Spark hadn't even noticed yet that they had entered the forest. He was too busy thinking about how to get Aureol's friendship, or friendliness, back. He hated to make anyone angry only slightly less than making people cry. Why was it suddenly so hard to be the good guy?
Spark hadn't meant any harm in what he said. He only meant to point out that if something wasn't your problem, you should still try to make it your problem. "Look, I'm sorry If I offended you. I meant no offense. I was only trying to tell you that you shouldn't ignore a problem just because it's not yours. I never meant that I didn't enjoy helping out your parents." Spark said, knowing it probably wouldn't help his position at all. "But one thing's for sure. I can't let you travel across Tunican field alone. If shiny pokemon are as rare in this dimension as they are in Kanto..." Spark began to say. Suddenly he wanted to facepalm. Aureol never would've even heard of Kanto and the last thing he needed was her thinking he was crazy.
"Well, if shiny pokemon are as rare as I think, people might do crazy things at the site of one like you. People would be likely to try to kidnap you or worse." Spark tried to change the subject, hoping Aureol hadn't heard the word Kanto. "You may not care about me, but I care about everyone I know." Spark finished. But if he knew Aureol right, he knew this probably wouldn't be enough to get her full trust, or get her to change her mind.

The Aina Forest was full of life at this time of day. With so many Bug and Grass-types out and about, Aureol hoped it meant that most of the nearby plants were in full bloom. If they could find the berries in abundance, then maybe she could take a few extra ones home with her. That way she could be prepared for the next time the Avian Flu hit her family. And if the flu never came back, she could always have the berries as the snack or as a part of her bigger meals. They were highly nutritional and would probably go a long way into making her a stronger, better Pokemon than she was now.
Aureol was in her own little world well after they had entered the Aina Forest, only to have her thoughts interrupted by Spark's voice. 'Is he talking again?' She listened half-heartedly to what he was saying. 'Wow. It should be fine to ignore small problems that aren't yours, like packages, if you want to. It's healthier that way.' She wanted to say all of that to him, but didn't. Finding those berries was more important than arguing with Spark. He wouldn't understand her anyhow; He didn't see things like she did. By the time he got to the part about "Kanto" she had tuned him out totally and barely even acknowledged the fact that he was talking to her.
The amount of attention Aureol was giving to the situation at hand paid off. She quickly spotted a bush up ahead that was full of Bulk berries. "Found them!" She flew swiftly ahead and landed near the bush. "There's a lot here, which means we can take more than one." She was about to pick one of the berries when a Cheribi hopped out from behind the bush. "Hey! What are you doing?" Aureol blinked at the Cherubi. "...Oh, sorry. Is this your bush?" The Cherubi nodded in response. "I'm sorry, but could I please have Bulk berry?" Cherubi frowned. "Hmmm...maybe. If one of you do something for me. "

Spark quietly let out a sigh of relief when Aureol didn't ask about Kanto. Spark had started looking for the berries, but the bird must have been looking real hard with how quickly she spotted the Bulk berries. Do Pichu just naturally have worse eyesight? It would make sense with their giant ears. Spark decided to let Aureol go and pick the berries on her own. She did want to stay away as much as possible. Spark started looking for other berries when he herd the Cheribi.
Spark quickly ran up to the bush. "What do you want us to do?" He asked. He could probably handle whatever it was, but the problem was whether he would be able to it fast enough. It could turn out to be faster to look for a different bush.

Cherubi seemed delighted when Spark ran up to the bush. "You!" He pointed at the Pichu. "I want you to do this favor for me." Aureol tilted her head to the side a bit. She would rather have Spark deal with the favor then herself anyhow, but this Cherubi was acting way too excited. "Fine with me. What do you want him to do?" Aureol asked. Whatever it was, at least he seemed energetic about it. Maybe that meant that whatever favor he wanted would be quick, easy, or hopefully both. She wouldn't mind if that was the case. But if it was something big, they wouldn't have time for it right now.
A huge grin started to form on Cherbui's face. He jumped back, spun around, and pointed at Spark again. "I challenge you to a battle, Pichu person!" He announced. Aureol had to admit, she was surprised. Cherbui didn't seem tough; Spark could take him. And if he couldn't, Aureol could always finish him off in a battle after they were done with theirs. This would actually be very easy. "Spark could take you, sure." She smiled, thinking it wouldn't take too long. But that was assuming Spark decided to fight. Cherubi did ask him, so he would be the one to make the decision.

