((This is sort of a continuation of this thread but for now, Tanen is absent, and I suppose Sora will probably also be dropped in the same way. xP)) Jet was reluctant, but he nodded at the Professor's request. He was in fact exhausted and needed his rest after that entire battle.... Especially if he was going to go look for that Sneasel thief that made off with some sort of device as well as Phaunt, Lorryn and all of their friends. He had turned around and was about to head toward the sleeping quarters that Dr. Porygon had directed him toward, but...then the thought crossed his mind. He had no idea what it was the Sneasel had taken. So, he turned back to Dr. Porygon and asked. "Um...excuse me, but...I don't remember you ever saying...." he murmured. "...Do you have any idea what is is that the Sneasel even took...? I mean...if she was targetting it, I'm sure it was valuable, but I don't remember you ever saying what it was.... It might make it easier to find where she went if I knew what she was going to do with it...." There was no way he was going to sleep without knowing...it would bug him all night. The victory he could have been proud of...defeating Fred the Furret...had been taken from him by an Absol who had soundly defeated him, and then practically stomped out of his mind by his defeat at the claws of the Sneasel thief. Those were the only things on his mind, and they wouldn't allow him a good night's sleep...at least this might help ease him a little bit, if they had a lead.

Dr. Porygon had already begun to grab and stack a few of the scattered boxes of equipment. It wasn't easy for him, lacking proper appendages, but after living that way for long enough, he managed to find a way to cope. He picked up each one like a forklift would, and tossed them at their proper place with masterful precision. As Jet spoke up again, taking Porygon completely by surprise, he slipped and a box crashed into the side of a stack, causing a few more to fall over again. "Oh bother..." he muttered, before facing Jet. "D-don't worry about it, this happens all the time..."
He listened to the rest of Jet's statements. "Hmm... yes, yes, that's right..." he said thoughtfully, "but sadly, I do not know what was taken. There are a lot of inventions of mine that could aid a criminal like her with... criminal tasks. I'll have to take inventory overnight." He picked up one of the fallen boxes, only to notice that it was a lot lighter than he imagined. "Wait a minute..." He opened the box and it was empty save for a bit of styrofoam. Closing it again, he checked the label.
"...oh my," he uttered, putting it down slowly. He could hardly believe what had gone missing. "This box contained one of my most volatile works-in-progress," explained the shaken doctor, "the Rift Accelerator." He took a moment to gather himself, though it was obvious the discovery jarred him severely. "My goal was to create a device that could locate traces of objects in hidden pockets of space, and extract them to the physical world. But it drains an enormous amount of power, and there are very specific locations that it works in... or, that's the theory anyway. No matter where I tested it, the machine's extraction process was cut short due to a power outage." Porygon's gaze drifted to the side. "But there are two things that don't add up about this... for one, I have never told anyone about this experiment prior to today. And for another, the amount of power estimated to yield a workable result is much greater than can be safely produced by modern technology, that I know of at least. So how did she come to know about it, and how is she planning to get any use out of it...?"

Jet was about to insist that he help Dr. Porygon with his workload and insist that he was fine...but when the good Doctor suddenly stopped and he listened to his explanation. This was a troubling find indeed. How had the Sneasel even been able to fight that well and then somehow make off with such a device? Well, whatever the case, he had to make sure that this Sneasel was caught. But first, he had to understand just exactly what this "Rift Accelerator" was and how it worked. "...So...it basically locates and summons objects from a plane not visible to the human-" He quickly caught himself. The word had just jumped off of the tip of his tongue and he hadn't even realized it. That statement didn't really relate to the current situation. "...I mean...to the naked eye?" His mind started to churn with the theories and thoughts about how such a device could possibly work. He wouldn't have expected any less from Dr. Porygon.
"W-well, I guess we have a lead now...kind of...." he muttered to himself. "You said there were very specific places it would actually work...and that it generated a lot of power." He thought for a moment and looked around. What could possibly be considered a massive source of power? Well, power sources were usually made of coal, water, wind or electricity. The first thing the Sneasel would need is the power. "...Is there anywhere that can produce a lot of energy via wind, like a windfarm? Or even anywhere hydroelectric power could be produced...or maybe massive amounts of electricity?" He wasn't sure if coal existed in this dimension or not...so he didn't bring that up. At least, not yet.

