he was seeing the Pokemon for the first time again. Glancing to his right, he saw a spot of green within a mass of blue. He had spent enough time around Jet to recognize that as a Whirlpool, and inside was some unlucky sap who happened to be caught up in it.
'Oh yeah. There is a battle going on.'
He couldn't remember the circumstances of the battle or who all was involved. All he knew was that he had at least one teammate who was counting on him. Probably Jet. The Spritzee he didn't recognize, so he assumed she was one of his opponents. If his hunch was correct, the enemy was not too focused on him at the moment, counting him out due to his mid-battle nap. And that was all he needed to know. Showtime!
Bob leaped to his feet and charged at the Spritzee, making full use of his renewed and enhanced energy reserves in an attempt to catch her off-guard. Halfway to his target, he somersaulted forward, rolling into a ball and extending sharp quills all over his body. Revving up with the Prickly Wheel enabled him to close the distance even faster and increase the impact, which would be huge thanks to his Belly Drum. He smirked from inside his spiked ball of death. The flimsy-looking Pokemon could very well go down in one hit from this.
As soon as the Electrike had finished off the Buizel he turned back to his allies and their still-sleeping opponent. "I trust you two can wrap things up from here. I'm gonna go help Gant." He immediately charged off into the bushes. There was no way he was going to stick around and let the Spritzee gloat about how he had failed to keep control of two attacks in a row.
"Hmph, just like him to run off after a show like that." The Spritzee said disdainfully.
The Tangela was still struggling to escape from the Whirlpool, trying to grab onto anything she could see. As she continued to spin around she noticed the spiny lump behind the Spritzee had began to move again. "Uh... J-Juh... Jewel?" She tried to warn her.
"Oh what is it no-" the Spritzee managed before being knocked on her face and flattened by the Prickly Wheel.
~~~
The Phanpy was easily laid out by the Revenge attack. The Phanpy had now been reduced to a heap of blue on the ground. But the two other pokemon involved didn't plan on giving Marduk much room to breathe. From behind the Zangoose, Gant had recovered a bit thanks to his Dry Skin and had begun gathering up some dirt. He quickly flung it at Marduk in the form of a Mud Bomb.
The Ducklett, shortly after, raised both of his wings and quickly quickly brought them down, sending a gust with the force of a Hurricane at Marduk.

Marduk watched as the Phanpy was successfully slammed down by his Revenge. He wasn't entirely sure whether or not the Phanpy had been knocked out, but he had more pressing matters to deal with at the moment. His gaze quickly shifted from the Phanpy at his feet to the Croagunk approaching him again. He saw Gant preparing some form of mud-based attack, likely a Mud Bomb given the amount that was being gathered. He couldn't be within that move's blast radius, tiny as it was, so he quickly leaped backward and away from where he was standing. If he was lucky, perhaps the downed Phanpy would get struck by the attack, but he doubted that the Croagunk's aim would be that off.
However, he felt a shift in the winds immediately after he began his leap and he shot a quick glance backward. His eyes widened when he quickly identified one of the most powerful Flying type attacks. And thanks to the rain, it was nearly impossible for him to evade the attack. He had considered the possibility, but he had hoped the Ducklett would not be advanced enough to control it this well. No such luck, it seemed.
"Grngh...!" Marduk growled as the Hurricane slammed into him, causing him to get flung forward, in Gant's general direction while spinning out of his control. If nothing stopped him he would end up crashing into the ground, supine. Thankfully, the world was not spinning around him, so he had not been Confused by the attack. He decided to take the time while he was still down to begin gathering his strength, focusing on kicking up the winds around him. He could not use a move as powerful as Hurricane as quickly, but he did have a move that rivaled it in power. And he was going to test how his Aerial Blast truly stacked up.

Feeling that satisfying BUMP as though he were a motor unicycle running over an aluminum can, Bob unfurled himself and came to a screeching halt. As he looked at the flattened Spritzee, he felt a slight pang of guilt as he suddenly remembered who she was. He shook it off as just another side effect of the Attract move and thanked his lucky stars that he had the ability to forget things for a short time by sleeping.