Upon hearing "I challenge you to a battle" Spark instinctively reached for a pokeball when he remembered he himself was a pokemon. "Wait, why do you want to fight me?" Spark asked, confused. He normally wouldn't do something like this unless the pokemon deserved it, but this one seemed to want to fight alot for some reason. "All right, I guess we could fight." Spark replied, confused. He knew Aureol would just get angrier if he said no anyway. Things would just be made worse overall. So he really didn't have a choice.

The grin on Cherubi's face only got bigger thanks to Spark's reaction. He walked over to his Bulk berry bush and pointed at one of it's berries. "See this? These are top quality Bulk berries. Only the best." He plucked one of the berries and laid it on top of the bush. "I'm the best Bulk berry grower in all the land! I'm not guessing at that; I know that. " Meaning that it was his own, unofficial opinion. However, the bush did have a healthy color to it, and the berries were of a nice size. "I can't let just any Pokemon have these berries. Their my treasure! So every time a Pokemon wants some Bulk berries, they have to battle me."
Aureol stared curiously at the Bulk berry Cherubi placed on top of the bush. Why would he pluck a berry from the bush before he knew if Spark was going to win or not? Cherubi saw her looking at the Bulk berry and met her gaze when she looked back at him. "I know what yer thinkin'." And apparently, he did. "If a Pokemon can't beat me in battle, I eat the Bulk berry myself. Bulk berries don't just give you nutrients! They have a little punch." Aureol's eyes widened as she looked back at the bush. "You mean...they give you power?" Cherubi laughed a nodded. "Just a little bit, missy. It's my bonus for winning a battle. Experience or power. I get stronger after each battle." He explained.
This was news to Aureol. The only berries she had ever heard of giving power were Blue, Green, Red, and Gold berries. It sounded like Bulk berries didn't give as much power as Blue berries, but if Cherubi had been enough battles, it could really add up. Maybe Spark wouldn't be able to win after all. "Get ready Pichu person, here I come!" Cherubi figured he had given him enough time to reconsider. "This won't miss! Hope you can take a hit!" He shot forth a stream of colorful, glowing leaves. 'Magical Leaf...' Aureol could recognize that attack anywhere. It was becoming as favored an attack as Razor Leaf among Grass-types.

Spark was just getting used to just being a Pichu. He had no idea how he would fight as one! "Gyah!" Spark yelled out in surprise at the site of the sudden magical leaf. He tried to jump back to dodge, but he had reacted to late. The attack hurt, it hurt alot. Most of it was probably from power boosts, however. Spark had no idea Bulk berries could do such a think as increase the power of a pokemon! All this time, he thought they where only used as ingredients such as pokeblocks, or poffins!
"Fair enough." Spark said, grinning through the pain of the attack. "But you can't just assume I'll sit back and let you win." Spark continued. He knew he had to win. He needed to help Aureol's parents. Spark had no idea how a Pichu could control the electricity, he just knew it was an instinct for normal Pichu. But he just couldn't pull it to the front of his mind. He knew he had regular Pichu instincts, after all, he did run on all fours earlier. Well, the only thing he could think to do was run toward the Cherubi at full speed with a quick attack. 'I hope this actually deals some damage!' He thought as he charged at the Cherubi with full force.