"Well, the thing is," began Dr. Porygon, "Back when I was performing the experiments with the Accelerator, I already did the research on the major power plants of Tunican, and I have tried tapping into all of them. None of them could provide sufficient power for what I was attempting. There was only one that came close." As he spoke, he navigated the maze of boxes until he arrived at a specific stack. He snatched a box from the top, opened it and produced a scrapbook entitled "Monumental mishaps".
"I keep this book as an encyclopedia of errors," explained Porygon, as he flipped through several pages of photos, notes, and newspaper clippings, "such that I may learn from them and not repeat the same mistake." He stopped at a front-page article of a newspaper. It showed a rather embarrassed-looking Dr. Porygon standing in front of a charred and damaged power plant in the middle of a city. The headline read in huge, bold letters: "LOCAL SCIENTIST SAPS TYRIC TOWN, THOUSANDS WITHOUT POWER". "You can guess what happened here," followed up Porygon. "A city official granted me a haphazard permit to use the town's main source of power, which turned into a disaster in no time flat. The paperwork was absolutely dreadful."
He quickly packed the book away and replaced the box, obviously not comfortable with it in the vicinity of his guest. "I then tweaked the Accelerator a bit for efficiency, but the city would not allow me within 1,000 feet of the power plant, let alone permit me again to use it. If the thief wants any sort of chance with the thing, she'll be heading for that plant."

Jet walked over to Dr. Porygon again and looked over his "shoulder" to take a look at what he had taken out and started flipping through. "An encyclopedia of...errors?" he repeated, wondering what kind of mistakes somebody as brilliant as this man could make. He supposed that this only proved that even geniuses and scientists make mistakes. When Dr. Porygon stopped on a specific page, he looked at it and read it to himself. Well, at least this clipping was nice. Usually such headings would be a lot less kind to those that it was shedding in a negative light.
"O-okay, I see that now...." he muttered and stepped away again as the Porygon shut the book to put away for later. He was interested in what else could have been in that booklet, but he didn't press the matter. It was probably full of things that Dr. Porygon wouldn't have wanted a guest of his to see. He looked back at the Porygon yet again as he continued. "O-oh, I see.... Yeah, I guess it would be hard for them to trust that device again."
He then thought about everything that had been said up until now, and he knew what he was getting himself into. Or at least, what he thought he was getting himself into. He looked back behind him. The lack of a Numel or Butterfree nearby still left him feeling a bit empty. He had actually been starting to become good friends with them before they disappeared. But then he decided to snap himself back into the present. He had a bigger issue at hand that he had to deal with right now. He would have to investigate Phaunt and Lorryn later.
"S-so, if I want to try to find this thief...I need to head off to this Tyric Town...?" Jet muttered, summarizing his overall goal. "Okay, I guess I have something to go on.... Don't you have some kind of way to contact somebody at Tyric Town to warn them about this thief stealing your Accelerator...? I-I mean, it would be helpful if people were already on the lookout for her...and if the proper authorities could give me a hand or something...." At this point, he was just wondering if there was a way to make his task easier.... Because it didn't take a genius to tell him out hard it would be to not only track this Sneasel down again...but also to reclaim the Accelerator from her. Most likely through another fight. And he had been so thoroughly trounced the last time....