Bob then drew his attention to the Pokemon trapped in the Whirlpool. He didn't recall traveling with any green Pokemon lately, so this one could also only be an opponent of his. He approached it slightly, knowing that charging straight into it would likely be a bad idea. An itching on his back reminded him that his quills were still extended, and he hatched an idea. He bent his front legs, taking careful aim at the green blob within the vortex, and fired a barrage of Pin Missiles into it. Bob was confident that this would at least weaken the Pokemon enough that, by the time it could escape, Bob could easily be prepared for any sort of retaliation it might be capable of doing.
Suddenly, something orange caught Bob's eye. He must have been angled such that the whirlpool blocked it from view before, but he could certainly see it now. He felt a bad feeling in his gut as he ran over to it... and sure enough, as he approached, he could make out the shape of a fallen Buizel.
"Jet?!" he shouted, though he soon came to realize his shouting would be futile as his friend was already out-cold. "Who did this to you...?" he questioned as he examined his bodily injuries. A splotch of mud jogged his memory - it was that Electrike. Bob took a small amount of comfort in the fact that his maneuver had probably bought Jet a bit more time, but unfortunately it didn't seem to be enough. "...I'll avenge you, buddy," he swore. "Mark my words... on an imaginary notepad in your coma dream. If you can hear me."

Upon noticing that Marduk had withstood the Hurricane, Gant needed to act quickly. They had to keep stalling him. "You know," Gant said, "this really is more difficult than I thought it would be. You're actually quite resilient, even when outnumbered 3 to 1." Gant Flattered his enemy. It was risky, giving an enemy with such powerful wind attacks a boost like that, but if it managed to buy them even a minute more it would be worth it.
~~~~~
The Tangela winced as each of the Pin Missiles stuck into her... tangled mess of vines? I mean it clearly pierced something, but I couldn't really tell you what's in there. In any case, she managed to fight through the pain until Bob was distracted. At that point, the Whirlpool had begun to subside. The Tangela then made her way over to the Spritzee, and gently shook her until she began to get up.
The Tangela then walked back toward Bob and threw a vine to Constrict one of his legs and pull him back toward her. As she did this, the Spritzee made her way back to her feet.
"You're not avenging anyone!" the spritzee said, trying to stay on her feet, "We're turning you in for the bounty and that's that!"
Marduk had to focus completely on the task at hand. If he was going to manipulate the wind, which he had no spiritual connection to unlike Flying Pokémon, it required his full concentration. Such a strong, focused blast of air was dangerous to work with for somebody like him. If he lost his concentration...
As soon as that thought crossed his mind, he tried to shake it aside. And he was assisted in that endeavor as Gant began to speak to him again. Unfortunately, that created a new problem. The Croagunk was actually praising him, which could potentially mean it was a Flatter move. He wasn't entire sure whether or not Croagunk had access to such a move, but he got his answer quickly enough.
The world around the Zangoose suddenly started to spin as a dizzy sensation kicked in. "Ngh..." he grunted, trying desperately to maintain his focus on his Aerial Blast. But he was no normal Pokémon, his lack of elemental alignment aside. He was not about to be overcome by some mere status condition by itself. While the Confusion had set in, he ignored Gant completely, trying to block it all out. Even through the haze that was his mind, his attack was ready. However, spinning it around him and firing in all directions was going to be harder for him in this case. So instead of dealing with everybody at once, he decided to take aim at only one...the only Pokémon who was making this fight as difficult as it was.
Marduk brought the air together around his claws, compressing it to give it its punch. He then spun around and thrust his arms outward, launching the Aerial Blast attack from the original starting point and aiming it directly at the Ducklett. After all, his Hurricane, Rain Dance and Tailwind were the largest hindrances thus far.
Bob had been completely ignorant of his enemies at that point, as he was convinced that neither of the Pokemon that had stuck around were in any condition to fight back. At the very least, he figured he'd have time to come up with a better plan. But those hopes were dashed as he felt a vine circle around his foot and drag him backwards, sending him to the ground. Again.