Cherubi had to admit, he was surprised when Spark didn't try to use an Electric attack. Maybe it was because he knew Electric attacks weren't very affective against Grass-types, but if he didn't know any better, he'd say it looked like Spark was having a hard time deciding on attacks in general. Aureol noticed this too and frowned. 'Has Spark...ever fought in a battle before?' The thought never occurred to her. She had automatically assumed that he had battled before. Spark was young, but not too young to battle. And battling was something that came naturally to most Pokemon. "Great..." Aureol would have face-palmed if she could.
The Quick Attack had hit it's mark and managed to cause some damage to Cherubi, though no one would be able to tell by looking. He didn't seem bothered by the amount of damaged dealt to him and smiled. " Pichu Person...how did you do that? Pichu don't have quick attack. And where's the light show?" He grinned again. This battle was completely in his favor. Normal Pichu don't have physical attacks; this one wasn't going to be able to rely on them. Not only was Spark a new battler, but he had a type disadvantage. "I think we should get this over with!" Cherubi was growing overly confident by the second. He started to charge at Spark with a Take Down attack. The recoil of the attack didn't matter to him.
(Aura, Pichu do not have Quick Attack. I admit, their list is limited and I can see why you would think they would have Quick Attack. So I'll let that part slide this time, if you'd like/don't want to edit it out. Just in the future, please stay in Spark's moveset (unless you have some magical permission to do otherwise that I magically don't know about xD), okay? )

((Sorry for the wait for the reply. I've been kinda sick for the last few days. Also, I thought Pichu could learn Quick attack. I could've sworn I could remember having a Pichu that knew it. Eh, I remember a lot of things wrong.))
Spark was already pretty nervous as he saw the expression on Aureol's face. When he heard the Cherubi's remark, he was that much more nervous. Then Spark saw the Cherubi suddenly charging at him. He managed to jump to the side just in time to avoid the hit. Although he didn't know how, he had to think of how to channel the electricity through his body. He did remember reading something about Pikachu squeezing their cheeks. Odds are it worked the same way with Pichu. So he did just that.
He knew that a thundershock wouldn't do much in this situation, but it was the only offensive attack he could use. The electricity jolted from his cheeks as he let out the attack targeting the Cherubi. "There's the lightshow!" Spark said with a smirk, proud of what most Pichu could do from birth.

The Take Down attack ended up missing but, because it missed, Cherubi didn't have to take any recoil damage. He got up quickly and bounced back to face Spark. 'This is cake. I'm going to beat this Pokemon so badly.' Cherubi was becoming way, way too confident now. He didn't even try to dodge Spark's attack. Instead he grinned and beared it, getting hit by the Thundershock attack on purpose. Thanks to the type disadvantage, he only took a little bit of damage. Apparently he didn't think the Thundershock attack was worth dodging. "I'm sorry to have to do this to you. It's like taking candy from a baby." Technically he was doing that, considering Pichu were often considered "baby" Pokemon.
At this point, Aureol was thinking the same thing. 'This is stupid.' Spark was no baby, but the most experienced Pichu would have trouble with this fight. She had forgotten about the limited amount of moves Pichu could use. It was easy to see why Cherubi had wanted to fight him now. It wasn't fair and she couldn't believe she didn't realize that when he issued the challenge. "I'd be really powerful too if I took advantage of unprepared Pokemon..."She mumbled to herself. The truth was, she was actually kind of annoyed that Cherubi had thought of something so smart. It was sneaky, but smart.
Cherubi wasn't going to bother doing anything but keep hammering at Spark. "Round two!" He laughed, jumping into the air. He released yet another flurry of colorful leaves in the form of an aerial Magical Leaf attack.

Spark knew it would be difficult fighting a grass type. He hadn't thought of it until after he started the fight though and there was no switching out here. He heard Aureol's comment and smiled. "Relax, I'm sure I can handle it." He said with confidence. Spark then noticed the Cherubi launching another Magical Leaf at him. This time, he lunged to the side to avoid the attack. However the leaves made a U-turn and charged back at him. He had forgotten Magical leaf couldn't miss! He was nailed with heavy damage from the attack. Spark had taken some serious damage, but he wasn't about to stop now.
He turned and fired several bolts of electricity in an attempt to paralyze the grass type with a Thunder Wave. Fighting wasn't bad. Of course, in the first dimension, pokemon did seem to love battles.
"I hope you know I'm not about to let you win because you can make one solid hit." Spark said with a smirk. "We need those berries and your not going to stop us just like that."