Dr. Porygon thought for a moment at Jet's request. Then, he lit up as the realization hit him. "Of course! How could I have forgotten?" He searched his person for something, but whatever it was, he could not find it. "Ohhh, where did I leave that thing..." He began to cruise around the warehouse, checking boxes and things, until eventually he produced a bold purple-and-blue Pokecom. "Here we go!" he exclaimed as he began to dial a number.
"Hello, Tyric Police Department? I'd like to report a robbery... yes, this is Dr. Porygon, but... oh, well, it was a Sneasel, a--..... oh, really?" Porygon gained a suspicious, but thoughtful expression. "O-oh, yes, well, she made off with a, er, valuable invention of mine." It was rather obvious that he didn't want to mention the Rift Accelerator to the police. "Ah, well, it was a prototype. Something I wasn't planning on revealing anytime soon. It's just quite important that I get it back in a timely manner.... mhm... yes... right. Oh, and al--... Th-thank you kindly. You too." He folded up his phone and put it away.
He turned towards Jet, looking a little disappointed. "Apparently they've gotten several reports already of the Sneasel on the loose, and that she's a rather infamous criminal," he explained. "They have all of their units on alert. I was about to tell him that she would likely be heading for the power plant, but he rushed the conversation's end. He sounded incredibly busy, and I could tell I was starting to annoy him..." He looked down. "I tend to talk way too much, don't I...?"

Jet looked curiously at Dr. Porygon as he saw the sudden change of expression. And his words also caught his attention. But he wasn't sure what was going on. He looked on as the Doctor started searching through box after box, with a few crates thrown in here and there, until finally, he seemed to find what he had been looking for. A small cell-phone like device. Ah, now he recognized it...yeah, it was a Pokecom. Dr. Porygon had given an orange and cream one to him not too long ago. He watched the Doctor punch in a number and begin speaking.
Jet listened into the conversation from Dr. Porygon's end. After all, it would be pretty difficult NOT to overhear it. The conversation seemed to go well enough, but there seemed to be an issue between the two of them near the end there. From the sounds of it, this Police Department already knew about who the Sneasel was. When the good Doctor put the phone down, he almost let out an audible sigh. It must not have gone as smoothly as they would have expected or hoped.
"O-oh, I see. W-well, at least they know about her already I guess...." Jet muttered. But he knew that this wasn't a good thing. Because then the police knowing about her wouldn't change anything. She'd still find a place to hide out if necessary, away from the prying eyes of the law. He listened to the rest of what Dr. Porygon had to say and he shook his head. "N-no, of course not. You're just trying to get to the point, and that's fine. I mean...that guy was just busy, that's all. He's a Police Chief, after all. He's bound to have his hands full, especially with a thief as good as this Sneasel...."
He looked around the room one last time. If he was going to find this Sneasel, he would have to leave and act as soon as possible. "I guess I'll just have to try to look into this myself...s-see if I can't find some kind of power plant and try to catch her." He gulped at the thought that he would be alone in this endeavor. That Sneasel had managed to beat him and two others already. how was he going to catch a thief who had already crushed him like that?

"Y-you're right..." Dr. Porygon replied to Jet's comforting words, though it didn't seem to have any effect on his disposition. "My real problem is that I think too poorly of myself..." He looked back to his journal of mistakes as he spoke. He flipped through the pages by memory as he listened to Jet's nervous self-call to action. Yes, Porygon much disliked the thought of sending Jet off alone after a dangerous thief... but there wasn't much else he could do... or was there...?
Taking in a deep breath, the polygonal professor lifted his head. A new look of determination spread across his face. "No. I cannot allow you to go after her alone." His voice was stern. He paused, accumulating the courage needed to make his next statement. "I'm tired of sitting silently in the corner, letting things happen. That's how most of those mistakes were made in the first place - I just let them happen. But not today. Today, Kevin J. Porygon is going to show the world that he means business!" If he had an organic heart, it would be racing almost audibly from the adrenaline. He looked back at Jet with fire in his eyes. "Jet, I will accompany you. It's time we both man up and show our true colors. Together we will find her and make her regret ever crossing us. We'll take back the accelerator, as well as our dignity!"
There was a moment's pause as Dr. Porygon recollected himself from the past 30 seconds, questioning if that was really him talking, but he meant all of the things he said. There was no turning back, he was as ready as he'd ever be. He just hoped that Jet was the same way.