To his further surprise, his limbs failed to react immediately. He had expended more energy than he planned in those two attacks - or, to be more accurate, he didn't plan on having to save that much energy after executing them. And then the Spritzee's voice reached his ears, informing him that neither of the opponents had been knocked out by his efforts. Jet was out-cold. Bob was out-numbered. Marduk was... out somewhere else, probably having just as much trouble. Bob was the key to turning the tide of this battle, but he didn't have the strength.
His jaw clenched as he struggled against the force of the vine. He wasn't about to let this happen. There had to be something - anything he could still pull that would fix everything. Not just for his sake. For Marduk. For Doug. For Jet.
As visions of his adventures with his friends up to this point surfaced, Bob felt something click. A strange, forgotten reservoir of power deep within him opened up, filling his being with new energy. "No..." he uttered, as a white glow enveloped his body. "Our adventures can't end here!"
This desire was so great that it even began to change Bob's body. Under cover of light, he grew larger, sleeker, sharper, more capable. The vine restraining him snapped as his form grew too massive to fit inside it. With one last discharge of residual power, the light faded, revealing a new Pokemon entirely - an imposing Linoone, purple-tinted with orange stripes.
The Linoone whipped around to face the Spritzee and Tangela, staring them down with his piercing pink eyes. "I am Bob Sladfigy," he announced, "and you're about to have a really. Bad. Day."
Bob, utilizing his powerful new muscles, side-hopped to just the right position, putting the Tangela directly between him and the Spritzee. He then sprinted forward, reaching speeds he had only dreamed of an hour ago, charging directly at the Tangela with little room for even himself to register what was happening. As he neared the Grass-type, he raised a front claw and brought it down on her with all of his might. This did not slow him down, and he found himself rapidly approaching the Spritzee as well, at whom he drew back his other claw and swung it in much the same way. The full-speed double Slash attack was not nearly as draining as it would have been on his juvenile form, and Bob had never felt more alive.
The Slash went straight through the Tangela, sending vines flying everywhere, and leaving the Tangela in a heap on the ground.
Jewel watched in shock as their chance at getting their mark slipped away. She also felt that now there was no way for them to have bought enough time for Gant to get away with that Zangoose.
"Oh bullsh-" Jewel hollered as the second Slash sent her toppling backwards, leaving her on the ground, struggling to maintain consciousness.
Gant moved as soon as Marduk had taken aim at Howard. In a flash he was shoving the Ducklett out of the way of the Hurricane, taking the full force of the attack himself. Throwing him backwards against a tree, once again. This time he didn't seem to have the wherewithal to even attempt to shout a command, but he didn't need to.
Just then a blue streak, a Thunder attack, fired down from the sky directly at Marduk. Just as the Electrike came into the clearing.
Marduk was taken relatively by surprise when suddenly, it was not the Ducklett that was in the path of his attack. Rather, it turned out to be the Croagunk, having shoved the Ducklett right out of harm's way. For a moment, Marduk was stunned at how quickly this guy had rushed across and managed to save his teammate. He had to admit, this impressed the Zangoose. At the same time, though, he knew that this was easily his best chance. The only Pokémon on their team that actually had a type advantage against them had just taken a serious hit. He probably wouldn't be able to get back into the fight very quickly. So this was his chance to take out the Ducklett, then finish him off.
And with that, he began rushing forward, preparing his next strike immediately. He readied his claws, prepared to bring them down and crush this Ducklett before he could get anywhere else or respond. Or at least, that was the plan.
A moment after he began to walk, there was a loud rumbling and he clouds overhead suddenly sparked to life. And then a blue streak suddenly zoomed down from the sky, engulfing the Zangoose's body in an overwhelmingly powerful electrical surge. He let out a loud, pained cry as the Thunder attack slammed down onto him. There was nothing he could do; this attack had been completely unavoidable. And once it was finished, he simply stood there for a moment, stunned from the impact. However, a moment later, he sank to his knees, and fell forward. He reached his arms out at the last second and caught himself before he collapsed completely, though.