Cherubi laughed as he watched his attack completely turn around and hit Spark from behind. Magical Leaf was a very potent and successful attack, easily the most useful in an average Cherubi's moveset. 'This is boring...let's change it up some!' He start planning his next attack. It was tempting to go at Spark with a full-blown Take Down attack again. Nothing was more fun than overpowering the foe completely. That is, to him at least. But before he could launch his attack Spark had shot a Thunder Wave at him. The first bolt missed Cherubi completely without him having to move. The second and third managed to hit and paralyze him.
Due to Cherubi's small body, it took no time whats-so-ever for the paralysis to take full effect. His whole body was tingly and partially numb in a mere matter of seconds. "Tricky little mouse! That won't stop me!" Cherubi growled, annoyed at his failure to dodge. He had taken Spark's aim for granted and knew it. It was then that he decided to go with a Tackle attack instead of a Take Down. Now that he was paralyzed, he wanted to avoid taking as much damage as possible. Yet when he tried to move to attack, he found he couldn't. Cherubi was paralyzed for this turn and wouldn't be able to attack until after Spark.

Spark was readying to dodge when he noticed the slow speed at which the grass type was attacking. He took this time to attack the Cherubi with another thundershock. Again, he didn't expect it to do much damage, but there wasn't much else he could do at the moment. Spark decided that keeping his distance was more important, but there was no getting around the Cherubi's Magical Leaf.
Spark realized he was wasting time. He had to collect these berries as quickly as possible. He began to emit sparks from his cheeks in an intimidating Nasty Plot to hopefully lower the special defense of the grass type. That way, he would still do more damage.

The Thundershock managed to hit Cherubi; Spark's plan to squeeze an attack in was a success. Yet, it hardly did any damage to the surprisingly tough Grass-type. "That's cool. I could take attacks like that all day. I could take a bath in Thundershocks! Strike as much as you want, you won't get anywhere!" Cherubi yelled at him. Most of what he was saying was true, to a certain extent, but was only yelling it because he was angry at being paralyzed. 'When I get out of here...' He grumbled in his mind, planning his next attack. Cherubi could always feel his speed slowing down, allowing Spark to get in another turn.
Nasty plot was a bad omen for Cherubi, he tried to ignore that feeling. So Spark's attacks would hurt more now. It didn't matter, right? The poor kid needed the boost anyhow. Paralyzing and lowering and lowering his Special Defense stats only made the fight fair! Or at least that's what Cherubi tried to tell himself, but in the back of his mind he was planning to end this as quickly as possible. "Feel better now? You got a small hit in, good job! But I'm going to finish this now." He hopped forward, not paralyzed for the moment and stared at Spark with a smile. Magical Leaf was being sent Spark's way yet again. If he had to, he could shave Spark's health down with that one attack for the whole battle; Maybe finish him off with it.

Spark was heavily nailed by the Magical leaf. "Grah!" He yelled out as he was knocked back. He slowly stood up with sparks emitting from his cheeks. Spark clenched his teeth. "I made a promise... and I will not let her down." Spark heard himself say aloud. Spark could tell he was loosing energy fast. Could he actually win this? Could he even handle using another thundershock? Well, for now, all he could do was try to intimidate the little grass type with another Nasty Plot.
Spark got on all fours and more fierce sparks began to jump out of his yellow cheeks. All he could hope for was that he would be able to take another Magical leaf. This Cherubi didn't even seem to be trying to use any strategy. It was just using the same attacks over and over. Spark just hoped he could take advantage of this.

Magical Leaf kept hitting, as Cherubi expected. That status condition that was inflicted on him not too long ago made him worry a bit at first. But now it seemed like it was just going to make the battle slower. Cherubi, who was still pretty overconfident anyhow, quickly returned to his totally overconfident state of mind. 'I feel bad for the little squirt...' He thought as he watched Spark use another Nasty Plot. His Special Defense lowered again, but Cherubi completely brushed the thought off, convinced that it wouldn't do Spark any good. "I'll tell you what. I'll let you get a "free" hit in. I'll still use an attack, so that you won't feel bad, but it won't hurt you any." He smirked and started to dance around a bit. Clapping noises could be heard, even though Cherubi didn't have any hands, making it obvious that he was using Helping Hand.
This wasn't a two on two battle, which meant that Cherubi's Helping Hand was completely useless to him or anyone else. "Hah!" Aureol chirped in disgust. Like Cherubi said, he was still going to attack and technically, Helping Hand was an attack. "You're mocking him! What kind of a battler are you?" His attack, however, was nothing more then poor sportsmanship. But of course, Cherubi choose to ignore this. 'This is stupid...' Aureol thought, looking down. Was there a way she could help Spark? She didn't care much about the rules at this point, but if she charged into the battle to help him, it would become two against one. Somehow, she had a feeling Spark wouldn't like that.