Jet couldn't help but think about what Dr. Porygon said about himself. He thinks too poorly of himself? Well, he couldn't disagree, but that wasn't quite what caught his attention about that statement. Something about that seemed...familiar. He couldn't quite put his paw on it, but there was definitely something peculiarly familiar about it. But he quickly shrugged that off. That wasn't something he needed to think about right now. It could perhaps be something for him to think about that night, when he was getting ready for some more sleep, but definitely not now.
When Dr. Porygon said he would refuse him going alone, Jet began to protest. "B-But Dr. Porygon...!" he started, but before he could continue, the Porygon cut him off. He heard the rest of what he had to say, and he was stunned. He had no idea how to react. When Dr. Porygon looked at him with that heated gaze, he gulped slightly. He had never seen the Doctor act like this. It was almost as though he were a completely different person all of a sudden. And Jet...suddenly felt a sense of admiration erupt from within him. A small smile spread across his lips.
At first, Jet was opposed to the idea. After all, he was a brilliant scientist and a huge benefit at this point. If anything happened, he wasn't sure what they would do. But ultimately, he knew he couldn't handle this alone. And now that Tanen, Phaunt, Lorryn and even Sora were now long-gone...Dr. Porygon was the only one left who could help him hunt for this Sneasel. Finally, after about an entire minute of silence and consideration, Jet nodded.
"A-alright...." he said at last. "I...I don't like that you...you have to risk coming with me, but...you're right. I...I don't think I can do this alone, and...and I guess I have to think about how you feel about this whole mess, since it WAS your machine...." Jet nodded again. "I'm for it. Let's do this, Doctor. Let's find this thief and make her pay for everything." His voice was full of more confidence than he had ever thought he would ever have. He spoke with more confidence than he really felt...but he still felt a bit more...ready with Dr. Porygon coming with him.

"That's the spirit, my boy!" responded Porygon heartily. "Just let me... pack a few things first." He scuttled over to another pile of boxes, opening and shuffling them around a bit, grabbing several items. He worked so fast, it was difficult to tell exactly what he was grabbing or where on his person he was putting them, but he was certainly loaded by the end of it. The last item he fetched was a familiar, long, green hammer, which he stared at for a few seconds as he remembered what he had been through to recover it... He carried the hammer over to Jet. "Jet... You should probably hold on to this. I have a feeling this sort of opportunity won't come again."**Jet received the Thief Hammer!** "Now, I do believe that is everything... everything I need, at the least. I'll lock up, and you can meet me outside when you're ready. The sooner we can head out, the better." He made sure the warehouse door was closed, and changed the code entirely just to be safe. "1...5...2...0..." recited Dr. Porygon, making sure Jet could also hear the code. A red light blinked, indicating the code had changed successfully. "Please do try to remember that. I can't guarantee that I will and we don't want to lock ourselves out... It's happened to me on more than one occasion..." And with that, he opened the door and stepped outside.

Jet nodded as Dr. Porygon mentioned needing to pack some things first. As he watched Dr. Porygon work, he couldn't help but feel a little bit dizzy. He wasn't sure how he was able to sift through all of those boxes and shuffle them around so quickly. He supposed it came from working with them for such a long time.
But something caught Jet's attention. Something the Doctor had pulled out from a box caused him to stop and stare for a moment. He saw the hammer that Dr. Porygon wanted Jet to take. He certainly recognized that hammer. It was all-too familiar to him. He looked at it and was about to say something, but the Porygon was already making his way out, causing him to kepe quiet about his uneasiness regarding the hammer. He had passed this off to Tanen before for a reason, after all.
Jet nodded softly as Dr. Porygon asked him to remember the code. He was certain that he wouldn't have any difficulty remembering a four digit code. Jet took one more look around the office and decided to start shuffling through the materials himself, taking a look for anything he might find of value. He doubted he would find much useful, since this Thief Hammer would be difficult enough to carry around on its own. But it certainly couldn't hurt to look anyway; just in case....