The Zangoose groaned, trying his best to fight off the pain and get back up...but it was going to take him a few precious seconds. On top of the damage he'd already sustained, the Thunder attack was very powerful; especially in the middle of such rainfall.
"Urngh...." he groaned as he shook his head, and slowly began to climb back to his feet again...although this time, there was a slight stumble to it. A clear sign that even this mighty warrior was being brought to his last legs.
"Rather...impressive...." Marduk murmured lowly. "It's a shame...you are fighting...for an unjust cause...."
Bob caught himself on his front paws and pivoted around to see the result of his handiwork. Both marks were down in one swift motion, with none of the hassle. Bob was infinitely pleased that his battles didn't have to be so complicated anymore.
"Guess you just didn't make the cut," Bob taunted, despite the fact that both of his victims were likely unconscious by now. Still. That would have been an especially insulting thing to hear right before passing out.
Before he could get even more distracted by his own ever-expanding ego, a thunderous noise rang out across the field like... thunder. Bob jumped. There was an Electric-type in the battle before, wasn't there? And if they're not here now, that could only mean...
"Marduk..." Bob uttered, gritting his teeth. He knew the Zangoose was more than capable of holding his own, but there was no telling how long he'd last against the others. Especially if that Thunder attack he just heard had connected. The receiving end of those is usually not fun.
Unable to waste any more time, Bob resumed doing what he did best - charging face-first into danger. He sprinted as hard as he could toward the flash, and soon found himself in a clearing. Not even slowing down or taking the time to fully register the scene, Bob picked the closest, straightest-ahead non-Marduk entity he could find and continued his insane dash at them, lowering his head into a Headbutt. It just so happened that his target was the Electrike.
By the time the Zangoose had recovered from the Lightning, Gant had made his way back to his feet. "I'm not gonna let the guy with a bounty on his head try to tell me what justice is. You don't know what cause any of us fight for. You don't know the first thing about us!" Marduk's comment about Justice had clearly struck a chord with Gant.
"But you don't really need to know that. All you really need to know is that whatever mistake you made that put such a large bounty on your head..." Gant began to charge at Marduk and glow as his shape appeared to shift, becoming larger. Sharper. He had also evolved, gaining his own large boost in power. "That mistake put you and your friends in between us and our goals!" Gant shouted at Marduk. He used his new-found strength to throw a powerful Drain Punch directly into... the Electrike?
...
The Elektrike fell to the ground, motionless. At the last second, before anyone could react, Bob's Headbutt had sent the Elektrike flying directly into the path of the charging Toxicroak.
Marduk remained silent as Gant started talking again. He watched as the Croagunk approached him. By the time he had managed to push himself back up, Gant had already begun his charge. However, what struck him as odd was the fact that he almost seemed to take his words personally. For a moment, it seemed like the Fighting-type Pokémon had actually been offended by his accusations. And even now, as he stood with shaky footing and facing imminent defeat and capture, he couldn't help but wonder for a moment just these Pokémon have been through that put them on this path.
When the Croagunk began to glow, form slowly changing as his charge picked up speed, Marduk's eyes widened slightly. The Croagunk was...evolving!? That took him completely by surprise. However, even if he hadn't been surprised like that, he probably still would have been just as powerless, unable to evade the incoming attack. And so, he simply maintained his gaze, staring intently at the charging Toxicroak, ready to accept whatever punishment he was about to receive for his failure. He watched as the Poison- and Fighting-type hybrid Pokémon pulled its arm back...thrust it forward....
Only to be stopped by a green Pokémon, having been thrown directly into the punch's path. Marduk blinked, just as surprised as anybody else would have been. The Zangoose turned, looking to his side, when he realized that an unfamiliar Pokémon was standing some distance away. No, wait...the Pokémon's color scheme was orange and purple, just like...
"Bob...?" Marduk questioned, confusion filling his tone. "Wh...what are you doing here? What happened to the young Buizel!?" He felt a sudden lurch in his chest, dreading what may have happened. He could only hope that the enemy hadn't managed to defeat the young one and carry him away....