Spark heard the Cherubi mention the free hit. "I don't need a handicap, I've got you right where I want you!" With how low the Cherubi's special defense was, this thundershock should be enough to finish off the grass type though it wouldn't be very effective. Then Spark saw the Cherubi dancing around despite his statement. He heard Aureol's comment and didn't react.
The sparks coming from his cheeks grew into bolts as they shot strait at the cherry. This pokemon's underestimation was going to be his downfall! Spark grinned as he shot the thundershock. There was no way he could miss! The Cherubi was paralyzed after all.

When Cherubi was done with his helping hand attack, he stood perfectly still and watched Spark. He had to, since he was paralyzed again, but what he saw was not a good thing for him. "Thundershock?! Please, that won't effect me much!" He said, a little bit more nervous this time, though he tried not to show it. Spark had lowered his Special Defense a significant amount. But he was still a grass type...he could take the hit and be fine. At least, he hoped that was true. Cherubi shook his head. Of course that was true. The Thundershock wasn't going to be very strong, despite his lowered stat. After all, it was still coming from a Pichu.
As it turned out, the fact that a Pichu was shocking him didn't make it any less painful. And at this point, neither did being a Grass-type. The attack hit Cherubi perfectly, to where it caused him the maximum amount of damage possible. "ARRGGGHHHH!" Cherubi withered in pain. He had managed to convince himself that the attack wasn't going to hurt, which only worked to make the pain all the more unpleasant. When the Thundershock was over, Cherubi was panting and practically glaring at Spark. He wasn't out yet, but he was going to be the next turn if Spark used the right attack.

Spark started with all the wrong cards, but in the end, he had a royal flush. He knew he had given the Cherubi a run for his money. All he had to do was deliver this final attack. The sparks emitting from his cheeks turned to bolts again. Spark smirked with excitement. How had he managed to beat a Cherubi this powerful in his first fight? He managed to impress himself as well as probably anyone whose been watching the fight! "Ready?" Spark yelled out to the Cherubi.
Spark fired the bolts once again in another thundershock that would hopefully soon strike the Cherubi with full force. Spark smirked again. "Good game." he heard himself say under his breath.

"Grrr..." Cherubi was growling as he stared at Spark. It was all he could do. While other Cherubi could probably think of ways to get out of this situation, he couldn't. He never had to. His plan was simple and effective against all of the Pokemon that had crossed his path so far. Pick on the weak ones, never fight a Pokemon that looks strong. Eat the berry they wanted to win after the battle. Gain power. In this way he could make it look like he had gotten stronger through respectable battling, when all he was really doing was taking the easy way out, and being a jerk at the same time. There was no need for strategy or much critical thinking with his method. But it was all falling apart now. Spark wasn't that strong, but he was smarter then he looked, at least in the sense that he had some knowledge of battling. "GAHH!" Cherubi got hit by Spark's Thundershock and went down. "I...hate you..." He twitched and mumbled before fainting. Aureol's beak almost dropped when she saw Cherubi faint. "Wow! I can't believe you did it." But as expected, that wasn't enough to impress her too much. "I guess you're not completely worthless after all." She said simply, regaining composure, before flying over to the now unguarded Bulk berry bush. 'Step number one.' She thought as she plucked one of the berries and put it away in the invisible pockets that all Pokemon have. "Finally. We have ONE berry. Let's go Spark." She said, turning her back on the bush and Cherubi. ~Congrats! Spark has earned 20 power from the battle. How lucky!~ (And don't worry, I've already added it to his profile.)