Jet's quick search uncovered several odd-looking devices, most of which were broken, looked complicated, or didn't seem to have a purpose that was discernible and/or useful for this situation. Among the recognizable objects were assorted machine parts and gears, electronic circuits and components, empty beakers and racks, and so on. This storage room seemed to be mostly for things that weren't important or volatile. However, a few of the boxes did contain some relatively down-to-earth items such as a couple of pairs of Scanglasses, a handful of each variety of bomb, and a second hammer that looked similar to the Thief Hammer except with a pink and black color scheme.
One object did stand out above the rest as a sort of odd one out; it was not a machine component nor was it anything that had an obvious use. It was a simple reddish-pink, translucent glass structure, or maybe crystal. When held, it would give off a faint glow and feel almost as if it was politely asking for something... something important.
Porygon's voice called from the door. "If you see anything you think might be useful, go ahead and take it - though I'd advise that you leave anything you can't identify alone. I'd happily answer any questions but we're on a tight schedule here..."

Jet continued to look around for a few more minutes. Among the many scientific instruments that he found, he found very little that he figured might actually come in any kind of handy. Eventually, however, he came across a couple pairs of Scanglasses. He decided to pick both of these up; just in case. It couldn't hurt to have a spare, after all. He was also already carrying around at least one of each kind of bomb...so he decided to pick out each kind of bomb until he had two, or if there were enough sitting there, then three of each color. He also found another Hammer simply laying there. He wasn't quite sure what it was, and Dr. Porygon had insisted on not bringing anything he couldn't identify.
But what really caught his attention was the small, glass...thing. He wasn't sure what this was, but the longer he looked at it, the more he felt he should take it.... He decided to take Dr. Porygon up on his word and ask about these two strange...things. "E-excuse me, Doctor...?" he called out the door. "I know we're in a bit of a rush, but...I found...these two weird things in here. Do you know what they are? One's a pink and black hammer, and the other is a small...reddish...glass...crystal thing...."
If these things might come in handy, there was no doubt in his mind that he would take them along.

There were plenty of bombs here - was Dr. Porygon planning to equip an army? Either way, Jet had no trouble finding enough to bring three of each variety. **Jet obtained Scanglasses x2, Fire Bomb x1, Ice Bomb x1, Spore Bomb x2, and Thunder Bomb x2!** Dr. Porygon looked over the items Jet had brought him to appraise. "Oh, that's just the Heartbreak Hammer," he briefed, indicating the white-and-black bifurcated heart logo on the end of the head. "It snaps anyone hit by it out of infatuation. I doubt our thief knows any such moves, but I wouldn't put it behind her..." He glanced at the crystal. "That... even I have no idea," he said. He'd scratch his head if he had an arm to do it with. "I found it in a cave once. It seems harmless enough, but I can't help but feel like there's something I'm missing about it... you can bring it if you wish, maybe we can kill two Pidgeys with one stone and learn something about it."His eyes lit up slightly, only now remembering that he had originally said he wouldn't answer any questions for the sake of time. "Whoops... those were a couple of questions... oh, don't worry about it," he dismissed. "Who knows, one or both of those things might come in handy. There's no telling, really. I'll leave it up to you."

Jet thought about Dr. Porygon's words. It certainly wouldn't hurt to be prepared to use these things if he needed to. But then again, he needed to remember that he had to travel lightly with this. He ultimately decided that the crystal was small enough to carry and not hold him back, but a second hammer was questionable. It was possible that that Sneasel thief could use Attract or something, in which case--since the two of them were males--it would be so easy for her to attract the two of them to her and they could end up as her servants or something as long as it didn't wear off....
He admittedly had no idea how infatuation worked to Pokemon themselves, or even if it was the same issue in this world that it was in the last one. For all he knew, it could potentially be their biggest issue to tackle. So, Jet decided that it would be best to take this second hammer as well. It definitely couldn't hurt to be safe with this. And so, he brought it with him.
He then turned around to leave the room and the Lab altogether. They needed to get going; Dr. Porygon was right. They couldn't afford to spend all day loitering around. They had a thief to catch, and the longer they took, the closer the thief got to setting up that device...for whatever she had stolen it for....
Finally, as Jet left the building, he turned to face Dr. Porygon. "Alright, I think I'm ready then, Doctor." he said at last.
